Great Ride, Questionable Tech

I've had the car about 2 weeks. The acceleration is surprisingly good for a 4cyl. engine and as some reviews have said the brake feel is a bit odd - but you get used to it. On the first acceleration after a cold start the transmission has some trouble figuring out where it should be, but that goes away very quickly. The car is "nimble". It's not a sports car, but for an SUV, it's amazingly agile. It's also QUIET inside; well insulated from road noise, pervasive on the worn-thin road surfaces the Seattle area- a real blessing. As pointed out in some reviews, the pillars are rather thick and block a complete view. Tear window, due to it's angle, provides a truncated vertical view. Also, getting in and out (I'm average height) is a careful procedure due to the rake of the A pillar. Electronics: The screen is on the small side which isn't really an issue except for the backup camera. Also when using Waze or Google Maps or any other function with Android Auto, it's hard to do anything else with the infotainment system - not impossible, but difficult at best. (I don't know if it's car's fault or that of Android Auto.) All in all, I'm very happy with it.

Finally a fine handling, standout SUV!

The Stelvio is a well balanced (50/50 weight distribution) Vehicle. It's handling in all conditions New England can throw at is extremely competent. The Q4 all wheel system is seamless and compliments this primarily rear wheel drive platform. I am currently averaging 24.5 mpg and have seen 31.5 mpg @ 70-75 mph consistently on the highway. It is a great city vehicle due to the responsive, stable handling, great visibility and a strong powertrain. The 8 speed ZF transmission compliments the 2.0 Liter turbo. It is never left flat-footed in a traffic situation where horsepower and torque is needed. The HVAC system heats and cools the cabin very well with minimal fan noise. The tremendous, 3 setting, heated seats and steering wheel are welcoming on a 10 degree morning! The body panels are aluminum, bonded to a high strength steel inner structure. No creaks, groans or flex! It has a 5 star Euro NCAP safety rating (built like a vault!) Reliability has been perfect. Zero issues in 6,000 miles of New England winter and spring roads. I drove all of the competitors (BMW, Audi, Acura, Volvo). I saw no reason to buy any one of them. It drives that much better and has a 110 year history of handling superiority and powertrain excellence to support that. What more can I say!

Unreliable, poor service

Carguy, 11/02/2019
2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio 4dr SUV AWD (2.9L 6cyl Turbo 8A)

The most unreliable vehicle with the poorest service I've experienced. Check engine light from the first day of ownership. Dealers stating no loaners available, no service possible for 2+ weeks. Dropped off the new vehicle for service, Ubered home, 3 weeks later still not repaired. The car has sat longer in for service than I've had it in my driveway and I've owned it less than 45 days. Apathetic uncaring unapologetic scripted "Alfa-Care" hotline. Beginning a lemon-law claim. Poor service experience at any price, let alone nearly $100k.

STELVIO QUADRIFOGLIO VS URUS

I have owned a Lamborghini Urus and I can tell you first hand that for the price difference of $150K the SQ is as viseral and fun to drive as the Urus and it is lighter, smaller and more nimble. It feels very similar to a Ferrari F430 when it comes to shifting and handling. The exhaust tone is just as radical as the Urus. It is a driver's car. The interior is absolutely 100% sports car especially the CF that envelopes the cabin. I am 100% satisfied!! Great value for the money!!

Coming from a GM vehicle (Tahoe) I wanted to downsize. There were alot of choices. Problem is they are almost all the same ( same looks and performance) found out Alfa Romeo was back in the US. Absolutely fell in love with the looks. Once I took it for a test drive it was a done deal. Stunning handling, excellent layed out interior and the performance was amazing. You will not be disappointed !!
