2003 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500
I remember the good old days when Chryslers had stainless steel trim and over engineered vehicles. Sadly this is no longer true. RAM diesel is very expensive... yet the steel they use to manufacture these trucks is below scrap value. It is a southern Arizona truck. God for bid you drive this in a northern state... Sorry you can wash it twice a week and it still will rust at an … exponential rate that defies logic. It is a 500,000 miles engine, a 35,000 mile transmission and a three year old body.... It rusts out in places that just have never happened in older models... Like cab mounts. Rockers are gone in no time. Warning to new buyers..... If you do not Zebart it as soon as you leave the dealer.... you will regret it. Resale trade-in value is terrible on a RAM. God forbid you tow a trailer.... but get ready to rebuild the front end. Since they do not build the Cummins engine, that is the only engine I recommend However... it is tough to recommend paying $71,000.oo for a soon to become rust bucket. I also have heard that.... 2018 will be the last year of a manual transmission. Just as well..... tow in 6th gear and that will turn your transmission into a 5 speed. They do not manufacture that transmission but it would be nice to install a brand that will hold up to the Cummins' engine. Blame the EPA for some of the issues... but building it out of scrap rusty steel is a Chrysler problem. FORDs cost more but still it takes 4.5 yrs to rust out and soot filters clog up..one unit so about a 6,000.00 dollar replacement. Oh do not forget urea ….. it freezes in cold weather.. then the truck is dead. FIAT is not Chrysler … Good Grief.!!!!!!! NO.. it does not get better. Forget FORD... unless you want to pay even more for a diesel. Their extremely expensive CATS.... cost almost over 10,000 dollars to replace and if they begin to plug... your FORD computer shuts the truck down. Keep voting for liberal democrats like your grand pappy …… and this is what truck buyers deserve. Dealers love it since the greatest return on their dealership investment is in the repair segment of the business... not sell the truck new. Sorry idiots that is the truth.. Dealers lOVE these new trucks. You vote in democrats.. you pay more.... the dealer's owners take you money. Correction ,,, the normal 2500/3500 new cost over $99,000.oo dollars.. No that is not a misprint // also they now are all DEF. that freezes in the winter and the system constantly clogs up over time and dealers must replace the entire unit $$$$$$$ .. Have to ask your self ... is it worth it..? Be nice if they increased their quality.....Naaaaaaa
