2024 Chevrolet Trax
I had my heart set on a Jeep Renegade, but when I saw the Trax, it had the look I wanted, and I went for a test drive. I decided not to look at any reviews and went into it blind. For city driving, this hit all the requirements. It is certainly not the fastest to accelerate, but that is not always bad. I mean, I'm never going to race with this thing. It's also not the slowest in the … acceleration department either.
Going into the features, I purchased the RS2 trim. There's no moon roof, but that's ok. Apple Carplay was a must if there was no built-in navigation in the infotainment system, which there is not. The infotainment system isn't as fast as the Uconnect system on Stellantis cars. This is a little annoying, but once Apple Carplay is booted, you don't notice.
Another annoying thing is that my phone doesn't always connect to the in-car wifi hotspot, and I need to connect manually. This can be a problem if you do not have unlimited data on your phone, which I do not, and have not downloaded your local maps and music to your phone. However, at an extra $29.99 a month for the wifi hotspot that only works in your car, I am considering upgrading my cell plan as I am not transporting children, and no one is using a laptop.
This is my first car with OnStar, and I am unsure if I will keep it. If I do, I will keep the hotspot as it cuts the cost of the hotspot in half, which is worth it. I would then drop my AAA membership because I am not paying over $100 per year just for travel discounts I get with my job.
My problems with the car are all first-world problems with features I have never had before. For the price, this car is an incredible value. Can you go off-road with it? No, but that is NOT what this car is designed for. This car is designed to be fun to drive on the road and to give you enough room to be a good road trip car.
I love my new car so much, I find any excuse to drive it because it's fun to drive.
