Were Do I Start?
I am 59 years old and I have owned about 8-10 volvos during my life. Most recently I purchased a used off of a lease v-70 T-5 with 47000 miles on it. It had a full service till 100K. If it did not have that I would have gone broke. Here is a list. 2 radiators, one ac unit, one transmission, numerous electrical problems, 2 replaced sunroofs. Most recently I have to stuff rags and paper into the sunroof area to keep the sunroof from rattling. Numerous rattles in the car, rough ride and the list goes on. My previous car was an acura which give up the ghost at 225,000 miles. This volvo is a piece of junk. I would stay away like a bad cold. Never again. Then I found out that most of the

I bought my T5 from a woman that ordered her car and picked it up in sweden. when she returned to the states she decided to sell her car. My volvo is a 5 speed manual trans. It is so fun to drive! No real mechanical problems, a turbo boost sensor went out, but replaced under warranty. Just returned from a 1200 mile road trip to Yosemite. I loved driving through the mountains. I can't wait to test drive a new AWD T5. The 2001 stereo is lacking, radio signal pick-up is moderate at best & I had to have the CD changer replaced twice (warranty). San Diego Volvo is very good to deal with.

Great looks+highway comfort/performanc
Wife traded a minivan for this and loves it. This car has 2 personalities >= 70mph on highway is awsome. Comfortable, good power + mileage (28-29) City driving is sluggish and poor mileage (17-19). Lack low end torque so the car lacks pickup. Manual shifting stick or autostick allows the driver to correct of mismatched auto shift + RPM torque setting. Poor turing radius. For our style of driving, we'll go with the 2.5T next time. Reliability has been ok. Both headlight + various position/brake lights burned out once. The bulbs are cheap and very easy to replace. Front light lens assembly is a single unit (glass) and cost $300 for parts when chipped. Get ipd's plastic lens protector.
I prefer my 240
We've been a Volvo family for several years, and when we saw the new body style, we knew we had to have one. It's a beautiful car, but the reliability of the newer Volvos leaves a lot to be desired. We've had transmission problems from almost day one. It's a certified car, so that was our only saving grace. We had to have several software upgrades for the transmission, and the last time it was in, I was told that if this didn't "fix" the problem, I would be the proud owner of a new transmission on a vehicle with 65,000 miles on it. My independent mechanic told me to avoid all Volvo's newer than 99 until they work out the bugs. I'll stick with my 240.
European Disappointment
Expected Volvo lifetime, got Ford reliability. Well known transmission problem as listed on web, tailgate lift springs both shot, replaced top torque motormount after I could see daylight thru it, all rubber bushings in the suspension replaced after 85000 miles. Might be sophisticated European engineering, but LOUSY execution and parts quality. I will probably take the seats out and use them to watch TV in in my living room, and scrap the car. STAY away from this pile of junk.
