2015 Ford C-Max Hybrid
Great transition car from a regular combustion engine to a hybrid car. Drives pretty much like any other car. Looks smaller from the outside but once you sit in it you'll find it very roomy with higher grade interior accents. Several charging plugs for phones or laptops. I do mostly non-highway driving and regularly get 50+ MPG. With highway miles (or the AC on) I commonly get 42-45 MPG. … Smooth ride and pretty quiet as well. I am crazy about this car!
UPDATE- I’ve owned my C-Max now for about 7 months. I still love this car. Still befuddled why I don’t see more of them on the highway. I’ve had no problems with it if any kind. Gas mileage is constant (still) at 50+ mpg with ac off and maybe 42-45 with ac on. I have found a couple of tiny design flaws I wish I could correct- the bar to adjust the seat up and back is too recessed under the seat and I have to really lean down to be able to reach it. Turning on the climate control is easy and it works quite well , car warms up rapidly, but turning off the climate control often requires taking your eyes off the road and looking for the smallish “off” button. Also would like an interior button to open the tail gate.
Still....all very minor points for a great car. I don’t miss any of my previous vehicles!
UPDATE: I have owned this C-Max for, what, over 3 years, and I’m just as pleased with it now as I was when I bought it. There have been no ugly surprises, car runs like a top, mileage is sill 50+ in city and 42 on open highway. I’ve been doing child pick up and delivery for over a year with 30+ kids climbing into and out of the car, feet and food everywhere but the interior has held up beautifully! After having owned many other autos, this has become my favorite of all times.
Update: (Because I was asked to update) Pushing 6 year ownership of my C-Max and I STILL LOVE THIS CAR! There's been 2 recalls (both for faulty door latches) and besides the usual scheduled maintenance and oil changes it's never needed to be in the shop. I also love the way the interior has held up despite me using the car for child pick up and drop offs. It's been full of teenagers (those multiple electronic charge ports come in handy!) on one day and sporting child auto seats the next. After a good vacuuming the interior still looks great! I've had many passengers that have been surprised by the amount of pick up and power the car has when needed especially for a hybrid. In fact most make inquirires about buying one. Alas...no longer made. I could win a million bucks and I still wouldn't buy a new, different car.
Update: I've owned this car this 2018 (bought it used) Just recieved a recall on the ransmission shifter cable so I'll be taking it in for that. Other than that, it's STILL running great, still getting 50+ mpg (with the AC off) and the enterior shows very little wear even after carrying so many kids to/from school. I've head rumors Ford may make the C-Max again. I hope so, I'd be glad to update in a couple of years. Or not, if they don't bring it back I'll be happy to keep what I have.
Asked for another update so here goes.... Nothing has changed. Still same, great gas milage. Nothing has broken, fallen apart or worn out. Bad me, I haven't kept up with the prescheduled maintenance other than oil changes but the car still runs like a top. Interior gets periodic vacuuming and I wipe down the interior with something like Armorall and it looks brand new. I've lost count of my milage but it's up there. The car is garage kept but really, after the wear and tear of so many kids in and out of it I haven't noticed any fading of upholstery or any of the plastic (?) framing parts on the doors or dashboard. Some wearing of the carpeting mat on the drivers side but buying a new mat would fix that.
(today's date May, 2025 asked to do another update) My C-Max hybrid is now 10 years old. Without a doubt, this is the most reliable auto I have ever owned. Other than the regular oil changes, filters and new tires (I've been lax on the suggested maintenance) it's never been in the shop (exception being for a couple of door latch recalls). Still gets driven regularly (I am retired now) and it's driven on long road trips without a second thought. I'm a slob, eat in my car, transport kids, pets, ton after ton of groceries, plants and luggage and accumulate the usual loose papers and debris for weeks. BUT, when taken in for detailing or deep cleaning the car's interior looks brand new. People can't believe how old my car is. Other than the lack of a touch screen, the interior looks as contemporary as most newer cars. Still getting the same gas milage as I've always gotten with the only dips being when the AC is on or I do extensive highway driving at 70 MPH. It's still quick as a bunny when I need to merge or pass. While my C-Max is no longer available as new on the market, I will say that when others ride in it or drive it it has spurred them to look at the EV market further and invest in their own EV. And then we see a cyber truck drive by and we just laugh and laugh…..
