the 2004 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is a big car that is fun to drive and has pretty good power for such a big car. However this year of car has a common problem of headlight failure due to the lighting control module. If you are going to buy one of these cars make sure the headlights work! and not just intermittently. Also about a week after buying this car with 123k miles on it the shocks that hold the hood open failed and now it slowly shuts the hood down so u have to hold it up with your hands. Also when pulling the lever to open the hood it doesn't open the hood all the way and u have to pry it open with something just to unlock the latch. Make sure you inspect it good b4 buying.
My Crown Vic PI came with tinted windows all around which is a nice feature. The car is big, and therefore much safer than smaller compact cars. The seats are really comfortable in it due to the fact that it was previously owned by a police department. You also get more respect on the road due to the fact that most people think you could be an undercover cop. So it is fun to play around with. Also the CVPI is a really smooth ride and takes most bumps in the road with ease.
The 04 model of this car should of had a recall by Ford on their Lighting Control Modules, for many people listed having this problem and have had to take on the expensive cost of replacing it for $500+. Also this car gets terrible gas mileage. If you go appox 35 miles in it you will use a quarter of a tank in no time. Im not really sure what other people are talking about in saying that this car gets 30 mpg because it most definitely does not! maybe 20 mpg tops. Also if the CVPI you are considering buying was a former police car chances are the wiring in it is all messed up due to the hook up of so many extra electronics in the car from the past. So make sure you inspect everything.
