Used 1990 Volvo 240 Consumer Reviews
1986 brickster!
My wife bought this volvo at 4 years of age and 40k... it now (2003) has 142k and is only driven 5000 miles/year. I don't worry about it at all and it costs me next to nothing to service and maintain... maybe $600/year at Say Ray's in Palo Alto. Im looking now to buy a 1994 940, the last of the great ones....but I think Volvo has gone down the tubes now that GM has put its greedy hands around volvos throat. Wouldnt buy anything newer than 1996. Swedes, please buy Volvo car back!
LOVE
This is my first car and I absolutely love it. It is extremely safe and i feel like i am driving a tank, in a good way. No parking space is off limit and no matter how bad i park i still fit in the space.

I love this car (olga)
No problems, have just put on new brakes regular oil changes (3000 miles) had radiator flushed it overheated here in summer right after purchased, then no more problems. also just replaced both brake light housings one cracked but even with numerous trips to Disneyland and over 100 degree heat this car hasnt failed us once......I drove by it at a wholesale lot on the way to work....These cars are precious in the bay area
My 89 240DL
I would have never thought I'd be happy with a 20 year old car with 222K +. Believe it or not it's a fun car to drive. My roommate who has a 2006 Nissan Murano is always wanting to borrow my car. LOL! Mine has had 3 prior owners who must have pampered her. Except for the crack in the dashboard and slight fading on some of the plastic it looks brand new. Seriously. She runs great so far. I call her "Babe, The Blue Box". This has to be the best $1200 I've ever spent.
Quarter Million Miles
My Volvo is a 1985, and it looks better than some eight years older. As of my writing, the odometer reads 250,026. The only maintenance has been a new radiator (common due to the plastic factory radiator), master cylinder, and AC conversion last summer, also throw in a couple of brake shoes and batteries. If this one lasts me 50,000 more miles, I think I will have gotten my money's worth.
