Used 2001 Volvo V70 Consumer Reviews
Volvo-not-all-its-crack-up-to-be
Bought this car new for my wife, she now says after 2 years she going to keep it. The door handles are ugly with fake wood with black coming. It drips oil on my garage floor also leaks transmission fluid. Driver's seat wouldn't move that was fun!!! Window on the passenger side would sometimes does not roll-up. We have replaced all the bulbs in the car at least once! Now a $34 turn signal on the side needs replacing. Now it has the brake light come on - dealer can't fix it. We have about 28k miles on it and was hoping to keep it for 10 years like all people who drive Volvo's say they should last.
No regrets!
We purchased this car used. It had 6K miles on it, and had been used as a rental. We bought it at significant savings, and because it had been used for part of the year, we were able to get the "extended warranty" for certified used cars. We have never had to invoke any warranty repair. The car has performed beautifully. The mileage is impressive for such a large car. Plenty of pick up to be had without the Turbo. Having previously driven a compact car, I can tell you I had no trouble adjusting to this one. It is easy to maneuver.

Great Family Car
Wouldn't recommend this non-turbo version. It is underpowered if you do a lot of travelling. Good city/short mileage car. Solid, no problems. Most room for a wagon you'll find.
Reliability Issues
Love the car when it runs - speaker replacement, two headlights replaced, and transmission replaced all within first 28,000 miles. Just looked into trading this in and the depreciation is horrible - car is worth $19500 after 3 years. Buy it if you have a dealership close by. This is our 7th but last Volvo.
Quirky transmission
We have owned the vehicle for about 10 months (15k miles)and the only money we spent was on front end work which is typical for this car for 100k. Every once in a while when we step on the gas pedal the RPMS jump from about 2000 to 4-5000 (30-40mph). We have the latest software updates and the Volvo mechanic could not find anything wrong. Does anybody have this problem and what did you find out about it? Overall, a good vehicle. Thanks.
