What happened?

I have driven Volvos for years. I got a 2020 XC 60 T6 R Design and have been pretty disappointed. The brakes have squeaked since day 1 and the Apple Car Play intermittently stops working. The dealership hasn’t been able to fix either problem. My last Volvo was a V60 CC which was awesome. I think when this lease is up I may become an Audi owner.

Pretty look but dangerous on the Road

2020 Volvo XC60 T8 Inscription Twin Engine Plug-In Hybrid 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Twincharger gas/electric plug-in hybrid 8A)

This T8 duel engine has a lot of problems. Engine light goes on and off with no reason. Sometimes, signs say engine fail but the problem can’t be recreated in service. Died in the middle of the road twice already since it’s landed. 110volt Charge overnight gives you 30km to run. After that, the gas engine runs and trying to recharge the battery. And that’s when the problem happens. It becomes very noisy and the wheel shakes a little. First time, it died in the middle of the traffic light for about 15mins. The second time , it died when it was driven off the highway and made a turn. The battery had a funny high pitch noice , and the back seat became very hot and smelled. Different problem will happen if you don’t charge the battery for a couple of days. You just don’t know what and when, And the service people have no clue .

THE GOOD AND THE BAD

Jeff, 04/03/2022
2019 Volvo XC60 T5 Momentum 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 8A)

THE GOOD: it’s a comfortable drive on the freeway. Fusion red, the car looks great. Seats comfortable. Decent sound system THE BAD: Slow as molasses, terrible lag when pressing gas. Infotainment system simply sucks. Incredibly slow and not user friendly at all. Harsh on bumps. Gas mileage isn’t as good as advertised. Averaged 23 mpg. Expected 25-26. While looking new and modern, but the guts of the electronics and engine felt outdated and clunky Reselling was impossible. Had it 3k below book for 2 months and got nothing. Car was perfect. Ended up trading in for a Mercedes at a loss. Honestly I wouldn’t recommend this car.

So Far, I Am Pleased

I purchased this vehicle about a month ago. So far, I am pleased with it. Two things positively surprise me. First, the vehicle has a very smooth ride. Secondly, I can easily maneuver the car into parking sots, between cars very easily given that it is much physically larger than my previous sedan. I am about to take my first road trip, so I am anxious to see how it will perform. My only criticism, and I suppose it applies to most newer cars, is about the pervasive electronics. It is very overwhelming. I have often said my next vehicle will be from the 1960s or 1970s - a vehicle that I can work on and has virtually no electronics.

I am so pleasantly surprised at the luxury of this car. I looked at several luxury SUVs ant this one won by far.
