Used 2016 BMW 3 Series 328i xDrive SULEV 4dr Sedan AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 8A) Consumer Reviews
The critical safety issue warrants a one star
Leased the 2016 328i xDrive. Drive fine for two years or so until one day, the engine revved when stopped fully at a light, causing the car lurching forward, rear ending the car in front of me. This has been a known issue, BMW head engineer took weeks investigating blah blah blah, conclusion is nothing wrong. They won’t even let me end my lease early!! Note, my foot was on the braking, full stop, so naturally I let go of the brake, & the car just jumped forward, I immediately braked again but couldn’t hold it back. NEVER A BMW AGAIN.
Efficient and Sporty BMW
The 2L AWD BMW is powerful fun on mountain roads. Handles wet roads with grace. Transfer is seamless and power is on hand for fun. Great value, build quality is top notch. Interior is very comfortable. We still have the car in 2021 and it is still a dream. No maintenance issues. Reliable everyday.

Disappointed
I owned a 2003 E46 325i convertible and a 2007 e90 328i sedan and they have been some of my favorite cars ever. I was excited to get a used 2016 328xi. Needless to say I was very disappointed. The steering is nowhere near as good as previous generations. It feels so floppy and there is no communication. You put it in sport mode and it feels artificially heavy. BMW has taken the ultimate driving machine and made it not nearly as fun. It’s still a good car, the engine gets you going quickly, the sport seats with thigh extensions are fantastic and it is a great long distance cruiser. It’s just not that special to drive anymore. The infotainment system was average to say the least. My iPhone had struggles to connect many times. Very annoying. It’s a 2016 and didn’t have Apple car play while many cheap cars do. I like the idrive functionality and it works well. Oh, the steering wheel is one of the worse around. Unless you get the m-sport package, your “leather wrapped” steering wheel feels about as nice as a Nissan Sentra. Also, the size of it covers most of the instrument panel and you can’t see everything. In the past two years I have owned a 2015 Audi A3 2.0T, this 2016 BMW 328xi and a 2017 Vw Golf GTI and the BMW was the least favorite of the list. I wanted to love it, but eventually got rid of it for the GTI and I have much more fun in the GTI and the infotainment is much better!
