First time BMW owner. Drove nothing but Honda’s for years; traded a 2012 Honda Pilot that I LOVED - as a single woman didn’t need the space - for a 2018 X2. I have always wanted a white BMW 3-Series, but was looking to drive something unique AND within my budget. I always travel by car and normally alone, so reliability is important to me. Initially, I regretted purchasing the X2 as … it was hard getting used to its size.
After 9 months of driving the X2, here is my pros and con list. Pros: fun to drive, good gas mileage, great pick-up, excellent maneuvering, and smooth ride - glides down the highway with no engine strain! Cons: HORRIBLE side visibility - which truly is my only complaint. I would never recommend this car for an inexperienced or unskilled driver.
To address complaints I’ve read, the lack of blind spot indicators doesn’t bother me as I’ve been driving 35 years without them and am not accustomed to such. Road noise is also not a huge factor for me as I normally listen to music and don’t notice any. Besides, as long as the engine is quiet, and it is (when parked, I can’t tell if my car is on/off) - I’m good.
I now know, I prefer large SUV’s. Lol - I also know I can’t afford a large BMW SUV! With that said, I believe the X2 is a great intro to the brand. I don’t see X2’s at EVERY stoplight and that’s nice! I’ll probably buy a “more popular” BMW in a few years, but for now, I’m definitely enjoying the drive!
