Used 2000 Chevrolet Tracker Consumer Reviews
My Trusty Steed
I bought this car off of a friend for $800 3 years ago. I love this car and I can honestly say that's been the best $800 I've ever spent. When I bought the car it needed to have the left drivers side CV boot replaced, before I replaced the CV boot I drove the vehicle for about 6 months. Around year 2 I had to get the alternator replaced. I've put all new tires on it and have really just kept up with regular maintenance on it. It had I think about 80,000 miles on it when I got it because it was really just pulled behind an RV before my friend got it and she only drove it for about a year. After I've owned it for the past 3 years, I've got it up to 115,000 miles.

Tracker 2 door,fun on 4 wheels
A great zippy little SUV for two almost as fun to drive as a bike is to ride. However, not a road trip vehicle. If your over 6 foot, get out and stretch every hour. 4 wheel drive in the winter is barely lower than the normal 25 to 27 mpg.

Use of my Tracker since new
I purchased this vehicle new for a towed vehicle behind my motorhome. It was one of few light weight vehicles that could be towed 4 down. It has only 26000 miles as of this date, and I use it almost daily. I have had no problems with it and except for some wind noise, and low horsepower, I think it is a great vehicle and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off. Thanks
Underrated
Solid vehicle. We have 2WD LT 2.0. Have had no problems in 2.5 years other than squeaky belts. Dealer has replaced pulley, Catalytic Converter and dressed the belts. I have my own spray on those humid days. Other than that minor issue - this is a reliable, reasonably well-built, utilitarian vehicle. Handles well but the 2.0 takes some planning on the freeway. I prefer BMWs but this little ladder-framed truck is okay to flip around. Just underpowered. Not an issue on fire roads and worse. Eats it up. Well-designed in that respect. Front seat are a little skimpy. Overall, get one. They are very undervalued on the used market.
Nice little SUV
Nice body style, but looks roomier than it is. Front seats have tons of space, and excellent headroom for tall folks, but back seats are cramped for anyone over 5'7" (great for carseats, though). Surprisingly good fuel economy for a 4X4. 4 wheel drive is easy to use, trouble-free. Outstanding in deep snow! Periodic irritating rattle from sides of dashboard - it comes and goes, not sure of the cause. Interior materials are cheap (plastic scratches easily), and the body seems to dent easily - but what do you expect for a car under 15 grand? Absolutely no mechanical problems. Excellent vehicle for the money.
