Used 2006 Chevrolet Impala Consumer Reviews
Poor Mileage
Love the way the vehicle drives. The gas mileage is bad. We can't get the mileage it says it's supposed to.
Impala GAS (SS)
I was in the market for an SUV and I wanted a foreign brand. I felt a loyalty toward American cars so went to a dealer to look at a TrailBlazer. I saw the Impala SS, test drove it, and was hooked. I forgot how fun it was to drive--it all came back to me when I touched the gas pedal. This was the CAR. I am not a fan of leather so I was happy to find a black Impala with cloth. I also have a 2005 Accord V6 coupe. The mpg listed on the sticker is 29 HGWY, my Impala is listed at 28, a one mile difference, but that is as close as the Honda can come to the Impala. OnStar, remote start, power, ride. I would like to use reg gas in it though.
Great car
I just bought my new Impala LS. The base model has everything I need. Onstar side, impact airbags, Power windows, locks, 8way power drivers seat and a 211HP V6. It has great handling and pickup. I would recommend this car to anyone.
2006 Impala SS
Just traded 98 STS that I drove for 140k miles. My new SS has been evrything I expected. Way more fun to drive, plenty of performance but a little short on acessories as compared to the STS. I live in the Northeast so the fwd is necessary, but the torque steer is NOT an issue. Educated drivers paying attention to road conditions will enjoy this vehicle at a very competitive price. Do I miss my 2 driver memory settings and heated rear seats, sure, but I don't miss the service costs that came with the $52k msrp STS. I am enjoying the "sleeper" that this car is when all those soccer Mom's try to pass me on the right. Good Luck!
Disappointing SS
This car has all the horsepower and torque that Chevy boasts plus some. However, I'm severely disappointed in the multiple problems I've had with this car including the rack and pinion being replaced twice, steering shaft replacement, tire monitor problems and excessive oil consumption between oil changes. In my opinion, Chevy should have made this a rear wheel drive car. Being front wheel drive, it has too much torque steer. Also the brakes feel inadequate for the size and power of the car. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. As soon as I can, I will trade it in for something other than Chevy.
