I am currently having problems with my 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis with the head lights not coming on or going out. All other light stay on. Turning the light switch on / off and it won't come on. Same symptoms in auto or manual Headlight mode. If I stop the car it will come back on. It then might go off after a while. I see others have had this same ... Read More

That may be, I have never driven a 2003 Panther. My 2004 has a noticeably stiffer ride and more handling prowess than my friend's 2002; although probably not as noticeable on the handling package cars, the presence of the Watts linkage on the rear end really helps to keep the axle in line. That's a big part of the problem on the older ones without a sway bar: no lateral support ... Read More

I have a similar problem on my 2003 Crown Vic and 2004 Mercury Monterey minivan. I feel reasonably certain it is the Goodyear tires I have on them. On both vehicles, the tires need rebalancing after about 3000 miles. Always, the balancing weight position has shifted. The LM dealer eventually decided that one of the tires on the Monterey was bad and after replacement, found a very noticeable improvement but at ... Read More

Indeed, there are some insulation differences and such, but it is hard to justify forking out the extra money just to get the Mercury name; nowadays, "Mercury" doesn't mean much. As an example, when i was shopping for my car, a dealer had a 2004 GM LS for $27.7k, all taxes in and everything (these are Canadian dollars, don't forget). I ended up getting my CV, with more options, for $24.1k, ... Read More

why Ford Motor Co seems to put the Crown Vic behind the proverbial "8 Ball"? Let me explain...my local Mercury dealer quoted me $20,831 after $4500 in rebates ($3500 on the car and $1000 when using Ford Credit) on a 2005 Grand Marquis GS Convenience Package. This car has traction control and power adjustable pedals and stickers for $26,535. My Ford dealer has a 2004 Crown Victoria LX without traction control ... Read More

Sales were down November to November, but GM sales are down 3.8% for the year. Hard to say why November sales changed so much - maybe fleet purchases in 2003 or something. 2004 YTD, the Grand Marquis still makes up 25% of the sales for the Lincoln-Mercury division, with little advertising.

You can usually find those keyless entry kits at Target or K-mart for something like $30. Installation will be DIY, and I'm not sure what that entails, although I almost did this to my '95 Thunderchicken once. As far as a redesign? Don't expect one anytime soon. The same basic platform goes back to '79, although with significant improvements over the years, especially the 2003's. Personal speculation, but I think the ... Read More

Leasealanee, I know exactly what you are hearing from your friends-- I am 26 and have loved full-size, luxo-barges since I can remember. When I was in high school, I drove a Ford truck and my father had a 1992 Grand Marquis. I enjoyed driving it so much that I convinced him to trade vehicles with me. So there I was, the only student at my high school who was driving ... Read More
