One Bad Hombre
This is the SUV for folks who hate SUV's. More like a station wagon on steroids. The most well thought-out car in years, every detail considered down the center arm rest which fold back to hold a sandwhich for the driver. The brakes a smooth as butter, better than my A6, the engine shifts smoother than any car I have ever owned and the only negative I can find is reduced visibility over the left shoulder due to the reinforced pillar which was a trade off for increased roof strength which I would trade anyway. The only car that comes close in price is the Touareg and the rear seat in that is claustrophic.

XTC90 and Still in XTC
Late 2003, My wife called me from the dealership where she was waiting service on my 97 850. It went something like this: "You gotta come see this car in the showroom. Not sure what it is but it's BEAUTIFUL!" Arranged an up-close and test drive with my long-time salesman then quickly got to the contract for our Crystal Green Metallic T5. When he quoted MSRP and I winced, my salesman said "the only way you'll get a 'deal' is to go get it yourself." Next stop, Goteborg, factory tour, delivery, a delightful two-week driving adventure in Scandinavia and return shipment home. Fast forward 16 years and my wife still thinks it's BEAUTIFUL! All maintenance has been done by the dealer. Only fairly minor problems have come up and all taken care of by the dealer. Trying to be realistic so keeping an eye on the new XC90 options -- to include yet another overseas delivery!

xc90 still a good bet after 2 yr
This is my first Volvo and it has not disappointed. It was purchased for overall safety reasons, and it has been very reliable in the 2 years that I have had it. It is a pleasure to drive. The only problem with performance is the get up and go. It is a little sluggish. The vehicle doesn't get too bad gas mileage. I have been getting 19 mpg in the city and 22-23 on the highway.
Best in class
Exceeded my expectations. Fun to drive and performs well in bad weather. Pulls the PWCs out of water without slipping on the ramp. Center section of rear seat folds to keep two kids separated and provides a place to set the Playstation 2 for playing games and watching DVDs. Also a great place to put the water skis. Fold flat 3rd row seats provide ample storage space for dog cage and luggage.
