Great Car, Bad Tranny

To this day the car still get's comments on how roomy and comfortable it is. Chrysler hit it right with this automobile. Engine is strong, and has never left me stranded. I have experienced lots of problems with the Transmission, a Chrysler Weak Spot! Definatley a good choice, check Trans and A/C before buying.

Vehicle bought with 50,000 miles w\extended warranty for up to 75,000 miles. Transmission crapped out at 82,000 miles. Cost of repairs $3100.00, fixed on 4-01. There's more! One year later $2200.00 more spent on water pump, timing belt & ac repairs. Is this insane or what!! To have to spend over $5300.00 in a year's time for repairs is pretty pathetic. I will never buy a Chrysler product again!!!

Overall terrible car...transmission went out twice..once at 47,000 and then again at 83,000. Compressor went out three times! Also, rack and pinion out at 92,000 and a constant leaking of various locations. Yes, the ride is good and the sound system is good but not much of a consulation in hot weather when you are broken down with tranny problems or a broken compressor. Chrysler dealerships are way over priced for the most part (except most Florida dealers) in Georgia.

I bought this car in 8/98 with 75k miles. It now has over 161k and I just love it. Lots of space inside my family is all tall & whenever we go anywere we take the LHS because a 6 foot person can fit in the front or back with no promblem. The trunk is huge, with a full spare hidden there. Got to take one for a ride you will love it. The leather sites are very nice, & so is the control panels. Tells me how many miles until I'm on E. I have had to do some maintenance but heck with 161k who wouldn't. Nothing to extreme, just the basic. Tie-rod ends, a/c compressor, brakes, tires, timing belt, & other routine maintance.

Exceptional Concept / Sub-Par Execution

I recently purchased this luxury vehicle in Sept 06' from a retired couple in Pittsburgh, PA. It was used only for church and supermarket trips (only 10,552 miles). Drove terrific at first until actual usage and commute driving became routine. After only 5K miles, started experiencing transmission shutters and poor engine performance. Interior has misc shakes/rattles and wheels are virtually impossible to keep clean. Interior comforts are fabulous and rich and fuel economy is suitable. I like the trunk space and overall exterior design with smooth ride. However after only 16K miles and many negative reviews, I am fearing major mechanical problems.

I was hit by a ford 350 dually hauling a 38 foot trailer at 50 mph side impact. My vehicle spun like a top. I hit a telephone pole after being struck by the 350 ford. The ford 350 and trailer we totaled so was my chrysler LHS but I had suffered no injury. This car impressed me so much We just purchased another LHS. Curt Olson R.N MSN

Big, clunky, boat-like: these are all adjectives I could use to describe our 94 LHS. Fuel economy is lacking. The paint is peeling on the trim surrounding the car. The rims look terrible. As others have mentioned, A/C is GONE. Blows hot no matter what temp--luckily we live in Washington state and don't really need an A/C. Other than these few issues (easily dealt w/ b/c we only paid $1200 for her in '06), we have got a sturdy, long-lasting, comfortable family car. We're driving it until it dies, and saving plenty of money for a replacement in the meantime. We've replaced the brakes, tires, and done regular maintenance. $1200/48 months=$25/month. FYI: car = no more than 20% income.

This big comfortable car gave me about 150,000 mostly trouble-free miles. I would have kept it longer, but I lived in a rural area where the dark little roads required bright lighting. The high beams were very wimpy, and the standard lights were effective for about 30 feet. The brakes were also inadequate for this big boat. I often smelled a burning odor going down long, winding roads. The lack of new airbag technology made this car unsafe for a family.

Just bought this car with 89,000 miles. The kids love the cushy roomy interior. I like the Infinity sound system! The transmission was replaced and the car idles roughly (bounces alot). I will address that easily (I hope)..Otherwise for $700 this one can't be beat...so far so good. Yes the trunk is big enough to hold a ton! Doesn't have mush power for a big car. But given the $3.00/gallon gas prices I am not complaining about the 6 cylinders.

Bought used in 1996 with 19,000 miles on it. Replaced all components of the AC and had a new torque converter installed at 200,000 miles. Currently needs complete suspension overhaul but I can't bear to part with it. I commute over 100 miles a day. The security of the large vehicle, the stability and comfort of the ride have prevented me from seeking a replacement. I would rather spend $1,500-$2,0000 dollars a year in maintenance than than pay $35,000 for a new econobox that barely offers the same amenities I have in this vehicle.

Bought this car for a song. Has over 230,000 miles and still going pretty well, but getting a little long in the tooth. Had the transmission rebuilt, then again under warranty. Had front tie rods & ball joints replaced, misc. other problems. A/C was great until last year, now has a leak. Overall, I've learned to live with the car's quirks & it's been very reliable. For the person who has clim. ctrl problems. Reset the climate control by putting it in test mode and it will no longer be "hot all the time" I periodically have to do this to mine. Google for info--not enough space here. Original alternator lasted till 210K miles, still on original starter. Exhaust system is orig. too.

I just bought this last month for only $1,100 with 121,229 miles on it. So far out of 51 cars I've owned since 1986 (95% of them were Dodges, Chryslers & Plymouths) this is probably the best overall car I have ever had!! I have taken it on a couple long road trips and it's a really smooth great car. It's amazing that such a big car can get such great gas mileage! About 18 MPG in town and about 31 MPG on the highway. So far it has needed new hood lifts from a junkyard for cheap, d.i.y. recharge the A/C with 134A which now blows very cold and replacing the console cup holders. I would highly recommend this car to anyone! This isn't the last, after this one I will buy another probably a 1997.

I've owned this vehicle since it was 2 years old and 34,000 miles. It now has 94,000 on it with no major repairs that weren't taken care of by warranty. The sound system no longer works, but it was very nice when it did. The driver's seat forward adjustment no longer works without some help. The car consistently gets 23.4 mpg average in my driving, which is mostly highway with some city mixed in. Considering it's size, it's pretty stingy with a gallon of gas, & it handles beautifully. I loved this car from the first time I saw it advertised by Chrysler and had to have one. I have never been disappointed by it. The car is amazing with the 3.5 litre v-6 (it thinks it's a V-8).

Bought the car with 34k miles on it which had been owned by a retired dentist. The car was literally a dream purchase for us. We purchased it for 12900 and it was great until the repairs started coming. I had to have it towed twice, once when it blew the timing belt and water pump, and once for a recall item with the fuel line that was to have supposedly been fixed. My major beef with the car has been the Automatic Temperature Control Head which runs the climate control. My A/C has gone out on me twice and repairs are never cheap on this car. I've put at least 3500 - 4500 in repairs on it in the last 4 1/2 years. I'm ready to get rid of it.

Excellent car for the money - with just some slight performance adjustments, a real rocket now [K/N filter, and redone intake system]. I purchased for $8000 CDN [$5000 USD] - in mint, showroom condition. Everything works, and works perfectly - it's now almost as fast as my SHO now... and gets 28MPG.

I put 100,000 miles on this car in 4 years. Bought it at 40,000 miles. Every mile driven in pure luxury! Soft leather seats. TONS of room in the back and trunk. Lots of little extras. HOWEVER, it has had problems all along the way. Tranmission dropped from 3rd to 2st gear while driving it at 55 mph! Rebuilt it...still problems. Air conditioner motor died two years ago. Everything is going now. Too many repairs now. Hate to see it go though! I will miss the comfort..don't think it can be replaced easily or economically!

I purchased this vehicle in like new condition inside and out with 89K miles. The interior: Beautiful and amenities too numerous to mention. (Most new vehicles have the same upgrade options that this car has as standard equipment.)The seating is very spacious and the soft glove leather seats are very comfortable. LOTS of head and leg room. Exterior styling still seems current...no "boxy boat". The trunk is enormous...you could throw in a cot and rent it out!

Okay everyone knows that Chrysler has a reliability problem. But even though they have all thase problems you have to admit they do have some really good designs for new cars. I bought this car from a used-to-be family friend. It had oh 189999 somin like that. But anyway, that car was the nicest car that I have evr owned. It has such a GREAT ride its appearence is flawless. It may sound and look perfect but that dosent mean that it IS perfect. I will forever stand behind this car. I love this car BUT!!! There is no hiding the fact that it does have some mechanical problems. Oh but comon whats a few repairs yearly. What I always say is that if you like the car, Then Buy one, and have fun!!

Actually this car was my mothers, she bought it in 96' with 30k already on it. Had to replace water pump a few times and 3 transmissions before 100k miles. But good thing all thid was covered in a warranty. But even better the car's engine locked up at 105k so it was no longer a headache. However dangerous since the engine locked up on her while on the freeway...

I really like this car overall. It is a pleasure to drive and is very comfortable inside. The power is good and gas mileage acceptable. The mechanicals however leave something to be desired. The A/C has been replaced three times and is currently out of commission. The transmission has been replaced once also. Fix the A/C and transmission and the car would be a 10.

This thing floated down the road like no other. It had such a nice engine note when pushed. The seats were about as comfy as they came. Options galore for an early-mid 90's luxury ride. It turned heads all over campus wherever I went. So much interior space. If I could find an untouched, factory-new example I'd buy it in a heart beat.

It is a big, safe, comfortable car. It also is kind of fun to drive for being big. It rides good on the highway, primarily what I use it for. Had the timing belt tensioner break off at 93,000 miles, D'OH!!! A couple weeks later and a Chrysler reman motor, it's all good. Though I don't think the motor should've gone at 93,000 miles. The new motor aside, it has been a trouble free car. I would reccomend one to anyone who wants and needs a big car.

Purchased new (left-over) and currently have 125K+ miles. All things considered, I have enjoyed this car. Repair history: Front suspension starting clunking at 3000m (replacement covered by warranty). Infinity CD quit around 40K miles. Company wouldn't fix/replace. Dealer stated "buy a new CD player, it's cheaper." AC repaired twice. Front end clunking started again at 80K miles. Wiring harness melted at 120K miles ($2800 replacement on a car worth $2000.) Transmission now going, not willing to pay $3000 repair.

A gorgeous, stylish, roomy, comfortable, eye-catching vehicle. A scene-stealer. Problems in the 6 mos. I've had it: •A/C compressor stopped working •Compression failure injector #1 •Driver's side window motor failed •Tie rods and inner bushings EXCESSIVE wear (the rack replaced just 1.5 yrs before) •Rear brake rotors excess distortion (note to chrysler: a BIG car requires a high-end brakes, otherwise excess heat warps the rotors) A gorgeous, stylish, roomy, comfortable, eye-catching vehicle. A MONEY-stealer. ADVICE: Enjoy riding in it if your friend has one!
