We purchased our Audi SQ5 to replace a Jaguar XF, I really enjoyed the Jaguar with its 340hp supercharged engine, but it lacked utility in cargo and towing. The SQ5 has the added utility and with better performance figures. For direct comparison, we also own a 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. The SQ5 is quicker and "sportier", but the Nautilus is competitive with its upgrade 2.7L engine. (Audi 349hp, 369 torque; Lincoln 335hp, 380 torque) The SQ5 has better outward visibility and has the feel of a lighter vehicle, but the Nautilus has the nicer interior with more storage. Both were similar in final price; for which we exhausted the Nautilus option list but had to limit the SQ5 add-ons. I expect we will take the SQ5 on shorter trips (for which it is capable of either hauling our boat or bikes) and take the Nautilus on longer trips with its added storage and more accommodating 23-way adjustable seats. We looked at the M-B GLC and the BMW X3 also; they are all great choices. The difference mainly lies in the buyers' priorities. UPDATE: Our SQ5 was purchased to replace MY Jaguar, but my wife has taken over the Audi. She loves its quickness; with two turbos, there is no turbo lag. Like a sports car for shopping. But that is no problem for me; our Alfa Romeo is also very fun to drive. UPDATE: 5/22 My wife is still in love with (my) Audi SQ5, but I do not mind, we have two other nice cars. I did get to drive the Audi yesterday; noticed that we are getting 23.2 mpg on what is mainly city/suburban driving. The Audi A/C stopped working at one point but was repaired under warranty for no cost. 12/22 update: I officially switched cars with my wife. The Audi SQ5 is 'her car' and the Alfa Romeo Giulia is now mine. The Audi is a great vehicle; she loves the SUV feel of sitting up high with great outward visibility plus the modest size and quick performance. I like the smaller size and sports car feel of the Alfa. There are few 'bad' cars out there; it is more a matter of finding the one that fits your priorities. Our Nautilus continues to be our family workhorse. Yesterday, I used it to move furniture which would not have fit in either of the other two vehicles. Update: 6/23 The SQ5 is now at 17K miles (3 vehicles for the two of us, plus we are gone 10+ weeks per year) and my wife is still in love with it. Flawless with no complaints whatsoever. I drive it occasionally, but otherwise split my time between the Nautilus and Alfa Romeo with no regrets. (The Alfa is now six years old, 31K miles, with no issues. Nautilus is at 37K miles and also flawless.) Update 5/24: I doubt if we will be buying a new vehicle any time soon. When I look at new cars, all I see are higher prices with no improvement in their functionality. My wife still loves the SQ5. Splitting our driving between three vehicles plus air travel, means that we don't rack up miles very quickly on the vehicles we have.

Purchased 9/28/19 from jack daniel route 4 NJ. $41000/ 28600 miles. So far water pump failed and got changed, heating system failed and got changed, driver window making noise got fixed. Antenna is slightly unglued, Audi would not replace under warranty so I put crazy glue. Center light bulb on right side bumper does not switch on, Audi says it got bumped so they won’t changed under warranty. Continental tires really suck, if I still have that car when it is time to change tires I will get Michelin. The major defect on the car is the ABS brakes system that adjust itself every time you start driving after less than 15 seconds, it is like a crunching/ clicking noise not to loud but can be noticeable at low speed, and coming from dashboard, Audi says it is normal on the 2018, 2019 but no longer on the 2020. Car has 40527 miles now 11/22/20 the 40000 maintenance was $995. Not sure if I keep the car after 49000 miles. In 2012 I bought a new 2013 Q5 and I had no problem until I sold it in 2016, but this one was built in Europe. The SQ5 is made in Mexico.

We had a previous Q5 for my wife and have taken that on long trips from California to Indiana and back from Calif., and recently to the Colorado Rockies. No problems even with 80k miles on it and it handled terrifically on narrow mountain roads, such as the million dollar highway from Ouray to Durango Co. We decided we wanted to upgrade for more power and handling so we bought the SQ5 this year. The car has no blind spots (they improved rear view mirrors location), is perfect in the corners and it is large enough to feel secure on the freeway but not so large to feel like you are being squeezed between the lanes. We tried and drove a Lexus LX 350 F type; two types of Mercedes, GLE, GLC; the Porsche Macon, Volvo xc60 and BMW X5 and X3. All great suvs, but in our view, the SQ5 seemed the most stable cornering and had even responsive power when accelerating. (Okay, the Macon was just as good in the corners and acceleration, but it had less interior space). Best of all, because of the abundance new 2021 cars available, we got a very good deal on the price as well. As of 2/24, no problems and we remain very happy with the SQ5.

I Pace S is classy and makes you look like a hairdresser, AMG GLC and X3 M are from the Hammer House of Horrors so is it the Macan ? But why pay for that little clock on the dash, but then again you would need to have some original thought to take the best all rounder.

I am at the end of my 3 year lease of a loaded SQ5. A blast to drive and a less common sight on the road (which I like) but from the driver’s seat, the electronics are quirky and not intuitive. The CarPlay often does not connect and functions are limited. Navigation is difficult to use and there is no touchscreen. The engine off while stopped caused a jerky stop because the engine turns off before fully stopped. If I had to choose a vehicle based on Audi garage servicIng quality, my experience has been so disappointing that I would have to pass on acquiring a new Audi in 2021.
