I agree - most fun rental car I've ever driven...

2019 Dodge Charger R/T 4dr Sedan (5.7L 8cyl 8A)

I rented a Hertz Charger R/T (with the smaller V8 motor...) for an 800 mile road trip from Santa Barbara to Santa Fe. I was by myself, and would have been bored to death on such a long drive in just about any other rental car...but not the Charger. It was rock solid at 80 / 90 mph (thanks no doubt to the Mercedes chassis) and the sound of that Hemi never got old. Sure - fit and finish is sketchy, the interior looks cheap (although I found the driving position and the seats perfectly comfortable), and Dodge reliability may not be the best - but for about $30K (for an R/T, with available discounts), this car and it's Challenger cousin have to be two of the best bargains around, at least for those of us who want to be able to enjoy our time behind the wheel. To be perfectly honest, I found the Charger more entertaining to drive than my 605hp Audi S8 Plus - I'm not kidding! "Cheap but cheerful" sums up this terrific automobile...

Momma's Back in Black

My van is in the shop having warranty work so I was given a Charger. I have enjoyed the styling of the Charger, also receiving many complements on the "muscle car" sitting in the elementary school parking lot. With its 300 horsepower and 264 lbs of torque, I have very easily left everyone at the light. The smoothness of acceleration combined with the ability to hug any curve transports me back to my younger days. I could only imagine the power of the Hellcat or even a GT. The front seats are incredibly comfortable, even if they are cloth. My kids are struggling to get in and out of the back and complain with the lack of leg room they were accustomed to with our van. They frequently hit their heads getting in. My kids do enjoy the ride but would take their beloved entertainment center over this any day. Overall, the car is a very solid and is convincing enough for me to consider when I don't have as many kids to cart around. I feel like I can have my cake and eat it, too.

Picked up my black 2020 charger a few weeks ago and it is fantastic. Great horsepower and handling. Interior is actually much better than what I remember from my previous Dodge vehicles (2012 Charger, 2014 Challenger). Gas Mileage is ok 16-18 mpg, but mostly around town. Have had the whole family in the car for road trips. Got it without the sunroof for additional headroom. Update, has 8,800 miles now and still loving it

Rented this '19 Charger R/T with a Hemi 5.7 for a business trip that took me a couple hours south of Kansas City. I nicknamed the car "rocketship". I'm a car-guy who restores 60's muscle cars on the side and I had more fun driving this Charger than anything but my 69 Firebird 400 Convertible. It's surprisingly quiet at speed and has all the punch you need at any speed. The suspension ate up potholes and road imperfections while proving stable and always in smooth control. The brakes did their job when an 18 wheeler decided he liked my lane better than his and the handling was surprising flat on turns at speed with almost no body roll....quite a feat given the size and weight of this car. Overall, it was a great experience and if Dodge figures out a way to make the V8 versions all wheel drive, I'd have one in my garage.

I bought this car because my two daughters live and work far away and I visit them often. I wanted something smooth and quiet and I got an outrageous deal on the Charger so I pulled the trigger. So far I think this may be the best car I’ve ever owned, I can’t stop driving it. The v6 has enough power for spirited acceleration and I’m very impressed with the 8 speed transmission-I’ve never been impressed with an automatic tranny before. I’m an old guy (64) and I’ve had no problems using any of the electronics, Apple car play, etc. Very user friendly interface. Getting ready to take the first long trip soon and I’ll update the review with comfort and mileage results.

Love This Beast of a Car

Abigail, 06/27/2020
2020 Dodge Charger SXT 4dr Sedan (3.6L 6cyl 8A)

This car is awesome! While being the SXT model AWD it is considered 'lesser' with the 3.6L V6 but it is nothing to scoff at when compared to other sedans with 300hp. This thing is heavy (comparable in weight to a SUV Volvo) and the AWD system is good. I drove with confidence in March snow/slush/ice in New Hampshire. Keep in mind how good a car is in the snow depends on various factors such as: the AWD system, the car weight, snow tires, and of course the skill of the driver in ice and snow conditions. The interior is very comfortable and the car doesn't feel 'dated' to me despite what some professional reviews say. Then again, I got this Charger after owning a Subaru Legacy...so that would explain a lot! The touch screen responds great, the vented seats are lovely in the summer, and the weight of the car feels confident on twisting roads and powering up hills or zooming onto the highway. I feel safe in the car and it shows in the 5 star safety ratings these get. Of course the biggest complaint with a Dodge muscle car is the gas mileage. I get a solid 21 to 22 mpg combined which is great for going around NH hills and highways. Of course we all want our cars to have 100 mpg but I'd much rather drive the Charger than a Prius!!! I love this car. I will never go back to Subaru after buying this beast of a car. When the garage expands there will be a Scat Pack joining the family!

the only downside is the gas consumption. But the ride and handle is better than most, the power feels amazing. That Hemi growl is what separates this beast from the competition, the stock active exhaust is addictive.. 1 Year Later: I can honestly say this the best bang for your buck when it comes to horsepower, looks, space, reliability and resale value.. It's currently a seller's market, and dealers are offering me more than I paid for my car. One of the last of a dying breed of V8 engines, so I'm gonna hold on to her a little while longer and see what the future holds.

Buy this fine high tuned luxury automobile , you will not regret it , ever. I purchased the 2020 charger HellCat Daytona 308 . It does things that most cars can not do. It handles like royalty and gets down thrashing . It is by far more than a race car you can buy on showroom . It’s has a quiet Luxury ride or thrashing rocketing on corners and straight always. Ages from 10 to 100 love this timeless automobile And rush to see and talk about it with me. I have had many performance and luxury cars. This is by Far the finest I have ever owned (I am 61) . I’m going to keep it till I die and run the miles all over the USA. It’s the greatest Automobile and it’s to bad only a few will have the chance of seeing one.

Dodge, You Built a Winner!

I wanted a car that was safe. I want to not get run over when pulling onto a street, get across wide intersections in the city (where many people seem to think that a red light means "Get out of my way!"), and merge safely on the highway. I also want to not inconvenience other drivers unnecessarily by taking forever to accelerate at a traffic signal or stop sign. Remote start is pretty cool, and I am looking forward to using it in the winter. Had I been able to choose my own features instead of buying what was on the lot, I would have gotten the heated seats and mirrors, and the larger screen with navigation, as well as safety features such as blind spot monitoring. As it is, I do have a manual tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and the base 7-inch screen. I am still learning my way around the UConnect, but SiriusXM is great. I appreciate that the stations are themed, so I can listen to the genre I wish, without having a lot of things thrown in that I really don't want to hear. The steering is much more satisfying than many other cars I have driven. I feel connected to the road in the Charger. The digital speedometer lets me know exactly what speed I am driving so I can drive safely. The keyless entry and push button start, along with the push button trunk entry, are like something out of The Jetsons, and I so appreciate not needing to fumble for my key any longer. I wear the key fob on a lanyard around my neck. The radio volume buttons are on the steering wheel, which makes using the radio much safer. There is also a command button on the steering wheel, so I can verbally change stations without taking my hands off the wheel or my eyes off the road. I can also connect to my phone via Bluetooth, however, I don't do this much because I want to avoid the significant radiation that unfortunately accompanies Bluetooth. But it is nice to know that I can use it if I need to. I have not yet explored the rest of buttons on the steering wheel, but I do know Cruise Control is on it. I've only had my car for about three weeks, so there are many things I do not yet know. It is such fun learning more each day! I had a Dodge Omni Charger way back when, and it was an amazing car. It was the only car that I ever truly enjoyed driving, until now. I am so thrilled to have a newer Charger! My car is black, which would not have been my first color choice. I'm pretty sure it will be an oven in the summer. But I am enjoying learning how to care for the black paint. I have a sunroof, which is not something I would ever have thought I wanted. I had no idea - it is fabulous! I can enjoy light and/or air without having to have the entire top down as I would in a convertible. Plus I can open/close/adjust the sunroof while moving, which one cannot do with a convertible top. I have been driving a Chevrolet HHR for almost three years, and it was pretty cramped inside. It did, however, have a lot of head room (HHR stands for Heritage High Roof). I have noticed that if I want to finish a water bottle in the Charger, the bottle bumps the roof when I tilt it up. I also lightly bump my head occasionally, so I don't know how a really tall person would fare. But the interior of the Charger is comfortable and spacious, and the trunk is cavernous. The front seat has power controls, and the lumbar support even moves higher or lower. My rating is four stars because as the base model, the SXT, the car does not have all the safety features that Dodge offers. Also, it can be difficult to close the trunk because there is really nothing to grab to pull it down, and the paint is pretty slick. And the front door, when open all the way, is pretty much impossible to close from inside the car without either getting partially out of the car or growing longer arms. This could be rather inconvenient if you are trying to get in the car while it is raining. It does, however, give you lots of room to get inside the car without bumping the door. So it is a tradeoff, and the extra entry/exit room trumps the long reach to close the door. I can't tell you a lot of technical details, but I can tell you that this is a wonderful car. It would be well suited for a family as well as a couple or an individual. It moves when I ask it to, handles beautifully, and I feel so much safer knowing I can get out of the way if I need to. It is also a beautiful design, and a pleasure to look at. It has the power of a muscle car, the fun and control of a sports car, and the comfort of a sedan.

Burns lots of fuel. And burns lots of fuel. In case I didn’t mention it, it burns lots of fuel. 14 mpg around town. Might get 16 if you stay out of it, but let’s face it you buy it to romp on it. Car is too new to talk about build quality. Electronics are plentiful and the car is fully tunable as far as performance goes.

Car is great handling performance is excellent, inspires more speed in corners than previous scatpack, thank to the adaptive suspension and 305 wider tires and spaced offset. 6.4 392 cu/in with mds 4 cyl mode allows me to maintain 15-16 mpg on highway city combined, interior panels have been changed since recent years suffered from peeling panels, and feel that it is the one of the past with this new material, android auto/apple car play is needed with your phone to use navigation if you plan to us gps vs purchasing navigation in your model, having few models made for the scatpack widebody (daily track car) the car is currently in high demand even given these current times with covid 19 and potential markets crashing. Overall the heritage maintains and dodge continues to sell high performance vehicles at an incredible price point from other competitors looking for performance sedans while they still can be purchased. Soon the full wave of economy efficient vehicles with hybrid systems or plug ins will eventually take over, get them and enjoy them while you can!

This is a great highway car. It will run 90+ all day long and get good mileage doing it. It has a great transmission, even though my rt only has 375 hp, the 8 speed transmission and good motor torq make it feel and perform really well. What you get for the price is such a bargain. Would buy again.

While my title sounds biased, the car earned it even after five years of saving from military paychecks. I custom ordered my car from the factory while i was stationed in germany and the moment it got there i knew it was special. Even now in south carolina after my PCS it has nothing but compliments. Dodge does and always had used magic to make these machines something to remember. My only ire is that i will absolutly spin when it is wet out. But its hard to tall down to my car.

I recently purchased a used 2019 Charger GT. I paid $24,000 for it and I feel this was a good deal considering others were going for $28,000 w/ the same options. the GT looks like the RT. There is a tradeoff - the GT is quick but the RT is much quicker, but the GT saves a lot on fuel and the insurance is cheaper is well. I love the way it handles and they make a lot of performance upgrades for it as well. Give the GT a look and I think you will be happy!

I bought a previously-owned 2019 Dodge Charger in striking F-8 Green this Spring. The car had just over 9,000 miles on the odometer. This car has it all, even a heated seat and steering wheel. It's the perfect combination of style, power and performance--all in a four-door sedan. I love that when you just lift the front door handle, it immediately unlocks all four-doors. Smooth and responsive this Charger makes every other car I have ever owned look like a 1919 Model T. That doesn't mean I'm knocking 1919 Model Ts. The standard V-6 produces 298-horsepower, the 8-speed automatic provides for good fuel economy. This isn't a cop car, but it sure feels like one when you get behind the wheel and open 'er up. The build quality is exceptional. I don't believe there's a better looking, stylish or faster 4-door sedan out there. Kudos to Dodge for having the car's part built in the U.S. and assembled in Canada. My only fault on the car is its plastic wrap-around front bumper. It cannot take a nudge without deforming or losing its matching color image. If Dodge were to sell some nice, hefty upright supports, that would eliminate that problem.

Awesome ride, ride is a bit on the rough side , but the handling is top notch. Can't wait to get to know it better. Had the car for a year now and still enjoy driving it. The ride is still on the harsh side and the fuel economy is not very good in town. As long as gas stays cheap I am OK with that.

Surprisingly good quality (so far). Fit and finish good, paint quality good, comfort excellent, power ridiculous. Price is excellent for what you get if you wait for the big end of year rebates. No way I would pay full price for it. But, I got $4850 in rebates plus another $4000 rebate then a $1000 dealer discount. In all I got nearly $10,000 off.

I was pleasantly surprised with the power that 6 cylinder could generate and more surprised with the gas mileage. Dodge advertises 30 mpg on the highway but I found on several trips that I was getting just over 31 and that's going through the N.C. Blue Ridge Mountains which the car handles ascending with ease. I'd of given the car a 5 star rating but the cons are interior comfort. The seats are too rigid with not enough cushion and the lumbar support, which I do not use, feels like it will not fully retract. I'm looking to have my seats reupholstered because they are a killer on a long drive even with using seat cushions. There is also not the legroom I expected for the rear seat passengers, from those in their mid teens on up.

This car is easy to drive, but be careful it will get away from you if your not MINDFULL of the horsepower (717) you have under your control. Very confrontable and quite, much more that you would imagine! Braking and handling is superb for a car of this size and weight! Mine #183 of 501 I love it. A pleasure to own and drive.

305 hp is not too impressive for the car's weight. Shame on Dodge for making such a pretty car with this engine. Though the v6 ticks a little, it gets 27 mpg if you don't drive it like it's a charger. Fit and finish is almost perfect. One huge issue arose that is very dangerous. The electric power steering unit is the lowest hanging item on the car. Twice now , Ive torn the wiring harness off the unit with small branches and or road debris, rendering the car unsteerable. No skid plate is available and i would not buy this car because of this bad design. It is also very disappointing they are going all electric, caving to politics with no regard for the publics desire, nor the future price of electricity. Update: “Service AWD” dash warning appeared and the harness for the AWD actuator seems to be tied into the power steering harness and the dealer repaired it only to fail within weeks, with no offer from the dealer to replace the harness and or actuator and power steering unit. Considering the location and importance of these two issues, I traded the car in for a Kia!!!

Bought this car brand new on the lot. Beautiful car, love the interior room, stereo is AMAZING, and power is great for quick acceleration when needed. Only drawback is the door panels on all doors are peeling back from the window. I expected more in this car than that! There is NO WARRANTY on the car to fix it and no recall. This is just trashy on Dodge’s behalf because after a simple google search you’ll find it. This problem goes back several years and not only have they not corrected it, but they refuse to repair at their expense. It’s a rip off to pay for such a beautiful car only to have the inside tear up. I have never had this problem in any vehicle I ever owned and I’ve had some for 10 years or more, this is why I will never ever buy another Dodge. I will go back to Chevrolet. Not only will trade in value suck now because of the doors pulling back but also I have read from other reviewers on Google search that it causes problems with the windows which I can absolutely see that will probably happen and people are even talking about other parts of the car inside around the gearshift pulling back, apparently there’s some kind of issue with the glue made in the factory that they use. A few people that actually took their cars to have the door repaired at their own cost said that after repairing it still pulls back again in a year or two so Dodge still is not fixing the problem. They are doing the same repair to it that they originally did in the factory that caused a problem in the first place.

I have always had a hot rod. This is the only car I've ever had that can handle West Virginia mountains on cruise control. I drove this car up and down the east coast several times and got about 24 miles to the gallon. It sticks to the road nicely in turns that would flip my old G8. If you have a healthy respect for the power you will be fine. I think the brakes should be better because the power is insane. I've done about 130ish and that is feathering the pedal if you tried to jam that pedal, you'll die! I was doing about 80 and when I went under a bridge thought I hit the gas to hear the amplification and nearly smashed into a tractor trailer. Don't do that this car will kill you if you act stupid. The most negative thing is the dudes in crummy cars always trying to race me and being bitter they got beat by a girl. Then the dope boys who are always trying to steal it. In Arkansas I almost got car jacked they thought twice after they saw my dog he's 130lbs. They didn't care at all about my wireless hole puncher. Get you one but just know the criminals will love it just as much as you do. Cops hate them because they know they're no match for this monster. Other than the open recall that has no solution I haven't had any problems yet. Cold Starts are delicious! Husband hated that I bought this car and that makes me lmao! No regrets!

The Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody is a really nice car. Everything someone would want in a muscle car but just a little too big for me. I own a 2019 C43 AMG coupe, it is smaller and handles winding roads much better. Off the line, The Charger is beastly. Great car I just a little too big for my taste.

Ive had my 2020 4 years now, and it still looks and almost feels like the day I bought it off the lot brand new. One thing I notice is that my radio every once in a while doesn't want to either come on, or sync/pair with blue tooth or other electronics, so there seems to be an electrical issue going on. Like I said, its been four years and now it's happening. Also, I feel like it takes an extra push to pick up speed. Im not sure if its too much muscle, and not light weight enough, but it doesn't go fast off rip, you gotta use some pedal action for a minute. Also, the brake rotter seem to rust really bad. I noticed that when I first got the vehicle. Not good! And last, for me, the car colors are awesome, and I always get compliments on it BUT Dodge did not put real thought in the paint that they used on our vehicles. ITS THE WORST PAINT JOB EVER! You can literally put a scratch on your car easily. You see every mark. it boldly holds scratches. Ive NEVER seen a car paint do that, and Ive had many vehicles. We paid too much for cheap paint DODGE! Other than that, I love my car and im almost done paying it off....i will get a new paint job then.

A cool but unreliable vehicle

I believe the Charger I drove was the "SXT" trim. It don't think it was displayed anywhere on the body of the vehicle or in the manual. I got it as a rental after expressing a lot of discomfort driving a 2020 Chevy Spark after getting tboned in my 2014 Honda Civic. I don't have much experience driving newer cars, but I was pretty impressed with the features. The vehicle's handling is a bit sluggish. It feels like you're driving a bulky car. Not sure if it's because of its weight or the difference between my FWD Civic and a RWD Charger. I was not bothered by any of this though. I would really like to own one of these one day in the future. It's a very good-looking car. However, my rating stems mainly from the mechanical issues I experienced. I was driving my gf home and on my way back I got a message in the dash saying to service the "Traction Stability Control" and then a couple of seconds later it changed to "Service Trans" and then weird instructions for stopping the car that I couldn't really make sense of. The acceleration changed drastically once this happened. It was really difficult to get the car moving from a complete stop. Even if I brought it to 3000 RPM it just seemed like barely any power was being supplied to the wheels, and I did not want to push it too much in fear of making things worse. So I pulled off at a gas station, put it in park, and turned the car off. But a lot of things were unusual about the state of the car. It was telling me that it wasn't in park and when I tried to turn it back on and shift to Reverse, I couldn't move at all. I don't think the car was actually able to shift despite moving the gear stick. I had to get a ride home since it was practically immobile. I've had zero engine problems with my Civic, so I'm extremely disappointed. I don't think I drove the Charger for a full week before problems started. I don't think I'll ever be driving one again unless it's another rental that isn't my problem when it decides to break down. Suffice to say, it's a cool-looking car if you're into that, but I don't trust Chargers and perhaps even Dodge at all anymore. Haven't driven Jeeps or Chrystlers so I have nothing to say about those manufacturers (They're under the same parent company if you weren't aware.) So I'll stick to Honda in the future since from experience, their reliability is near immaculate.
