Used 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 4dr Sedan Consumer Reviews
Hitler Revenge
Do you like to Visit the Mechanic and spend lots of $$ for repairs, then I have the car for you. I couldn't pass it's first Emmissions Test, due to some electronic failure. The water temp gauge broke--another bad sensor. The the check Engine light comes on twice in 5000 miles. EAch time requiring a $90 diagnostic.
nightmare in the form of a car
This car is very unreliable. It's one bad thing after another. First, maintenance. Once one thing falls off, something else will, like an endless cycle. (i.e. plastic paneling, glove box handle, cup holder, and even door cover). then, the light indicators on my dashboard always pop up. like for the airbags, brake switch, and even the wind shield fluid. The epc light comes on constantly, and locks the car in park for hours, even days. It gets really really bad gas mileage. You can only drive about 200 miles until you need to fill up again. I think this car was put together with Elmer's glue and chewing gum. not even sturdy enough to consider super glue. Don't waste your money and life.

not good at all
I have had this car for two and a half years and i have had no good days with it. The check engine light wont go off. The brakes keep squeaking, even though they have been changed twice, the oil light comes on only 1000 miles after its been changed, and the transmission is slipping bad. I always have problems with this car, and all i hear from people is that it was a mistake to buy. The radio is really poor, not loud at all. The six cd changer will never work. The electrical mechanics are bad, nothing works right. Very expensive to fix, would not recommend buying.
Don't make this mistake!!
This car seems like a great value at first. On paper it has very good stats. It feels good in the test drive, looks good in the showroom.... Don't be fooled! If you buy this piece of junk you will regret it. Trust me. The build quality and reliability are terrible. At 5,000 miles 2nd gear started grinding. The catalytic converter had to be replaced. O2 sensor too. Now the distributor is gone. Add to that full brake replacement at 35,000 miles, and a myriad of other small problems (heated seats, sensors, etc.). Don't be fooled by this car's initial impression. Underneath, it's junk. I will never ever buy a Volkswagen again!!!
Fun and unreliable
The list of my problems began with electrical failure in dash lights. Replaced pigtail harness. Next, the infamous window dropping problem. All this with 9000 miles on it. Next at about 30,000 miles, new rear brakes and rotors. I was told that everytime I replace brake pads to be prepared to change the rotors..BS. 38,000 miles, new front pads and rotors. Not to mention the cost of scheduled service. My dealer quoted me $850 for my 40,000 scheduled maintenance. What a joke. Next the O2 sensor went and needed replacement. Went from VW enthusiast to the point where I will never buy another.
