I got a Lemon

I had my 2021 Cross Sport SE Premium 14 months before I traded it in. I love the Cross Sport, I miss it, but I think my particular vehicle was a lemon not necessarily all Cross Sports. I love driving it. It was comfortable, and I personally think it is the most gorgeous car on the road, but the issues... The first issue I had was the strut rattle. When I took it to the dealership, they said they couldn't find anything wrong. I persisted with another visit and they had to replace a part of the strut, which fixed the rattle. The second issue I had was with the crash avoidance system. The first time it engaged was not a situation as I was far enough back that I could have avoided the collision, but it engaged and almost killed the motorcycle cop behind me. One thing is for sure, this system defies the laws of physics! I turned the collision avoidance system off so it would not do that again. With the system off. It engaged twice in a 1 week period and immediately after the 2nd incidence the brakes were making a grinding noise. Before I could get it to the shop, the car turned itself completely off at a red light with the error that the door was open. It took opening and shutting the doors several times to get to where I could get the car in park to get it started again. Fortunately I had the oil changed with full point inspection to prove that I had not been riding the brakes. The service department refused to believe the anti collision system could cause the damage to the rotors and I had to fight to get VW to pay for replacing them. The only thing that saved me from having to pay for the replacement is that inspection 2 weeks prior. The electrical issue was a sensor. I had to take it back to the shop a few months later because I was still having issues with the door sensor. This last time, time number 4, was the same door sensor issue. Along with the door sensor replacement, the wiring harness in the door had to be replaces, which they now think was the issue causing the sensor to continue to fail. 4 times was enough for me to get out while the getting was good. I do think the issues I was having was that particular car and I would have gotten another Cross Sport had they had the same or step up from mine but they didn't. Oh, there is also the horrible gas mileage, but it's a V6 so I expected that.

Dont expect everything to work

I traded in my 2020 Silverado for the Cross Sport because it seemed like a nice vehicle and 5K lb towing capacity is standard (no extra package needed). The car drives will and has some nice features like digital cockpit, infotainment, wireless charging etc; and it does tow my 3,500 lb boat nicely. But, its a very frustrating vehicle.... three days after I picked it up the infotainment system went dark. So many things are operated through that system, its a big deal. The dealer service team was no help (they are really bad) but I did my own research and found out how to do a soft reset; that worked. Then, a week later (that car is now two weeks old) as I am pulling out of my driveway memorial day weekend, 5:30 am for a 350 mile holiday weekend, the engine lite comes on. the Manual says not to drive it but I am not canceling my vacation because of this brand new car so I departed. three days later the light went out on its own and has not come back on. Again the dealer is no help. they want to keep the car for a week, with no courtesy vehicle, just to see if there is an error code; unbelievable. I contacted VW, they are less help than the dealer. some of the safety features dont work at they should, again, very frustrating... So, its a nice car but I have zero confidence in it. When its working, its a nice car. Proceed with caution if you are thinking of buying one. Or Buy two if you need reliable transportation.

Update: it’s still not a Sports Car!

UPDATE: it’s been a year and I still love this car for its roominess and spunky attitude. Now the dirty: it was annoying to learn of the wire harness recall of which my vehicle did not appear to have those issues after inspection and dealer fix (primarily due to the climate we live in). And another recall for yet another issue, that didn’t seem as urgent as the first. So, I’m waiting for a push or my next service appointment. 2nd the only thing that is really annoying is the infotainment system. The User Interface is not as mature as one would expect. In fact, there are far more intelligent systems out there. After 10 mos of ownership, the apple play bt would get confused and bounce pack and forth from the car to my AirPods (if they were not in the case). Or general radio/media controls would simply freeze up and I’d need to restart the entire vehicle. Strange little things. Or the BT would play in stereo one moment and simply switch to mono a few yards later and switch back. These are small annoying instances experienced in the last two months - simply annoying things that happen from time to time. But overall not a deal breaker. First, knowing this is NOT a Sports Car, it never claimed it was. I had no expectations for quick pick-up. But it does respond when it counts!! It drives as it should, a utility vehicle with sporty/stylish lines. I've read all many reviews claiming the disappointment in acceleration. And honestly, most suv's I've driven NEVER drove like sports cars. They are far too heavy and cumbersome to do so. It does have enough pick up where it matters. Now, to the part I love - its roomy!! There is space for everything!! Carseats, strollers, and trips to Costco. AND ALL WHEEL DRIVE!! We didn't go with the special badging option, that was to frivolous. We could see where folks might have issues with the technology - frankly we figured it out quickly and it's actually very advanced for normal consumers. We're impressed - So far, so good, we're grandparents who refuse to drive a minivan! UPDATE: from my first review - we still love the car!! Despite the recall for the door harness that seems to effect those in “wetter” climates. We live in a dryer climate, and are less likely to have the issues in the recall, so we wait for a fix. Despite all of that - the car still is a favorite of ours. Spacious and Stylish, it can and does turn heads of the Audi Q8 owners. It reminds us of the less techie version without the high end finishes. And we’re actually ok with that.

Mixed feelings

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport SEL R-Line 4dr SUV (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
28 of 28 people found this review helpful

I just bout an r-line Volkswagen cross sport atlas v6 with front wheel drive. I test drove both the 4 motion and front wheel drive but honestly for the large price increase I couldn’t justify the large price increase especially with the extra mark ups Volkswagen has added on top of the window sticker price tag due to the chip shortage. I ended up paying an extra 2400.00 on top of the 43,000 window sticker tag price which I think is ludicrous. The color combination and looks of the interior of my vehicle are very unique and beautiful. The exterior is very Audi inspired. The cabin is the largest suv that I’ve ever sat foot into including the front seats , rear seats and especially the large trunk. People who are 6’5 and taller will have no problems at all with leg room when compared to any other suv on the market. If you need a large trunk for luggage the cross sport is very large in fact I cannot fully reach all of the trunk even at 6 feet tall. Some negatives are why make such a sporty vehicle design with such a horrible sluggish v6 engine. I test drove the v6 with 4 motion and the acceleration was even worse from a dead stop. My prior vehicle was a grand Cherokee v8 and a 2016 Kia cardenza v6 both which much stronger acceleration. The acceleration does greatly improve in sport mode at least which is the only way I drive this vehicle daily. The other biggest negative that I have is the horrible sound system for a 43,000 suv. It has no bass and the volume even at the max setting doesn’t compare at all to the Kia product or jeep products. The sound even on my r-line upgraded model was so bad that I literally just added an after market subwoofer with all new door speakers and amplifier. So for me to spend an additional $1,000.00 should help you to understand just how horrible the system is especially if you listen to rap music or heavy metal music or r&b. The ride in the vehicle is great especially considering that the vehicle doesn’t come with air suspension. The seats are very large and provide great comfort for all sizes including larger frame occupants. The entertainment console particular the wireless apple car play and wireless phone charging is a positive game changer. It’s so nice to have all the features mirroring from your phone to the vehicle without the clutter of phone cords. Believe me once you experience the wireless apple CarPlay you will never ever go back to the old cord method. The panoramic large sunroof is large and to my surprise is tinted to provide the right mix of sunlight into the cabin. One thing you will notice immediately is just how quiet this vehicle is. I have gotten out of the vehicle a few times and forgot that the vehicle was still running , thankfully the dashboard alerted me to turn off the ignition. Overall this is a lot that you get for the money regardless of whether you get the 7 seater atlas or the 5 seater cross sport atlas. I reviewed several vehicles from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mazda CX-9, Toyota Highlander , Toyota 4 runner , Kia telluride and non had the upscale looks and fee as the vw cross sport. I added the 5 year 150,000 bumper to bumper extended warranty since I drive around 30,000 miles a year just in case I run into any mechanical issues down the road. My prior vehicle was a 2018 jeep v8 grand Cherokee summit which was a wonderful vehicle even at 70,000 miles. So just to recap the highlights are great Audi inspired exterior views, great ride, largest in my opinion deep trunk space, most leg room in all rows vs anything priced under $60,000.00, great technology and safety features. The negatives are very sluggish v6 engine, and the worse sound system I’ve ever heard in my 23 years of driving. Even my old Buick’s from the 90s Honestly sounded better this.

I purchased this vehicle in November 2020 and I am very happy with my decision. I have the 2.0T AWD engine which drives very smooth and has enough power for driving around town. Great SUV for big and tall people or anyone would prefer a spacious cabin.

I got the top of the line model and I love it. The driving experience is luxurious and similar to Audi (which I normally buy/lease). The design of the car is very thoughtful and while the car is big, it drives small and relatively quick, note I do own the 3.6 V6 and didn’t test drive the smaller engine. The other car in the house is an Audi Q5 and I always choose to drive the VW Atlas cross sport. I would agree with the other reviews that the fuel consumption is relatively inefficient but I don’t drive much so it mattered less to me. I would truly recommend anyone to take this beauty for a spin.

I purchased my 2021 ATLAS Cross Sport V6 in Sept 2021. So far the car has cut off while waiting in line at a red light and the eco was off ! Took it to dealership 2 times , they couldnt find anything wrong. They asked me did I have my door open . I said no. They said I forgot to turn off the eco , but I didnt, and I told them even if I did, the car would not just completely turn off and show a message on the console that I needed to manually restart. Their answer for this issue was to video it happening! That's safe, play with camera while driving.! Then I reported that the crash alert would randomly turn on for no reason,, they said that the sensors were very sensitive and red lights could be causing this. Next , I entered my car at night and the auto lights was turned on like it had been since I bought it , but when I started the car, my dash was completely black , and the only thing that lit up was the red indicators lines for the fuel, temp etc.. I finally had to turn the lights from auto to on, and everything lit up. The next day , I turned my lights back to auto and that night everything worked fine. My emergency brake will randomly turn on as well. Brakes sound like they are grinding sometimes, and when I accelerate from a stop light, stop sign etc.. the car will act like it doesnt want to switch gears, it sort of lurches. I decided to write this review because today, I did forget to turn my eco off and when I approached a red light , the car never stopped running like its supposed to . I did go ahead and start my phones video to catch it doing this. And to top it off, winter is coming soon and the dealer said my floor mats are still on back order! I love the way this car looks but I hate that I cant enjoy driving it!

First this is the Off Road mode is great and augments the other adjustable AWD drive modes. The acceleration is just as good as most of its competitor's with one exception...It uses REGULARE GAS to achieve Real world MPG ! The exterior is very sporty even though the VW group has 3 other versions like the Q8, the Porsche and the Uris Lamborghini. Same shape but less luxurious and a lot less money. I have the SE Tec with the 6 cylinder and 4 motion. This is not a small vehicle, it's the same size as 2021 MDX and just about a second slower with 5000lbs towing capacity. Pretty good for a vehicle that runs on REGULAR GAS!

This car has caused me nothing but issues. I’ve had the car for 1 month and a half. It’s been in the shop for nearly 4 weeks. I’ve had nothing but major issues. Car stalling out, push to start not working, car automatically being put into neutral while sitting at a light and car hard shifting when I get off the gas. Seems like that was a transmission. They’ve ordered parts etc. I WILL NEVER BUY VOLKSWAGEN AGAIN.

Although this vehicle is sharp in looks it sucks! Parking brake, lane assist, and park assist came on. Alert that my car is running came on - of course it's on as I'm driving. Windows rolled down by themselves. Doors would unlock except for the drivers side which meant I had to climb in from passenger side. Doors would not lock/unlock at times from the touch sensor. Collision alert came on with no need as nothing was in front of me. As stated before of windows coming down by themselves they then wouldn't even go down when I needed to. Radio would not turn up. We unfortunately bought this and it will be the LAST VW we will buy.

I’ve been a Honda owner/lover for decades. Wanted an SUV and was considering the Passport but wasn’t feeling the look of. Saw the Cross Sport and loved it… It’s one of the hottest-looking SUVs I’ve seen. A friend who had a Passat told me great car but expensive to fix… classic German over-engineering. Had a BMW that ran me $3K/yr in repairs. Anyway, decided to lease Cross Sport for term of coverage (33 months) - this would make sure any issues were covered by VW. Outta the gate, little issues - foot sensor on rear hatch never worked correct (VW dealer concedes it’s an issue but no solution). Then the air bag sensor - twice to dealer to have “fixed” (bandaid). Both times sensor came back in as soon as I left dealer. NOW there’s an official recall but the parts are not available from VW yet. Infotainment system: Function buttons work/don’t work. Dash/interior lighting works/doesn’t work. Intermittent electronic issues are a [non-permissible content removed] to diagnose/fix so I have to live with the inconvenience of repeatedly taking to dealer (40 mi RT) w/ issues never being resolved… AND they do not offer rentals while yours is in shop (unlike Honda) so I can’t leave with for thorough inspection b/c I need car to get to work. The car is gorgeous - roomy, cool, stylish and plush inside but the aggregation is over-the-top. I have the V6 and the gas mileages sucks but I anticipated that. Can’t wait until lease ends so I can find another car! SADLY, I CANNOT RECOMMEND. SERIOUSLY CONSIDER SOMETHING OTHER THAN A VW. Dealer service not good, Manufacture’s support non existent! Poor service, poor support, spotty (poor) quality.

I bought this car with full confidence that I would completely love it. Since getting it in early December, my brand new car has been in the shop for over a month for the engine light already being on and a fuel sensor issue. I receive it back and two days later it happens again. Less than a week later my car is once again having issues and the key will not connect or let me auto lock it from the outside. They replaces the key battery and that was not the issue. Another system failure. Corporate has been beyond helpful but I feel like I made a massive mistake buying this car. Will go back to the dealer tomorrow to get fixed once again. I had better luck with my Jeep Wrangler.. and who says that!

I ordered a ACS, after test driving one and loving it. However when mine came in, I immediately noticed some fit and finish issues. I also noticed it drove different than what I test drove. A piece on the center console is not installed properly and it’s been to the service department 3 times due to vibrations and shaking in the steering wheel. Unfortunately it seems the vehicles VW makes in TN have quality control issues. Some are great and some not so much. Trading it back in after 2K miles.

Gave it two stars because it’s a beautiful looking vehicle. I was so inspired by the style let’s look and the upgrades that I got in my Atlas Cross Sport Premium. I drove six hours north just to get it because there wasn’t any in the state. I was so excited to find one and bring it home. Within one week my audio stopped working. Tried all different combinations with wireless and USB connection and such. Connected to the Apple play I could get my messages and phone calls but couldn’t play my music. Brought it into service they couldn’t figure out what was wrong they try to do a hard reset and reset up my phone. System works for about one day and then I have no music. I did the upgrade in the premium package For the Fender sound system and the hands-free with the Apple Pay feature. So it’s been 60 days since I’ve had the car and it’s been in service twice. I have an appointment for the second time for them to look at the audio. The day before I was supposed to go in I was driving on interstate 95 my EPC light came on. Turned out to be a fuel injector failure. So I was able to limp into the dealership north of me. They had the car for five days. But the main reason prior to that was for the audio issues. They never addressed it on the service report. They said they didn’t know what was wrong. And blamed it on my phone. I see on the forms all over the place that people are having trouble with the audio not having volume. Now if I try to trade and I will take a $10,000 hit. I’ve been in contact with corporate and they’re trying to work with me. I don’t know what it’s going to be outcome. I have had two technicians at two different Dealerships tell me that the Atlas has chronic issues ever since the design of 2018. After having such a bad experience in the last 60 days and the research I have done since, I would’ve never purchased this car. I wish I could get rid of it and get something different. It’s useless to me if I can’t play my music. It doesn’t work wirelessly or with USB. It is truly a shame.

Purchased in May 2020 and it’s needed a new steering rack, new sway bar links, new AC Schrader valves, 3 air bag modules and a new transmission after two separate leaks all in under 10,000 miles. Other owners have reported very similar issues. Look elsewhere as there are much more reliable vehicles at this price point.

Best ride and looks in the segment. Don’t buy

Excellent ride, best in segment under 50k. I would not suggest buying, owning this out of warranty seems like a nightmare. I have already had the following done in warranty: Replaced entire passenger side mirror housing because it was coming undone Replaced component of the start stop system because it was turning the car back on with my foot on the break at a stop. I have also noticed that engine shuts off when I go from R to D quickly. It will be a sad day to sell my sexy Beast but I don’t think owning it out of warranty is not a good idea. I’m at 20k miles and I actually drove it across country coast to coast with no problem. Bucket seats are where it’s at and are on par with full size truck seats. Width is almost as wide as full size truck segment. Quiet and composed ride. No body roll, great on corners and feels very safe. Rides better with nitrogen in the tires. V6 engine is plenty fine for me but I also don’t tow. Nice experience but also my last VW because of the lack of quality and long term reliability. Also these depreciate like a rock.

Great look and nice ride but poor reliability

Bought a 2022 cross sport v6 Sel r line July 2022. By August noticed the start stop system was not functioning properly, it would start back up at a light with my foot firmly on the break after 4 seconds flat like clock work. This is not the way any start stop system is designed to work. Took it to dealer multiple times and got impatient and traded in for a 2023 cross sport r line sel. Jokes on me cause this new one also has issues (decides to shut the engine off when I aggressively go from D to R or shut off when I was creeping over a speed bump at about 1mph cause it couldn’t figure out whether to engage start stop. I really love the look and drive of the car but I do not trust it. I will enjoy the atlas until I sell it and then will never buy another vw product again. The reliability is such a joke. Also, my 2011 Camry had a better stock sound system than the Atlas. However, to some the look, drive and energy of this car will be worth the headache and in many ways it is cause it really does drive well and is smooth and is a sexy car. However that comes at a cost, under warranty right now but paying with my time and stress levels that something will break. I cannot in good faith recommend this car to anyone who is looking for reliability or dependability. If you’re good w the pay to play model and want the German drive feel then it’s a great car. If you want something to rely on stay far far away! I’ve had 2 now. On a side note regarding the driving character it dominates the road with a wide body ride, is an absolute legend in south Florida downpour rain, feel very safe.

I will skip the "admiration" part of the vehicle description. We bought our vehicle brand new from the dealership in Canada. It had no issues and ran smoothly first 5,000 km. It's almost 8,000km on the odometer at the moment. For this period of time we've had issues with media system (the system switches to mute voluntarily while driving and turns back to normal only after reset), rattling plastic part over the driver's head (seriously? this is a CAN80K car), defect brakes, malfunctioning outside sensors, squeaking outside mirror... Every time the dealer requests to "replicate" the issue referring to the VW requirements. I've already spent hours working from the dealership waiting room. Hopefully they will improve in the future.

Excellent handling and very comfortable. The 4 cylinder turbo is great but use premium fuel for much better performance. Great styling and huge amount of room. No problems after 1:year..Love it! After over two years, I am still very happy with this vehicle. Reliability has been excellent with only a software update needed. Excellent amount of room for an older person with mobility issues.

I brought the Cross Sport simply because at 6’8 tall there were no other two row SUV’s I could fit in. The car rides nice and has adequate power for a turbo 4. I love all the technology and it’s pretty easy to learn how everything works. My only complaint is the radio. I think VW should’ve made the Fender audio an option. I love my music and the radio is below average. Other than that I’d highly recommend this car.

I brought got this car back in April 2021 and my first issue is that the collision feature engaged when it was nothing in front of me and thank goodness not in back of me either because it stopped abruptly. The car has shut down on me at a red light. The final straw for me to bring the car in for service is when the car windows were coming down by itself and you could not bring them back up. Plus this really loud beeping sound was going off every time I was at a complete stop. The driver contact switch indicator light and the electronic parking brake sensor kept coming on. I honestly did not feel safe in the vehicle. The sales department was amazing but the servicing department sucks. I mean sucks sucks. I have yet to receive a initiated phone call from them not one. Its amazing when I wanted to purchase the vehicle I could not get them to stop calling me or emailing me now its crickets when I need service. That alone confirmed why I would never buy Volkswagen again. I took it in on October 1st and it is now November 2nd and still my car is not ready because of some part is not in yet. The loaner car they gave me the Tiguan sucks too! Feels like a toy. It cut off on me too and whatever sensor they have on the car I can't change lanes gracefully without feeling some type of resistance. Its some feature they have to make sure you stay with in the traffic lines.

R Line Black v6 4 Motion

Previous VW was V6 Touareg. Was T boned and totalled so looked for VW replacement, but TREG no longer sold in USA. Went for 2023 2 row R-Line V6 with tiptronic, same engine and gear shifter as TREG . Did not want push button gear shift sold in the 2024. Benefit.. it runs on regular not premium like the TREG did, so much cheaper to drive. Completed a 2800 mile round trip down to tip of Florida and back to IL and three months later completed a 4800 mile round trip out to Vancouver and back. Averaged 26 mpg on both. Roomy interior, comfortable ride, lots of space for passengers and cargo. No issues with electrical system as described for earlier versions, especially the 2021 reviews. Note with tiptronic, this VW drove exceptionally well on high mountain roads... dropped out of auto and into hand shifting for climbing and decents... used engine braking downhill instead of ruining my brake shoes. Headlights were fine for night driving. Safety features all worked fine. I am still under 20k miles on this Cross Sport, so its early days in car's life but thus far it has performed very well. Not as sporty as the TREG nor does it have equivalent off road capability, but for how i drive now, its a fine road car... long wheelbase, good ride, nice suspension. Hope it continues to do well. Gets lots of comments as people like its looks and color - a candy apple red. Only comlaint, it is so wide i had to get a new garage door to get in... i had measured the door opening and had VW's dimensions, but those did not include the stalks of the folded mirrors which gave me about 2" clearance per side... ok to get in, not so hot to back out !!!! No idea it was that much bigger than my TREG. Conclusion : its a very solid VW and i would buy it again based on performance thus far.

I just rented a 2022 Cross Sport and drove it 2000 miles to Tennessee and back to NY. This vehicle handles like it's on rails in rain or shine. I disagree with Edmunds' assessment that it runs out of steam at high speeds. It goes like a striped ape at high speed and feels like it could do so all day long. I do agree that it does not have the best acceleration from a dead stop. On my trip, I got over 30 mpg average for the whole trip. If I had the money and I was in the market for a new vehicle, I would buy this one. I give it 4 1/2 stars.

4.5 Star Rating….But I do love it

From the moment I first saw the Cross Sport, I loved the look. It’s close cousin is the Audi Q8, which I would take in a heartbeat, but for 80K? No thanks. I bought my 2021 SEL R-Line when it was 3 months old and already traded in. Only had 7K miles and literally spotless. I had done my homework and knew about the lackluster acceleration, gas mileage and the sub-optimal sound system. But that’s only part of the story. The 3.6L engine is powerful enough to tow 5000 pounds with ease. I have towed 2 cars on trips greater than 500 miles and nearly forgot they were back there. I have also taken long trips and and averaged almost 30 mpg at 75mph despite the manufacturer saying it would average 23 highway. The German engineering allows this SUV to feel nimble enough that maneuvering around the horrendous traffic of Atlanta is very doable. I have not had to bring it in for service until this week when suddenly, dashboard lights came on, parking break would apply as I can to a stop and the window would drop down about 4 inches. Turns out it is a door harness recall that they repaired quickly. I have also had my sound system shut off which is very annoying but holding down the off button for 10 seconds will do the trick. I did the satellite upgrade when prompted and it has not happened since. The Cross sport is a smooth-driving vehicle. I have driven 800+ miles straight multiple times and never felt road-weary when I reached my destination. That is almost impossible to do these days. The cargo space is excellent and the panoramic roof is amazing. The ACS truly feels like a luxury SUV. On the 2 occasions when friends drove my SUV, both called me while driving and said “Jeezus dude, this thing is awesome!!”. VW has worked hard on their reliability ratings. I would say they are going in the right direction but this is a fairly new line of SUV for them so I am sure there are bugs to work out. I have noticed that even the negative reviews never complain about driving this SUV. It’s a great truck that all the owners feel proud to own.

Purchased new with 35 miles. Currently 14k, and has already leaked oil twice, turns off when in reverse(dealer applied update hopefully this fixes it), and just little quality issues(sunvisor screw fell out dealer had to order special part) and the audio system leaves a lot to be desired. However this is a super comfy suv. I can drive for 8 hours until the seats start to get uncomfortable, its ride quality is excellent, and is super quiet going down the road. I chose the v6 over the new for 24 4 cylinder because it’s much smoother and has a proven reliability record. This will be my first and last vw until they make them a little better and will buy something from a more reputable brand.

I leased VW Cross sport back in 2021 and I will be completing 3 years now in May. I plan to buy out my lease because we are extremely pleased by this cars performance, sturdiness, and overall ownership experience till now. Touchwood I have had not one issue with this car unlike all the negative comments I have noticed in social media. I use this car for city commute for most part and occasionally take it for long trips. I like the V6 sound, there is some turbo lag but I have got used to it and it does not bother me and I can feel the difference when I drive my wife’s CX9, which simply zooms past without a lag. Overall I recommend Atlas Cross sport and plan to keep it for 2 more years with me.

Jerky ride quality with brake noise

Gabriel Lee, 07/29/2023

3 of 4 people found this review helpful

I leased this vehicle, the 4-cylinder turbo SE with tech package. It does not come with memory seat option. Less than 1 year with about 9000 miles, brakes started making grinding noise with any level of moisture on the pad. Dealership said there is nothing to be done because the pads are still new. Worst for me is its very jerky ride quality. It’s definitely not a soft ride, but it’s not a hard ride, either. It’s just very disturbingly jerky going over any irregular surface. Most time, rolling start keep the transmission on first gear which results in jerky acceleration, and accelerating around the corner is also jerky due to incorrect gear selection (too low gear). Also, the passenger side wiper arm angle is wrong which causes even a brand new wiper blade to stutter when going up, but the dealership said the angle was fine. (Seriously?) I cannot wait to turn this in at the end of the lease. The only good quality about this vehicle is the safe feeling from inside due to its size and the thick sheet metal.

I love the car, got it in white with the black interior. It’s a beautiful vehicle that feels commanding on the road and has PLENTY of interior space. The interior is a let down with cheap plastic everywhere and a smallish screen for the size of the dash, but the whole car feels like a tank, very solid. It also drives like a tank, huge and slow, but confident. Like I said I love the car, but 80% of my love comes from the way it looks especially in R-Line trim.

I love this car! It fix my profile. It has all the things I'm looking for in a car. Style, luxury, quality, and sporty! And I didn't have to pay a luxury price tag for it either...

My Atlas Cross Sport brakes make squealing, squeaking, and screeching noises. They sound similar to when brake pads are almost at the end of their lifespan, but the dealership says this is normal in these cars. Weird, huh! Another problem is that sometimes I feel a strong chemical odor coming from the front sunshades, mainly when I put them down and to the side. I have owned this car for 2 years and 5 months, recently, the dealership had to change both front headlamps because the LED daylights were not working. They had to remove the front bumper to change the headlights.
