TORRANCE, California — The 2014 Honda Pilot starts at $30,500, including an $830 destination charge, reflecting a $150 price increase over the 2013 model.

The top-of-the-line 2014 Honda Pilot Touring with a navigation system and rear-entertainment system starts at $42,250, including shipping.

The Honda Pilot, a versatile vehicle with eight-passenger seating that appeals to active families, competes with the Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota 4Runner. The roomy accommodations in the Pilot include 16 different seating configurations for the 60/40 split-folding second- and third-row seats.

Towing capacity is pegged at 4,500 pounds for the four-wheel-drive version.

The Pilot is equipped with a 250-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and is available in two- and four-wheel-drive configurations.
