May need to buy another
My wife and I are used car buyers. Our 2001 XC70 w/ 28K looks and feels like a new car. Gotta love the looks of the XC70. I do not think of it as a station wagon, more a serious sports wagon. Rides like it is on rails. Car seems to like high speeds. Replaced original Pirelli's with Michelin's to reduce road noise. Car is now a whisper on the highway. Bought extended warranty which took care of some issues with suspension linkages. Service at Keystone Volvo is gold standard.
What Happened to Volvo quality?
4th Volvo, nothing but problems with major systems on this one. Exorbitant repair costs. They want to replace catalytic converter, A/C, transmission, seat belt, clogged filter to the tune of $10,000. My Ford Taurus lasted much longer for 1/3 the purchase price. Last Volvo for me.

WINNS CAR
3 YRS OLD AND LOTS OF STUFF HAS BEEN FIXED. THE REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCKS,THE POWER DRIVERS SEAT, THE PASSENGER SEAT IS A PAIN TO ADJUST, NEW FRONT STRUT, NEW RADIO & SPEAKERS, NEW CUP HOLDERS. WE HAVE TAKEN EXC. CARE OF THIS VEHICLE. THE ONLY STRONG POINT IS INTERSTATE DRIVING. THE QUALITY AND INTERIOR DESIGN IS POOR AND MY WIFE IS READY TO SELL. WE WILL NOT PURCHASE ANY MORE VOLVOS.
Love Hate Tolerate
Beautiful car, quality interior materials and exterior fit and finish. Outstanding fuel economy and extended range comfort and utility. Difficult radio set up, bulky A- pillars and out of place cheap plastic touches. The ride is detached for cars in this price range, light bulbs blow more often than you need fuel. The tranny went at 30K forcing an extended warranty purchase. Local Volvo dealer provides exceptional service at a price you would expect with this class of car. The car is far too noisey for this class. With 100k just around the corner a new Volvo is not out of the question although better cars in this price range exist.
Problem free
Best car I've ever owned. Superb for long trips. The only problem I have had is that the radio won't keep its settings. Others complain about headlight life, but mine were upgraded as part of a recall and have been trouble free. The interior has held up very well and people still complement the exterior styling. Obtain 22 mpg in mixed driving, 26+ on the highway. Replaced tires at 43,000 miles.
