We just hit the six month mark & the the car has been back for service twice in the past 2 weeks. We thought it was recalled, then were told our car was not made at the LA factory or in the month for the recall. Had oil change+ tires checked & rotated while there. The very next week the lift gate handle came off into my hands and the inside tailgate panel was loose from the right hand side to the middle. Back it went for service. Now another week later and the tire pressure light is indicating a problem. My previous car was a beloved 2010 Jeep Liberty that NEVER had service other than oil change. I really regret trading such a great vehicle in on this Escape which I now believe is a lemon.UPDATE: Never have we done this so soon after buying a car but we traded in the Escape 8 months after buying it and got a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Love the Grand Cherokee! So glad we got rid of that Escape piece of junk, the Jeep was worth the extra money and hassle of the trade, we love it!

Purchased 2014 Ford Escape S/FWD with 2.0L/Turbo. Ford Sync & Navigation. I have read a lot of complaints about Ford Sync/Nav. I have absolutely no problems with Sync and Navigation. I personally think the system is way too cumbersome for average user to understand and operate. Down to earth manual would solve the current Sync/Nav complaints. There are so many options with Sync & Nav to explore that even average Ford salesman does not know how to demonstrate the features. The manual supplied with the vehicle is very poorly written. I had to go on line to research all the functions this system can offer. Purchased 2014 end of the model year, excellent value, rebates, discounts, financing.

I bought this car new in October 2013 and the 2014 model was already on display so I got a good deal turning a used merc ml350 2008 for this brand new car with panoramic roof and leather seats SE Plus model 2.5L engine. FF to today and 106000 km / 60000miles I can say I'm totally happy with the car and the brand. The first 50 thousand km did service every 10k at the dealership because of warranty. After that I started making the service by myself which is very easy, oil filter, oil and sparkplugs very easy to change, the only bad thing is that you have to take out the wipers and plastic mount to get to the battery (3rd already). I am very technical driven so when I saw there where not many details on the transmission oil I did change it by myself at the 70k km mark which did very good on the car. Then with the same km the motor mounts broke, also I bought them and changed with some tools I have in about 4 hours. Quite easy. Yesterday the water pump started leaking so I went to the nearest autozone and got a pump for 35usd, installed in a bit more than 2 hours, drove 30km after it without leaks. So that's it. Very friendly car in going to keep it as long it can go.

TRANSMISSION FAILED - 84,000 MILES

I'm super disappointed to share that my 2014 Ford Escape with 84,000 miles has a bad transmission. I've only owned it for 14 months. We have done a lot of research and have only become more and more disappointed with Ford. This was our first and will be out last Ford. The truly disappointing fact, is that we contacted our local Ford dealer to see if they would help us with the trade-in and they low balled us taking the maximum / retail price to replace the transmission off our value! What?! No break for their poor quality. This says a lot about their company. Beware, it may have high rankings but you could be left with a mess.
