2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback
I’ve owned this car, in beautiful Galactic Aqua Mica, for 2½ years. Got a good cash price as the model year was being cleared out and now it’s worth more than I paid for it. Weird.
This was replacing a 2003 Civic Sedan (5M) so from my point of view this is satisfyingly peppy. Get it in the right gear and it goes.
Like the automatic lights, automatic brake hill hold, CarPlay, and … visibility. Seats are comfortable. Auto disabling parking brake is great. Gear shifting is smooth. The engine is responsive. Steering is sort of video game like, which is sort of fun. Suspension goes around curves like you would not belief for such an inexpensive car.
The cargo area is small. The heated seats get too warm for southern New Hampshire. The backup camera is always dirty. The center arm rest is too far back. CarPlay will occasionally get clipped, requiring me to restart. The dealer didn’t install the door edging properly. Getting rated MPG means getting it into 6th gear ASAP on the highway. Wish brake hold and rev matching were on by default. Periodically get a temporary warning light about the air intake which goes away and stays away for months.
But, in general, I could hardly be happier with this beautiful quick car.
