The worse decision I ever made.

2006 Chevrolet Impala SS 4dr Sedan (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

I bought this car brand new and spent the first 12 months in and out of dealerships to fix, repair, replace, or other wise upgrade something that has broken or been recalled. Since then, I have found out that the brake rotors are smaller then they should be for a car this size, the A/C unit has several issues dealing with the compressor clutch, and blend door actuators (keep a stock of those if you have this car.) The steering is horrible and I've had multiple issues with the power steering (hoses, rack and pinion, etc.) The transmission will live only to its warrenty and no longer. Be prepared to get a new one after 75,000 miles. It leaks oil like no other car I've ever driven.

140k miles and it never let me down.

I bought new and have 140k miles so far. I have detected a little slippage in the tranny recently. Other than that, never a problem, just basic maintenance. Fast, comfortable, sedan. Torque steer is evident and annoying at first. Once you get used to it you know how manage it.

Disappointing

2006 Chevrolet Impala LT 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

Purchased my new '06 Impala LT, glacier blue, new in late July '06. Now have 2100 miles on it. Performance of the 3.5L V6 is perfectly acceptable for my 60 mile round-trip daily commute. Gas mileage has been around 22mpg regardless of driving conditions and A/C use (nowhere near the 21/32 rating on the sticker...I expected to average around 24-25 overall). Exterior build quality excellent. Interior build quality poor. Numerous creaks/squeaks/rattles in the dash. Driver seatback creaks when you lean back or shift in the seat. Seat also creaks when going around turns or even just accelerating from a stop. OEM Goodyear tires are dangerous in the rain. I plan to trade in 2yrs.

I have to say that this is my favorite car I have ever owned. I have owned BMW 330, Cadillac STS v8 northstar, Mopar 5.7 hemi, Benz e320 and I love the way this car performs and drives. It is the best V8 I have ever driven. All I can say is I love Chevy and the next car I am buying will be a Chevy Corvette I want more power and performance now. This car is great and I bought it used with all service records and it's nice. It such a value.

Enjoyable and Simple Sedan

I have driven this impala for almost 37,000 miles now it had about 35,000 on it when I started driving this car. It completely changed what I expected from a car. I had previously thought that all cars where like the honda pilot aka: uncomfortable however this car with the seat warmers is absolutely wonderful. I regularly commute about 2 hours a day and have very little back pain the whole time. I also took this car on a road trip from Ohio to Alabama and experienced only a small amount of discomfort. This car is surprisingly reliable considering it is the first model of its generation. Some people may think that the stereo is outdated. However, I find it works fine for my needs.
