Used 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Consumer Reviews
Big Dog Motor Rocks
I traded my 94 K2500, 6.5 diesel for the 8.1 vortex with the Allison tranny and all I can say is wow!!. The Big Dog Motor pulls my 5th wheel with no effort at all especially when it comes to climbing long......hills. Combined with the Allison tranny, this is the best power drive train that a RVer could dream for save for the Duramax. I get about 10.5 mpg when towing and 14 mpg when not which is not to bad with 4.10 gearing. My wife likes the quiet ride although it's little stiffer than the old truck (new truck has the camper package). The 03 exterior stying is Ok but a prefer the older 02.
UnHappy Owner
I had to take the Truck in 4 times to get the AC worked on, they replace the compresor once and still takes 4 to 5 minutes to start to get cold air from the AC system. NO good when you live in Florida. I see alot of people with chevrolet truck with one burn driving light and now I join them 600 Hour on the Enging and already changing a bulb, I don't think is very good qualaty. and last thing. DO NOT drive your truck in the woods, any brush will scratch your pain, again low quality.

Great Truck
This truck is much more fun to drive and handles very well as compared to a 1500 model. You cannot over-work or over-haul this truck.
I LOVE THIS TRUCK!
I drive to work and look over the traffic. I can see a backup in time to take an exit. The Personal Driving electronics is a great help to stay off the gas, but the power is there when needed! God Love American V-8s! When I get to work I want to go drive somewhere for lunch. I can drive my friends now that I have 4 doors. My S-10 wouldn't let me take 'the gang'. My 12 yr old son loves to climb up into the truck and then as we drive, he can look over the guradrail into the countryside. My neighbor has an older Chevy diesel and you could hear the pride as he talked about HIS Chevy and 150000 miles already. I'm a Chevy Man, man!
My 2500HD Deisel with Allison Tranny
You did not list the excellent Duramax diesel option, nor the 5 speed Allison transmission. I recently purchased this vehicle, and can honestly say that I am astounded at it's performance. Since we are going to upsize the trailer soon, I bought the new truck to handle nearly any trailer towing possibility we may have in the immediate future. The torque from this engine is unbelievable, and the Allison tranny hooks up with the engine so smoothly that it is indeed a pleasure to drive. We have seen a 20% decrease in fuel consumption, and feel much more secure in braking situations, and downhill situations. A great truck!
