Used 2023 Toyota Tundra Consumer Reviews
Toyota wants you to pay monthly for functions
I just bought a 2023 Tundra Platinum and won't recommend this truck UNLESS you fully understand what Toyota is trying to do and can live (and pay) for it. Toyota is trying to setup their cars as a service where you pay monthly for car functions even though you already paid them $69,000. Simple things like remote start from fob Toyota doesn't work unless you pay a monthly fee for wireless......which you SHOULDN'T need if you already have internet access thru your cell phone. 2nd all those functions that require Toyotas wireless to be enabled (requiring monthly fee) stop working when you DON'T have cell coverage .....REALLY??? Toyota really is working hard to "screw" over its customers ....

Truck is horrid. Toyota dropped the ball.
Bought a 2023 limited, came with a defective transmission from day one. Got it replaced, went another 1000 miles and went to merge onto a busy highway and lost all power. Dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. Parking brake malfunctions daily, terrible window wind noise, software is buggy, throttle control is brutal. Toyota Corporate has been nothing but shady and grimey dealing with all of this. Will never buy another Toyota as long as I live.

Hybrid power but poor mpg
First time truck owner and I love this tundra power but the mpg is well below expectations. I’ve been driving conservatively on Eco-mode for 2 months and I’m averaging 16.7! Estimates are 20/24 for RWD. I agree with other reviewers about the dangerous pre-collision warning and lane assist. I had to disable both as it overpowers the steering and jerks you away or slams on the brakes (with a big BRAKE warning) even if you’re not even close to an object. The steering overall is great & smooth. The interior is beautiful and comfortable. Love the 14in screen and simple to use knobs, but my pet peeve is the lack of split screen for navigation and media (like my previous Lexus). No major issues and I do get a lot of compliments plus it’s fun to drive but very disappointed on mpg. UPDATE: Love the redesign but full of problems that Toyota won’t fix. I’ve contacted HQ numerous times with zero resolution. Let’s start with the terrible mpg for the hybrid. Averaging 16.5 in the city on eco mode. 19 on Hwy which isn’t bad but nowhere close to the 20/24 epa estimates. Second is the squealing brakes in forward or reverse braking. Apparently it’s a common problem with these new tundras but Toyota has no resolution in place nor will they fix or inspect the brakes. This occurred at 1000 miles and I am now at 10,000 miles. It’s an embarrassment driving around & pulling up to a red light with squealing brakes. I wake up all my neighbors when I back out of my driveway every morning. The third major issue I’ve encountered is the dash cam. I’ve never used it or even turned it on but it regularly beeps if I hit a speed bump, or like today, it completely malfunctioned and beeped erratically for 35 minutes while I was driving. It continued to beep even after turning the vehicle off. There’s no question this truck is beautiful inside and out plus has incredible power and acceleration but this has been a huge disappointment.

Worst purchase ever
I paid top dollar for this hybrid truck that they claim would get 20 miles to the gallon. I’m a construction manager and I drive in the city a lot. I’m getting 13 miles to the gallon. After 15 months of driving the front differential burned up and there aren’t even parts in existence to make the repair. I’ve been told theyre manufacturing the parts. I’ve no idea how long I’ll be in a rental. I bought this truck for fuel efficiency, and Toyota reliability. I got neither.
Rushed to market ??
I bought the 2023 Tundra 1794 package. The interior is nice. Within 2 days the rear bumper end cap separated from the main bumper. I called the dealer and they said this is common! They've had several do this. It will be 4 WEEKS before they get the brackets to fix it. Also I noticed that the engine while idling while I ate lunch in the truck is a bit rough. Finally, the fact that Toyota says I won't get my second key for 6 months because of the chip shortage is annoying. I will keep it at least a year. If further problems arise I guess it's back to the F-150.
Want to love my new 2023, BUT
With less than 730 miles engine stopped running, then difficult to start and goes into limp mode. Has to be towed to dealer, who has had it for almost a full work week. They give usual comment about not being able to duplicate the problem. LOL. Then call me and say, come puck up your truck. Problem is, my phone Toyota app says truck still has 5 vehicle alerts, one being check engine. My recommendation is to wait to buy a 2025 version.

Toyota lowered their standards
Came from 2018 5.7 Tundra to a 2023 Tundra. Big change, lots of improvements. Interior is nicely layed out. Exterior styling is overall good. Now to all of my complaints. 1. Windnoise coming from both front doors at 45+mph is annoying. It's irritating, wind noise with a whistle sound. Feels like partial open windows at hire speeds. 2. Door panel rattles. Even at 40% of volume the door panels rattle to the point that I just can not enjoy my music. At 70% volume, more plastics come to life and rattle ruining the experience. Feels like interior is built very cheaply. 3. Carplay keeps crashing every few mins. Random things happen, it'll loose the maps, sometimes it'll send music to my phone speaker, sometimes when on call it'll remove the maps from screen so you must end a call to continue with GPS. Tryied 4 different phones and they all do the same. 4. Roof seals are inconsistent and have gaps from factory which allow for water and salt to get trapped under and eventually rust will follow. 5. Dead throttle at times from start. At light or stop when pushing accelerator, nothing happened for 1-2 seconds...this is a safety issue as this could delay acceleration and leave you in bad situation. 6. Heater vent when set on feet is restricted by something and does not allow for air to flow freely. 7. Truly babing this truck and still averaging only 14 mph on hwy which is far from EPA ratings of 17-22. I've tryied premium, as well as non ethanol gas with no change. Stock tires, driving mostly rural road with ideal speeds of 50mph. Even the previous gen Tundra did better on gas. Toyotas apps rates my driving as "excellent" with perfect braking, acceleration, and turning, so I'm not sure where's the problem with fuel consumption. Toyota dealership has no fix for any of my complaints about the truck. Call Toyota USA and they keep promising to send one of their technician to look at the truck, and it's been 4 weeks now with no results. Toyota truly lowered their quality standards for this new Tundra and does not stand by their products like they used to. I've been a long time Toyota fan, drove their vehicles for couple of decades now, and converted many of my friends and family to Toyota. This is a new direction for Toyota USA and I will not be purchasing anymore of their vehicles that are made in US and will be sure to influence other to stay away from Toyota products as of now. And yes, I'll be trading my '23 Tundra for a 2018 Tundra which is the last year of a bullet proof 1/2 ton pickup truck with transmission cooler.

WTH 2023 Tundra SR-5 with 423 miles on the motor!!
This truck is riddled with issues!! 1) the suspension is horrendous!! It shakes you so much while driving on the freeway you can’t be understood while talking through the carplay because your body is shaking that bad. The whole truck shakes uncontrollably! 2) car play issues- goes on and off on its own atleast 3-5 times a drive. Sometimes the screen goes black and won’t turn back on. 3) gas gauge float sticks and reads near empty after filling up! 🤦🏻♀️ 4) Brake assist is a death trap!! It will go off and slam the brakes so hard my 75 dog was thrown from the back seat into the dashboard because I was driving on a single lane road with other cars parked on the side of the road. Nothing was in front of me! This has happened alot! It terrifying!! 4) the sensors on the front and back will continuously beep if they get water, snow or anything on them. I have to keep wet wipes in my truck to pull over and wipe the sensors off otherwise they will beep excessively! So you cant drive your 4 wheel drive in snow, rain or mud or it goes crazy!🤣 5) the interior lights are Equivalent to candle light. I have to use a flash light to see anything. 5) The heater smells like burning plastic. 6) when the windows get wet they don’t work correctly. The jump when rolling the window up or down enough that I think it will come off the track. 7) acceleration is spotty. You push down on the gas and maintain the little bit of pressure to start driving and it will be going slow and all the sudden feels like you floored the gas peddle. 8) back up camera doesn’t always work- sometime shorts out and screen goes black or goes in and out of looking like a kaleidoscope. 🤷🏻♀️ 9) a lot of wind noise- that bothers me the least but it is true with a lot of the other reviews. This truck is an accident waiting to happen with the brake assist! It’s truly scary every time it happens! Don’t buy the SR-5!! Can’t speak for the other models of the 2023 Tundra.

Water leak inside the passenger door handle
Overall I'm very disappointed that a brand new truck is leaking water inside the cabin, in the Dorr grab. I'm very disappointed how toyota motor Corp handle the situation. My truck spent more time in the dealership than me driving it

Today's Toyota is not yesterday's Toyota!
Toyota doesn't admit when it puts out a bad product or part. Toyota manipulates and misleads consumers based on its history of quality and previous reputation. Today's Toyota is not yesterday's Toyota. I purchased quite a few Tundras from Toyota over the years but I have decided not to buy anything else from them after they designed the air bank system in my Toyota Tundra XSP in such a way that allowed moisture to be taken into the air bank system that inevitably caused corrosion to the air bank system pump and sensor. Toyota knew about the problem and subsequently redesigned the air intake flukes that were the root cause. However, instead of recalling trucks that were manufactured with the bad design flukes; they put a check engine light and mileage limit requirement in a "notification" and mailed it to their consumers. The notification said that the check engine light must come on and indicate a code for the air bank system failure before a certain mileage limit. Well my check engine light came on on the interstate and immediately put my truck into "Limp Mode"; slowing me down to less then 20 mph on a 65 mph freeway. Big safety issue, narrowly avoided crashing. I towed my truck too Toyota for diagnostic and the mechanic consultant told me about their notification and that I was 500 miles over the mileage limit for them to do the repair for free. The dealership would not do the repair for free because the corporation denied them the $2,800.00 repair fee; saying that it was my responsibility. My problem is that the malfunction of the Air bank system was due to bad engineering design and definitely a safety issue. They redesigned the part that was root cause of the failure. Yet they passed that issue and the cost with conditions by "notification" to it's customers. Toyota is not a good company anymore. Buyer be ware.

Almost great equals almost average
Handsome truck but with a number of quality issues. There are many design flaws as well as simply poor build quality. From the cup holders that don't hold cups very well, several recalls, to the cruise control that consistently travels 1-2 mph below set limit, to a fuel gauge that is off by about 100 miles, these are not only my issues, but known issues across the ownership base. My particular tough issue is excessive wind noise. The wind coming in from both driver and passengers side is very loud. They replaced the window seals, but it didn't help. When I took it back Toyota said "It's a loud truck, that's normal". Again, a known issue. Very disappointing from Toyota for an $75K truck.

$76000 -and only one key!!
The truck is okay, but I paid over $75,000 and they gave me only one key! It is now July and still have no idea when they will give me another back up key. I called Toyota and they cannot tell me anything. I am concerned because if anything happens to the one key fob, I am stuck! I can’t believe they have no strategy to fix this!

Electrical problems since day 1!
This is a bad truck! After getting tired of dealing with Ford , I Purchased a brand new Super crew SR5 two weeks ago, it has been at the service shop since then, I had high expectations with the brand... but this is a bad truck, it came with electrical issues in the entertainment system. The issue appeared at the dealer's door at the very moment it was delivered. Making a long story short Toyota tried to fix the issue before replacing the faulty parts...the experience has been by far worst than Ford (which I thought it was the worst, until I purchased Toyota 🫠)

Don’t do it
When you buy a new Toyota, you feel like you were buying quality and reliability, but that is not the case with the new Tundra. The truck came with parts missing, exterior door trim was falling off at 300 miles. Windshield wipers quit working at around 330 miles. Just a poorly built vehicle.

Capstone MAX
Owned a 2015 Tundra Platinum and loved it til this last week when $7k worth of repairs were need (front diff carrier, wheel and hub replaced, etc). So traded it in. Only one key. No ETA. Within the first 100 miles I was pulling an 18 car hauler. Was very powerful. Still to pull my 10k lb travel trailer with it. MPG is around what I got with my 2015 Platinum. This move to a v6 with electric motor is clearly to appease climate activists that hate v8s. No other gain with this design.

Loving it So Far
Bought a limited 4x4 I-force max with TRD off Road package back in June it has been great. I came from a 2016 Tacoma and the power and the 10 speed transmission shifting is far better hands down. I am getting about 16.7 mpg on my in town commute with 35 inch aftermarket tires and 18 inch wheels. There was a slight rattle behind in the plastic on side of the bed but my service department fixed that. My only complaint is I wish the grille surround was color matched instead of aluminum chrome on the limited trim. Probably going to get OEM parts professionally painted and replace that.

Tundra- what happened??
This is my 4th Tundra (Crewmax) I have owned, I couldn’t be more disappointed in the truck, where do I start….. The overall size of the truck has decreased front seats are small, the rear full seat is a joke, barely enough room for my 2 kids to sit comfortably. The storage under the seat is nice but your screwed when u want to carry say a large cooler or tote, while flipping up the seats u now have a bunch of uneven storage bins. Headroom is terrible and I’m only 5’11”. The 4wd system is the absolute worst I have ever seen, in 4wd while towing a trailer up my camp driveway which was ice and snow, the front tires wouldn’t even spin (I’ve contacted the dealer about this by the way) and it’s weird sometimes 4wd works decent other times it’s like I’m in 2wd. I put truck in 4Lo took 3-4 minutes to finally shift out. Did I mention NO TOW HOOKS!!!! Come on Toyota your kidding me, WTF!!! Gas gauge you can’t even see it where it’s located on panel, way at the bottom, makes no sense. Hate the fact the truck shuts off when you open door while using remote start, that’s just stupid. Driver seat has no lumbar extremely uncomfortable. The one nice thing I will say I do like about this truck is the twin turbo V6, goes very well a lot of torque and tows really well, the ride is ok but that makes me nervous that’s it’s built for city driving and not tough like a truck should be. I don’t know Toyota, you built a name for the Tundra because it’s tough, not this 2023 SR5, Terrible, I’m almost embarrassed
Lack of parts and service
Toyota and the dealerships need to look at their ability's relating to parts and service. I purchased a new 2023 Toyota Tundra in October of 2023 and had to bring it to the dearlership where I purchased it on November 24, 2023 because a rat had chewed the wiring harness. The truck is still siting there today because Toyota says they are still working on getting the part (wiring harness). My insurance company has approved and cut the dealership a check since December 7, 2023. The dealership service department can provide no information about anything. We contacted the Toyota resolution center on December 27th and they are just as bad as the dealership...no information and the case worker is never in to take or return calls. Why should it take over 2 months for a part? I am not sure how I can rate the truck for only having it a month, but as far as service and parts go my rating is in the negative.
Scratchy windshield
Bigger display but during daytime it is hard to read the AC control buttons. One week after I purchased the truck I noticed scratches on the windshield. Looks like rainbow apparently from the wiper’s blades. You cannot notice the scratches during the day but in early morning with the dew you can see it. Took it to the dealer where I bought it and they say it is normal. 3 days later I notice the left fender is rattling because it is screw in, first they taught that somebody is trying to pry it but they cannot find any scratches so they fixed it but I noticed that it is starting to open up again. I can only get 16 miles city driving and 19 highway. Took it to another dealer and Toyota denied my claim against the windshields. My truck is brand new for me to put scratches in one week. I should not have traded my F-150.

Poor quality Control, plastic Minivan w/truck body
I have to say, generally Toyota's are bit Tin Can like but this one is unreal. It feels like a kit car that some kid put together. Wind noise that the 2022 had not fixed and no fixes for. Tail gate so much heavier duty that the rest of the truck, it bangs up and down and feels like its going to bend the back of the truck.. Great to have tough tailgate but body so weak it can't support it. Door seals non existent , sound dampening on 60k truck so poor you can hear a cricket out side.. Window? could they transmit more sound? I swear they seem to increase the noise out side. Stay away unless you plan to drive this around a city and put paper bags in the back of it. Its not a truck its a minvan with a bed on it.

KEPT I MONTH
Steering very sensitive to the point it is dangerous. Can't see over the touch Screen on sharp r.h. turns.Ride was rough and bumpy. No rear floorboard Storage as the plastic bin under the rear seat is the depth of the seat.I had a 2018 tundra that i loved and ordered the 2023 1794.sold the truck after 1 month and took a 8 k hit.can't say enough negative things about this model
This this is absolutely garbage
From trim falling off to the plastic rattling interior. This vehicle is absolutely terrible. I just traded my 23 TRD in for a f150. I'm extremely happy to be out of that piece of crap. What a failure toyota! Do better

Lot more money, worth the cost?
Purchased a 2023 Platinum, came off a 2021 GMC AT4; but before that over a decade of back to back Toyota ownership with different years and trims of Tundras, FJ cruisers, Highlanders, Tacomas, Lexus RX’s and GS sedans. Thinking about the overall build and utility over the years—this current Tundra doesn’t disappoint. Fit is on par, performance and usability is as well. The truck feels refined as any other higher trimmed Toyota or any Lexus. But…coming off the GMC, I will say I got to experience what rival vehicles do well, and it really highlighted Toyotas areas of needed improvement. Toyota may do well to rethink dimensions…as the American market generally has bigger people and that being said, this platinum interior feels tight, in relative comparison. Interior storage compartments were in far less abundance. I feel the interior materials had too much plastic, and what few pieces that were “soft” were just plastic with a thin layer of rubberized faux leather like material. For the price being paid…I’d expect a better material suite. I HATE the big data monitoring of the vehicles usage and internal diagnostics. It’s a huge privacy concern that Toyota can transmit video, GPS location, and all the other bits of vehicle data. No entity should be able to monitor your daily travels. We need a way to opt out of ALL of that. Otherwise…with being a new generation, I waited to get into one to assure I didn’t get hit with early adopter issues. Looks like there may still be some kinks to work out based on these other reviews…but I’ve yet to experience them personally.

Too Many Whistles And Bells, No Common Sense
2023 Tundra Ltd, 4x4 75 series, twin turbo v-6, crew max. Our previous truck was a 2007 Tundra, and we absolutely loved it, until it threw it's timing belt and seized the engine. (Love it so much, we're going to get the engine rebuilt). So we figured hey, let's do another Tundra. We chose the 2023 4x4 Limited. Worse decision ever. It has features that you cannot shut off, and for us, making driving this truck a pain in the backside. Today was the last straw for me, in regards to writing a negative review. I was at the grocery store, pulled into my space, and needed to back up a titch to straighten out. The truck sensed another vehicle coming up the main lane of the parking lot and slammed on my brakes with a deafening grind. OMG, I thought I'd hit a car, scared the you know what out of me. I was no where close to being in the main lane of the lot, nor close to the approaching car. This truck has done this multiple times to both my husband and me, and about gives us a heart attack each time. And, the lady loading her groceries into the vehicle next to me jumped and looked at me like my truck was going to explode after hearing the self braking grind. It has a the feature of turning itself off when you've come to a stop for more than a couple of seconds, such as a red light. You hit the gas, and the engine restarts. You can turn this feature off, but you have to turn it off each time you start the truck. Our mechanics who specialize in Toyotas say this feature really wears out the expensive starter, and doesn't save a noticible amount of gas. And, there is a delay from when you press the gas pedal to when you actually move. My husband almost got in trouble because of this feature, and not being able to scoot across an intersection as fast he could of with our older Tundra (because of the delay in the truck starting). You cannot have your door open if your moving slowly, such as trying to back into a spot, the truck won't move if the door is open. Yes, it has backup cameras, but sometimes you need more an eyes on approach. If raining heavily, you can't use the cameras, they are obscured. If dark out, cameras aren't all that great either. Our 2007 V8 Tundra got close to 19 mpg. This 2023 Tundra is about 15 mpg. The lighting inside the cab is crap. Can't see a thing using the dome type lights. And many of the controls don't have a backlight any longer. If it's night time, and you want to put down your window, you have to do it by feel, as you can't see the panel. Many of the controls on the dash have no backlight on them as well, meaning you have to keep your eyes off the road for a longer period of time to locate what your looking for. We do like the large screen/monitor. It is handy for backing up. But the other features you need to control with the screen are difficult to navigate, again, distracting you from keeping your eyes on the road. We live in an area with lots of road construction. The white lines are all over the place, and the feature that helps keep you in your lane is worthless, it's always trying to pull us back into what it perceives as a lane. One of these days it's going to pull a truck into another car. If a vehicle comes up on your side while your driving, alarms will sound, scaring the you know what out of you. Hey Toyota, I'm driving on the road with other vehicles, yes I know there are going to be vehicles coming up on my sides. Sometimes it sounds off alarms that we have no idea what it's complaining about. Again, very distracting while you're driving. We can't get these alarm features disabled, as they are considered safety features. Ugg. Can no longer get a Tundra in a V8. The hood is funky in design, making it hard to determine your center. The bed is too short. Can't find toppers for it, and it's not long enough to go truck camping in, or haul something like a couch. Those are just the cons that are coming to mind at present moment. I know there's more. We will be trading this Tundra in this summer for a different truck. Probably going to go with Dodge Ram, which is what we used to drive pre-2007 Tundra.

Nicely appointed & blazing fast
This is an upgrade from a 2017 Tundra SR5 and the engine and transmission are much changed. The twin turbo V6 is blazing fast but the mileage is not much improved from the old V8. Biggest complaint is there is no way to step into the truck bed without purchasing the optional bed steps which are standard on every other pickup out there. Also you won't know until taking delivery that you only get one key fob due to the chip shortage. I've asked Toyota several times for a delivery date for the 2nd key but they are evasive. If you lose the key and you aren't in the dealer's parking lot you are screwed.

80,000.00 dollar mistake, Always had Toyotas and absolutely loved them, have a 2013 Avalon awesome car ! Retired from the Fire Service after a 45 year career that's when I wanted to buy a Toyota truck to travel in. Saw a 2023 Toyota Tundra black 1794 edition black, absolutely beautiful, fabulous interior, had to have it and ordered one. If I had had a couple of weeks to REALY look it over and drive it, it would have been sitting back on their lot. The truck is almost all plastic I live on the Gulf Coast of Alabama where the intense heat of summer is starting to warp certain parts of it, terrible gas mileage 16.7 never been above that and they say up to 24 MPG on sticker. wind noise on passenger side front door, paint extremely thin and scratches easily and shows up really well with a white undercoating. When the tailgate is down there is no step ( plastic bumper is poping loose at the ends as well now. I carry a small step ladder in the bed of the truck so I can SAFELY get in the back. I was always told to have your vehicle under control at all times, not with this one ! With only 8000 miles driving on this abomination the safety devices have caused me to have some very close calls with having a serious accident. This corrective steering is dangerous, and the cruise control I no longer use because several times it slowed me down and people have on several occasions have almost rear ended me. We have a farm and have a lot of tall grass but can't use it in the fields because the sensors detect the grass as something solid the truck slams on the brakes when trying to back up. Defiantly not a farm truck. Plastic interior sctraches easy and the carpet if you can call it that is nothing but fuzz glued on a thin fabric which after a couple of vacuuming starts to chafe up. Has been several recalls one came just the other day. Took it for its first servicing showed them the on button for the radio was broken they said we will have to order a new radio, showed them the loose antenna on top of the truck they said they have to order a new one, on the wind noise they said I would have to get that looked at when they get the other parts in. That was 4 Months ago. Super super disapointed ! For 45 years I was a firefighter ( I drove a Ladder Truck ) and never had a wreck but if I was to keep this truck its only a matter of time and they tell me if I take these so called safety features off it would void the warranty. At this point I drive it very little about one tank load of fuel a month and mostly use my 2013 Toyota Avalon with 250,000 miles (and no problems ) back in the day when reliability was Toyota. To sum it all up, outstanding looking exterior and interior my analogy is, its like falling in love with a super beautiful curvaceous woman but on the inside she's DERANGED. P.S. If anyone wants to buy a low milage beautiful truck drop me a line.
Multiple issues right away
This is my third toyota truck and only one I've had issues with. It has a hesitation when accelerating from a stop or rolling stop. Dealer says I just have to wait for an update. Windows have intermittent issues going up and down. Back up camera is distorted. Android auto very buggy. 3 recalls already

What happened Toyota?
After owning four Tundras, a 2002, 2007, 2016, and the 2023, I can confidently say Toyota has really messed up a once great truck. Went so far to trade mine for a new GMC Sierra (excellent truck so far after 21,000 miles). I had never ending issues with my Tundra. The interior quality is subpar at best, the paint chips just looking at it the wrong way, the techy stuff is buggy and glitchy, and absolutely awful fuel economy. All in all a massive disappointment. We’re just a half Toyota family now as my Wife still loves her 4Runner. Buying a new Tundra? Well, you’ll make new friends at the local Toyota service department!

2023 capstone- garbage
Traded my 2015 tundra limited in for a w023 capstone. This is probably one of the worst decisions I've ever made. This vehicle had been in the shop more than it has been in my garage. Today the hybrid malfunction light came in along with the check engine and traction control warning. This is the second time in less than 12 months for the hybrid malfunction warning.
Love the 1794!!
Coming from a 2020 Trd Pro I wasn’t sure how I would like the v6 Twin turbo. After driving it I completely forgot about the previous Gen. Tech, power, smoothness, pano roof, quality! Completely love this truck!

Pure Power
2023 showroom Capstone Hybrid with sunroof, safe and other fully loaded items, 4K miles. I gave five stars however if you compare Capstone to other truck it will not be apples to apples. Amazing power, ride is smooth and quiet (no noise), cameras and safety and anger things work great. Mpg is a downside and I am getting around 15 mpg avg. for 4K total miles with towing 4k travel for about 1k miles (70% highway 30% hills). Still learning all the gadgets but over all good experiences. Other considerations for potential buyers is maintenance cost, 22” tires are expensive @ about $500 per piece.

1950 brakes
I have a 2023 Platinum Tundra and owned it since November 2023. The brake squeal like an old junker from the 1950's. Toyota states that it only occurs of some Tundra's and are looking at it. If they cannot figure it out with parts numbers and computer data from assembly lines in today's world, I wonder if they are not taking it seriously. I recommend you do not buy a Tundra; Toyota doesn't seem to care, and you are stuck with a $70K squeaking truck. I have 3 to 4 open recalls and one is a fire issue and cannot get parts at dealership to fix the problem. If they cannot get these fixed, then are they going to fix squeaking brakes? I doubt it.

Camry ish, plasticky tin canish
Bought a '23 1794 Tundra based in past ownership of flawless 2000 SR5 and good experience with 2008 Crewmax. This new thing is disappointing, just feels cheap with all the plastic, fake V8 engine sound, glitchy infotainment system, bottoming out rear air ride, skittish steering. [non-permissible content removed] I'm driving a lifted Camry. Went to trade, offered $58k on a $70k truck with only 6k miles. 😳

Wish it had been built in Japan
It's a lovely truck generally speaking. Road noise is modest, the interior is comfy and it's a handsome truck. However, overall quality is very questionable for a vehicle in the $70K range. Besides Toyota cheaping out wherever they could (ie -you can't open the rear doors when locked with key in pocket because they failed to put sensors in the rear handles). Aside from the obvious, the it has a composite bed (payload of only 1,900lbs), very frustrating entertainment center and wind noise that will drive you out of your mind (Google Wind Noise 2023 Tundra). To add insult to injury Toyota has had no less than 4 recalls on the new Tundra in the first 6 months of my ownership. When discussing the wind noise issue with the dealer I am told to stop bringing it in because the wind noise is normal. "It's just a loud truck". If I could start over I would not buy this truck.

Still not ready
I had a 23 tundra platinum. Hated every minute of owning it. The ride was absolute garbage. Imagine riding in a truck without shocks. Now make it worse. The 3.4 turbo is at best 18 mpg. I got 17.5. Everything in the interior rattles. The doors, the windows, the console - rattles. The truck is not ready. Paid $70k and regret every day in this truck. Had Toyota "fix" the interior buzz twice - no change. They changed the door seal, changed the window seal in the door - still rattled going down every crack in the road. And you feel the horrible ride. Look at the lots and see how many of the trucks are for sale. Do yourself a favor. Drive Ford, Ram, and Chevy and tell me you can't feel the difference in absolutely everything from the interior to the ride. $70k? You couldn't give me another one. Toyota is garbage just like all the other manufactures now. Nothing is quality anymore. It's sad.
Nice Truck
Lots of power, great handling, tows well. Not the best for gas mileage.

What a Disappointment
Engine sucks. Electronics suck. Trim & finishes suck. The only good “Toyota” thing about it is the 4WD. Toyota should be embarrassed with this truck. UPDATE: So many things wrong it’s depressing to revisit. Recalls, transmission, seat bases cracking, electronics failing, inconsistent performance, trim just falling off, everything seemed loose / poorly assembled, etc. Let’s just say I should have waited for the reviews by all the experts. Kept it for less than a year & went back to the tried & true 5th gen 4Runner TRD Pro (before they slap a 4-cylinder for 2025). First real disappointment with a Toyota in over 30 years of owning one,

Great truck but a lot of recalls
Bought my 2023 Tundra April of 2023. Love everything about the truck. The interior is beautiful and the exterior looks sharp. I had no issues with the truck at all. My only gripe is all the small recalls on the truck and Toyota has no resolution.

My “last” truck purchase!
I love my 2023 Tundra 1794 edition. Drove it down and back to Arizona from Wyoming!! Performed like a charm. Won’t look to replace this beauty so it is my “last” truck I will ever own!!

pricey
vehicle is real nice BUT the fuel mileage is terrible as other models do somewhat better and the ride is a bit harsh/stiff until you get some weight in it, also the turning isn't quite as sharp as other trucks which makes it hard to get into tight parking spaces.

Probably best bang for the buck!
Noticeable vibration and some hesitation in drivetrain at take off and acceleration ! I still prefer it over the F150,RAM, and Silverado! I also own a used Truck/ car dealership for past 22 years and owned several Tundras and Lexus and believe in the superior reliability of Toyota .

I LOVE my tundra!
Hubby finally pulled the trigger and got me a 23’ Tundra Limited! This truck is GORGEOUS. Ice cap white. I got the tech/lighting package with the upgraded media system and great bed lighting. Plus this awesome side button next to the taillamp that releases the gate. So you could push it with your elbow if your arms were full of cargo or something heavy. Also got the panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats.. Told hubby I needed a 4x4 just in case I wanna have some fun :) never hurts to have it! Didn’t get the JBL audio but I think the standard pioneer system gives decent sound for when you’re riding kid free. Lol. I wasn’t sure about air ventilation for my two kids being that we live in south Florida. But they’re always complaining that they’re COLD when we’re driving around so I guess that’s a good thing! The seats are firm but super supportive and comfortable. You feel like you’re in a big diesel truck in this thing. Idk why. Windshield is kind of narrow but still a commanding view. The WHOLE rear window rolls down in classic Toyota style. I didn’t get the hybrid but the engine power is great, just need to give it a little extra punch to feel that booooost! Gas is so/so, been averaging 15mpg. Ride is very smooth for a 4 wheel drive truck. I feel like I’m in an suv. And it doesn’t have the air suspension either. I got the 6.5 bed so you could fit everything and more in there. Everything in the cabin is thoughtfully laid out and practical, with tons of trays, cup holders and a wireless charger. Media system is pretty easy to use. I did notice the wind noise here and there at higher speeds but I’ve had the truck for about 3 weeks and it’s only happened a couple of times. Overall super happy with this beast. Feels like a dream. I think my only gripe is that the side steps and kind of tight to the body so you have to really pay attention when you’re stepping up so that you don’t slip, Went from a nightmare 2018 expedition limited max to this truck. Beautiful suv but a million issues, Ford service is the worst. So glad to be back in a Toyota. You just cannot compare to the solid quality. If your wife has been begging you to get her a truck… GET HER THIS ONE!

Tundras are junk
I just traded a 2023 Tudra for a Ram 1500. Never owned a Toyota and never will again.Biggest peice of garbage I’ve ever owned. Transmission is clunky and slips and shifts very strangely. Had a recall on the Transmission which made it worse. Vehicle was parked after that due to being unsafe to drive because the engine may or may not stall at any time. This truck and ALL other Tundras should be removed from the hiways, they are dangerous. Do yourself a favor and research their engine.Mine was a manufacture date of 5/23 which according to Toyota is ok. They(corporate) as well as the dealer told me it’s not recalled (yet). When questioned they didn’t recommend carrying passengers, unbelievable. I lost $18,000 on this but at least I didn’t kill anyone. Imagine your new truck full of your precious children just shutting off when your cruising down the hiway at 70mph. Toyota needs to be sued out of existence for allowing these to remain on the road. The glory days of Toyota trucks are over. Do your research or you’ll be sorry! Don’t believe a word Toyota says. They don’t even deserve one star.
1794
So far so good. However due to supply issues, there was only one key fob at time of purchase
3rd Tundra Owner 2023 Tundra Pro build date 05/23
I purchased this Tundra with the intentions of keeping it. Some of the reviews concerned me, but I have not experienced any of these issues. The ride is great, no wind noise (NONE), handles like I expected, smooth and fast acceleration. She is a 6000 lb beast. The safety sensors work as they should. Gas mileage is a little better than the 5.7 V8. Only small con is I expected more out of the JBL system but it will do and it has a wide turning radius. I believe Toyota got the kinks out by late 2023 build.
