Used 2016 Toyota Tundra Consumer Reviews
Great Truck But Changes Needed
I have owned this Tundra for 10 months now and for the most part am happy with it. Styling ,performance ,comfort , gas mileage are good but the interior dash and driver's side is poorly designed and the new 2017 is the same. The first design mistake was removing the grab handle from the driver's side ; I ordered the parts using a 2013 as reference and put it back on (cost about 150.00) . It is needed by some of us and I don't like using the steering wheel to pull myself in . The second mistake was taking away the daytime dash lights unless the parking lights or headlights are turned on . The dash looks drab and the small gauges are hard to see without dash lights ; I cannot see the savings for omitting them . The third mistake is the placement of controls . When sitting behind the wheel you cannot see the right side controls because the steering wheel completely blocks the view . There is no way that one can see them while driving without leaning far to the right and ducking your head down ; try that at 70 MPH.The lift side is a little better but not much . Lastly the window and door buttons are only lighted for the front ; the back buttons are dark. Very disappointed with the design and am surprised that the 2017 is the same. This is an update 3/22/207 - As of this date I no longer own this 2106 Tundra. I traded it three weeks ago for a 2017 Highlander AWD for following reasons. The Highlander is a very refined SUV with practically all of the new options included . I opted for the Limited AWD including thefactory hitch (5000 lb tow rate ) and am very satisfied with it . The Tundra and the Highlander are priced very similar but are worlds apart in development and features. This was my third Tundra but I felt that Toyota is not really behind the growth of the Tundra line. Toyota should take a hard look at their competition and just see how far they are behind in features and technology .Update 9/22/2017- I see that the 2018 Tundra is about the same as previous models ; no driver grab handle ,no daytime dash lights and hidden controls . But the 2018 Sequoia and Land Cruiser both have the driver side grab handle and daytime dash lights and no hidden controls . this shows me that Toyota is not serious about the truck line when similar models show features that Tundra omitted or do not have . The Tundra does not compare with Ford or Chevrolet or Dodge trucks in features or models offered .I guess Toyota is satisfied with being last in truck sales .Perhaps they should move best selling Camry designers to the truck division and let them revamp the Tundra and Tacoma .Update 3/25/2021. Still pleased with my Tundra ! No problems of any kind ;I get many compliments on the Tundra and especially the pleasant sound and looks of the TRD dual exhaust . When I bought this Tundra I really wanted the LB(8 ft) box fully equipped but although it is offered in the SR and SR5 models try to find one .My dealer searched the SE region and did not find one. Maybe I could have factory ordered one but not offered to me . And also when you go above the SR5 the short 5.5 box is all you can get ( good for about 2 bags of trash );I would have purchased the Limited for the extra options ie.push button start , leather etc.Toyota falls short when it comes to selection for the Tundra. However I like my Tundra and the few changes made really improved it but more changes are needed.

Great Truck 2016 double cab 4x4 trd sb 5.7v8 ffv
Bought new in March of 2016. I've had no problems. Fit and finish is fine. I looked at crew cab but chose double cab mainly for storage bin beneath rear seat, absent in crew cab model not sure why. Storage bin is so handy. I got the factory spray in bed liner it looks nice and gives great traction when walking on it but I was disappointing to see it isn't thick like the Rhino liner I had on my '02 Tacoma. There are a lot of hard plastics used on the interior which I am not fond of but the competition Ford, Chevy, Dodge all use hard plastics inside. Otherwise I really like the interior look. Seats are comfortable. I am 5'10" 190lbs. I have cloth seats and they seem well made. I find the material makes vacuuming up dog hair fairly easy. I really like that the TRD comes with Michelin tires. The cabin is quiet for a truck and on the highway all I can hear is some tire noise. The ride is really pretty smooth for a truck and compared to my '02 4x4 TRD Tacoma. You do feel some expansion cracks on highways but nothing major. Handling is excellent. Exhaust has a nice growl. Transmission shifts smooth. Great acceleration. I have done no towing. Gas mileage seems to have improved a bit. I started with 14.3-14.7 mostly city. Now I am getting 15 mostly city. I haven't had any long highway trips to be able to report mileage.

First Tundra and Great So Far !
I owned a Tacoma several years ago and it was still going strong after 235k miles and decided to go back to a Toyota truck. After researching everything from Ford, GMC, Dodge & Nissan I decided to go with the Tundra. I test drove the new Tacoma but found it to be somewhat cramped inside and the Tundra is a very smooth, nice handling truck for its size. UPDATE: After 26,000 miles the truck has been perfect and never lets me down. I read reviews about Fords and Chevys being at the dealership for repairs weeks at a time and glad I made the decision that I did. Hauling fencing and decking along with towing a 7000 lb boat is effortless with the 5.7 liter. The Tundra may not constantly be updated with the newest electronics or fancy LED lighting but I know it will get me where I need to go and be reliable for years to come. As a Toyota engineer put it, they are more interested in QDR (Quality, Durability and Reliability) rather than changing engines and updating body styles year after year.

Dynamite Tundra PRO
If you can get one, buy it! These are built for the serious off roader. That said, the overall on road ride is slightly better than their regular 4X4 model. The look of the Magnetic Gray color is super bad a**. Guaranteed that nobody will have one just like yours. Everything is typical super reliable Toyota quality. Not much more to say. UPDATE: 6/18/18, What a truck! My opinion and declarations regarding this vehicle have only improved. Cannot express enough positive comments about my Tundra Pro. As good or better than a Japan manufactured vehicle. Have purchased Toyota's for 30 years and they just keep getting better. Get one if you can!

Another New Toyota
This is my 5th new Toyota, only the second truck ..I would have never gotten rid of my '02 Tacoma extended cab SR5 4WD but i needed more power for towing a camper..I had 215,000 on my '02 with no issues..replaced clutch,pp,tob at 205,000 miles is only thing out of PM....Toyotas forever in my family....I have less than 300 miles on it but checked the mileage and i got 18.93 MPG on first trip to the station...Alot of the MPG is the size of the foot...LOL
