Great all round pickup for family use
Purchased as a tower, hauler, and family vacation vehicle. The Limited is luxury enough, but not over the top. It has a power slide moon roof and power rear window making this seem like an open air jeep when we want to. This will be incredibly fun for beach trips when we drive the beach. The crewmax is huge and comfortable for all 5 passengers. The limited leather is good quality and easy to clean. The controls and buttons are simple and easy to use, also feel sturdy. I have heard of complaints about the infotainment system's visibility, but I have not experienced that problem. My driving impressions are positive. The engine is powerful and the 6 speed transmission is well matched. Acceleration is spot on. Steering is good with decent feel and excellent turning radius. The exhaust note is nice with the TRD performance exhaust. The only downside is gas mileage. It has met the 13/17 MPG in my driving the truck 3000 miles. But, to get better mileage it would have meant going to a different brand that would have cost more money for the same trim level. I am hoping that Toyota reliability and value retention will make up for the increase in gasoline costs. My thought is it will. In closing, this vehicle was purchased as a utility vehicle that will meet our family needs. So far it is very competently doing its job. 8 month update. No problems to report. Functions for me as expected. No complaints. Still very comfortable to drive. Easier to maneuver and park with 8 months experience. Love this truck, plan to keep a very long time. 3 year update. Still loving this truck. No problems. Still does what I want it to do. Gas mileage is 15 mpg on average. I have gotten over 18 mpg on highway trips. Interior and exterior holding up well. Have only done routine maintenance, no repairs. I would definitely buy again, however I am keeping this one for a long time. At 40,000 miles, still trouble free. Just basic maintainence. Will need front brakes soon. New tires probably at 50k. Love this truck.

Great truck & I have owned them all!!
Best engineered truck that I have ever owned. Great driver sitting position and visibility. Strong motor and nice equipment level. The need for a higher trim level to get auto on lights is a bit silly

V8 5.7 versus 4.6 L
I had a 2015 Tundra SR5 5.7 L for 2 years and was t-boned from a side street, and it was totaled. The kia car who hit me, literally there were thousands of pieces of his car all over the road! The only piece of my Tundra that fell off was a letter or two from the chrome "Tundra" that is on the side of the vehicle on the front passenger's door. That's it other than the side 2 doors being smashed in real good. Mine was totaled due to bending the frame at the back under the car. I went out with a nice insurance payout and got a 2017 Tundra SR5 with the smaller 4.6 L engine. In the 2 years I had the 5.7 L, I never pulled or towed one thing. So I test-drove the 4.6 L. I could not tell any difference test-driving for 15 minutes. So I got the 4.6 L. Here is what I can tell you after having it a week. The 4.6L is MUCH better for driving in town and urban areas - stop / go / 35 MPH-50 MPH. The transmission shifts more smoothly and feels better driving. I can also tell it accelerates faster from 0. The 5.7L roared and did not like to go under 50 MPH it seemed. In town traffic driving the 5.7 L in 25-50 MPH stop and go was painful. Transmission shifting out from 0 was just ok with the 5.7 L but the 4.6 L is better. I don't know how much weight loss the truck has from the 5.7 versus the 4.6 but I swear the truck feels lighter and more nimble. I like it better. I don't pull/tow/haul but I carry stuff in the bed so for me, the 4.6 L works, and I like it better.

Toyota Tundra SR5 TRD Package
Nice truck, handles well, comfortable, smooth ride. Only thing missing is a few bells and whistles that are on comparable Ford/Chevy trucks. No turn signals in mirrors, no power rear window, no dual climate controls. These were standard on my old 2010 Toyota Tundra 4X2. It would have been nice to have these, but I gave them up for the long term benefit. I expect my Tundra to last a lot longer than the other pickups on the road. Too bad Toyota cut back on these on this model, you have to get the Limited, Platinum to have these included. Fuel economy is not as good as the other pickups on the market, but I didn't buy it for fuel economy. Otherwise very happy with the purchase.

Under the radar
I hesitated buying this Tundra due to the relatively poor reviews, but after spending months researching and test driving all the major truck brands, I could not consider anything other than a Tundra. Granted you give up a few miles per gallon but it is worth it to get the HP, torque and beefy drive train.
