Great time to get into an e-tron!

2019 Audi e-tron
If you're in the market for a luxury electric vehicle, you owe it to yourself to check out the Audi e-tron! The specials they're running these days are out of this world: easily $23K off (including federal tax credit) and simultaneously 0% at 72 months. It sure seems like they're dumping the 2019s but not because there's anything wrong with them. The biggest gripe people have about the … e-tron is the range (and to a lesser extent what etron means in French!). Well, guess what? The 2020/2021 models have almost the same range (they're getting a small bump in range but only because they're deactivating the front motor when cruising). This car is loaded with luxury and technology features that you simply cannot find elsewhere (with the possible exception of the Jaguar iPace and Mercedes EQC). The car drives amazingly well for such a heavy and tall vehicle. Push the pedal to the metal and you will sink into your seat. I personally really like Audis (this is my fifth one) but I always preferred the sportier coupes, convertibles, and (as a last resort) sedans. I did not expect to enjoy driving the e-tron as much as I am. Everything in it just works which is something I cannot say for the 2020 Audi A4/S4/A5/S5 models. Did I mention it has a ton of features? You name it, it has it and it's done beautifully: dual motors (front/rear) with torque vectoring, Adaptive air suspension, 360 degree cameras, dual screens (infotainment + climate controls) where the lower screen turns into a keyboard or accessory screen depending on what's going on in the main screen, Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, Ambient Lighting, Electronic Location-Aware Garage Opener (supports 10 or so doors), Integrated Toll Module, Electronic Seatbelt pretensioners, B&O 3D sound system, panoramic sunroof with sunshade, heated/ventilated/12-way 6-types-of-massage front seats, automatic soft-closing doors, air ionizer and fragrance dispenser, rear side sunshades, prepped for trailer hitch, handsfree power tailgate operation ... I seriously find new stuff every time I drive it.
Just to address the elephant in the room, I did consider the Tesla models (S, X, and Y). I did not like the minimalist interior finish, the lack of common features and option packages, the apparent lack of quality control, and lastly the unyielding pricing, even on used models. I wish the company well but it's simply not a great value proposition. You're paying too much for not enough car whereas it's the other way around with the e-tron. The higher range and expansive supercharging network are definitely welcome but a) unless you are a road warrior or b) you prefer that the car drive you, consider the Audi e-tron which is a joy to drive and be in.
