AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The retro 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker starts at $37,990, including a $995 destination charge, Chrysler announced on Wednesday.
The uplevel version with the hood-to-tail stripes starts at $38,490, including shipping.
Chrysler notes the base price of the Challenger R/T Shaker represents "a walk of only $2,500 from the Challenger R/T Classic." The base 2014 Dodge Challenger SXT starts at $27,290, including shipping.
The Challenger R/T Shaker is available at dealerships now.
Chrysler said car buyers are expected to quickly snap up the special model. Dodge dealers ordered the entire production run for the vehicle in just four days.
Dodge received 2,000 dealer orders from January 7 through January 10 after orders were opened.
"Based on this strong initial demand, it's clear that our customers are excited about the return of the legendary Shaker model," said Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of the Dodge Brand, in a statement.
The car calls to mind the original 1970 Challenger R/T with the Shaker hood.
Details on the new version include the Shaker hood and a functional exposed-element cold-air intake system.
The Challenger R/T Shaker features the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine linked to a standard Tremec six-speed manual transmission.
The cabin includes a three-spoke flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel, an aluminum pistol-grip shifter and Shaker logos.
