UGH! Consider something else
It appears that I may have gotten the DUD of the Edges. I purchased mine new in 2013 after having an accident with a teenager who totaled my previous car. I selected the Edge because it was nice to look at, and it was a fantastic buy. I regret that impulsive purchase now. Since I purchased this car it has been in the shop 7 times, 4 of those in the first 6 months with A/C unit now working properly, and the other 3 times I've had to have my door latch changed and a sensor in my dashboard fixed. My car is low mileage. Right now it's sitting at 31, 200. In addition to these issues, I've had three dead batteries due to corrosion at the battery leads. It's not an easy fix, and there's really no reason to have to replace batteries so many times. I really want to love my car, but I can't overlook these issues :( UPDATED 09/13/17 at 40,600 miles. Still getting those new batteries....But it's still handling well as it should for having so few miles on it. The front Ford Emblem is now silver--but looking around at many new fords 2012/13/14 that seems to be an issue. You'd think they would want to have their emblem be identifiable...or not. UPDATED 03/13/20 at 70,100 miles. Over the last two years my car has continued to struggle, but I hope that it's going to stay better now. In July 2018 we took a 6 hour road trip only to discover as we pulled into town, my cooling fan was faulty. I literally pulled into a museum parking lot after getting off the road and my vehicle overheated. In July 2019 we took the same 6 hour road trip, and as we pulled into our hotel we received a low battery notification. Upon our return I took it to the dealership to have them look more into the problem of why my car has now had 5 new batteries and the car is only a 2013. I stumped the technicians who indicated that everything was working fine, except for a pesky backlight in my dashboard that stays on a random times, which I've been told doesn't happen because my car is "smart" but yet again, what could I possibly know about a vehicle I have driven roughly 2,464 days?!! They gave my a new battery and said it won't be a problem again because this battery they put in is "so much better"....I'm hoping they are correct on many levels as my teen is about to start driving it. If the battery goes dead again this summer, then I'd hate to be at the Ford dealership when my husband shows up with my "smart" car and the "so much better battery". UPDATE 09/13/2020....still driving my edge. It currently sits at 74,000 miles. Due to COVID we haven’t taken it on long road trips this year so I’m not sure how it’s handling in that department. We haven’t replaced the battery this summer, but we’ve had a few warning lights indicating that it might start. The pesky backlight in dashboard continues to be a problem, but no mechanic seems worried. The next update will be once my daughter starts to drive it daily .....stay tuned! UPDATE 03/15/2021 The Edge has been to the repair shop for a faulty fuel sensor, but I have the extended warranty so I only paid a deductible. It’s still running and my 16 y.o. Is pleased with this car. Mileage is at around 74,500. UPDATED 05/28/2024**** I just got a phone call from my mechanic. At 98,000 my Edge needs a new transmission. **** I an upset and overwhelmed. Remember when in 2015 I was told this was the best car they made?! UGH.

Excellence at its finest
I opted for an Edge after owning 2 Escapes. While I loved both Escapes, both had Similar engine problems that I wasn’t willing to tempt fate with a third time. The Explorer was larger than I needed, so I started looking at the Edge. My first test drive, I fell in love! The perfect size between the slightly smaller Escape and the slightly too big Explorer! The one I chose is a SEL, so I have the mytouch feature, power/heated seats, panoramic sunroof, and back up camera. In the time I’ve had it, I’ve experienced an issue in the shifter where I either can’t get into park, or if I get into park, I can’t get back out. It ended up being approximately a $500 fix, however beyond that, I have had zero complaints with this vehicle. Drives well with excellent Umpf as I call it! Smooth turns, takes them well at high speeds! Every feature I paid for was worth the cost! I’m fairly certain the Edge will be my life long vehicle!

Nice but too many problems
The interior is very comfortable and I'm tall-6'4. V6 is a good engine. The problems started at 50K miles. Fan solenoid gave out, had to replace the whole fan assembly. The the sun roof stuck open and they were never able to completely fix it. I stopped using it. Then the brake booster went. When it sounded like either the PTU or water pump was starting to go at 70K mile (either one a 1500$ repair) it was time to trade it in. Too bad I would have kept that car for many more miles.
2013 Edges are AWESOME SUVs ECO DRIVES THE BEST!
The Eco DRIVE GETS AWESOME FUEL ECONOMY. Mine has been as good as 35 miles on the highway.
