My Dream Car
This is our 5th DTS and it is by far the very best. Black on black. So quiet it's hard to believe! Why someone would not buy or lease this luxury car is beyond me. They have acheived a blend of all that a luxury auto should be in this car. I highly recommend tis wonderful American made automobile.
Love Mine
I love the power combined with the smooth ride of the Cadillac DTS.

Typical GM Incompetence
Car has many, many problems, including cooling system probs, power steering pump, suspension problems, brakes are horrible, sunroof leaks, needs rear control arm ($1200 job), & too much more to list. going back to foreign car! For a 55k car new, GM is a joke!

A Beautiful Disaster
I bought this car used from a car lot as is about two months ago. I immediately fell in love with the car and was very happy with it. Everything seemed ok on it and I just decided to go ahead and spend on new wheels and tires. Again...Very happy with everything. The time came where I wanted to have the coolant flushed. I assumed that it had never been flushed, so I was basically just doing my due diligence with proper maintenance. My mechanic called me back and said that he didn't have time to flush the coolant. I retrieved my car and took it home rather puzzled. I didn't understand the abruptness behind his decision so I decided to investigate the coolant system. Upon doing so I noticed the coolant was sludgy, almost pudding like. After further investigating I noticed a small but steady oil leak coming from underneath the oil pan. After that, I began doing my research on the V8 Northstar motor. At first I was calm about everything. I figured this would cost some money to repair, but I had no idea how much. I initially figured I'd have to spend a couple thousand to get everything right. I called numerous mechanics about the oil leak and ALL of them flat out said "no thank you" to the job. Upon further research I realized that in order to fix an oil leak in those motors, the entire engine needs to be pulled, taken apart, and then re-sealed. The job to do so was quoted to me by a Cadillac dealership for a whopping 5K (Five thousand dollars)! I then mentioned the thick, sludgy coolant to the service mechanic at Cadillac and he immediately added another three thousand dollars to the job (assuming it was a blown head gasket). The body of the car itself is in mint condition, the car rode like a dream, everything in it works beautifully, but this is going to cost me a major amount of money to fix. I contemplated just cutting my losses and trading it in for whatever I could get, but was only met with terrible offers that wouldn't even come close to recouping what I spent on the rotors, tires, and wheels. It's been a sickening experience for me personally. I'm completely dejected over this and just need to push forward with the whole thing. I ultimately have decided to just repair the damn thing. It's going to be done by an actual Cadillac mechanic at a Cadillac dealership where a two year warranty will be attached to the job. In total, between buying the car, the upgrades I did to it, and the motor work, I will have around 20 thousand dollars in the car. That of course wasn't my initial plan when I bought this, but that's where I'm at with it. I'm going to fix it, it'll be right afterwards and I can move on. With that said, I will never EVER buy another Cadillac again. I have been doused with nothing by regret since buying this, but at this point...It's like a bad child. I can't give up on it, I just have to get it right and move on. *Update* I had the entire engine resealed last August. To fix everything along with other minor things that were wrong with the car, the grand total came to about 8K. Definitely more than I would have wanted to get into, but it's done now. The car is running great so far. I had some suspension work done, but nothing major. If I can get five years out of her, it will have been worth it.

Much to be desired
The car looks nice enough but interior design needs help, may as well put the radio and A/C panels & controls on the floor since it is necessary to turn & look down to see them. The seat belt buckle is difficult to find jammed up by the center console. The plastic interior is poor quality for a LUX car. The ride is smooth the engine power is good, steering could be tighter. This car rides and handles no better than my base 01 De Ville and lacks the comfort. The controls in the arm rest are poor design resting my arm on it the windows go down and the controls are touchy. There are too many DIC switches. The tire monitor has stopped working. Rear visibility past the rear doors down the side.
