I currently own the 2005 Toyota Tundra Limited 4dr 4x4 and it is the best vehicle that I have owned yet! I bought the truck with 50,000 miles on it and have since put 30,000 more miles onto it and it hasnt even had a hicup. I have driven the truck from Colorado to the tip of texas and back, hauled a packed full 6'x12' trailer from Colorado to New York and then from New York to Oklahoma and havent had a single problem or gripe with this truck. I currently use it as a daily driver and occasionally to haul the 4 wheeler to the sand dunes for a fun weekend.

The 75% American Truck

This truck is made here in the USA in Princeton, Indiana. The truck has most of the vehicle components made here, made with the quality that America is know for. It is a truck made for the American market of working and outdoor folks. The size of the truck is not too big to be overwhelming driving it around the city, in compare to the second and third generation big Tundras (even though they offer a bigger towing and payload capacity). This truck is the perfect size for my application of hauling gear and people for mountain biking. That is all the good things about the truck. Now for some of it not so great features. The equipped 4.7L engine requires the timing belt to be change every 100,000 miles, not a big headache once you do it the first time for a DIYer. The other dislike is the lack of more storage space for stowing gear in neatly order in the bed or the cab. The under the rear seat in the crew cab is small, just to put 4 half gallon milk jugs end to end.

55,000 miles and going!

I bought this truck in 2008 with 50,000 miles on it with faith in Toyota's reputation in longevity. So far no maintenance problems, just a battery replacement. The ride is comfortable with the TRD package, including at high speeds, and I love the full sliding rear window. The 4WD works great in snow with rare instances in which the 4WD does not engage immediately. The dashboard around the stereo and glove box squeaks irritatingly on bumps/rough roads, especially when cold. Overall a great vehicle and I plan on keeping it until it runs into the ground!

Big truck mileage, mid-sized performance.

I needed a vehicle for reliable transportation to replace my 20 year old F-150. The dealer offered me an awesome deal on a three year old, low mileage Tundra and I took it. Very comfortable, 100% reliable, handles well and holds its value. On the downside is the mileage. Most of my driving is commuting to/from work and I feel fortunate if I get 15 MPG. I want to put a camper (slide-in pop-up type) on it and am extremely limited in what I can get. The tow capacity is more than what I've ever needed but I'd like to have more available. My buddies with 3/4 ton trucks get better mileage than I do.

Toyota should warn consumers on ball joint failure

I was always a happy owner of my 2005 Toyota Tundra. Now i will never own another Toyota again. My front wheel fell off because of the ball joint failure. I just had it in Deery's Brothers Toyota 2 months ago about an air bag replacement and I asked them to check the terrible noise in front end. The service department said everything was fine. By God grace that I was not killed or killed someone else my front drivers side wheel fell off in a Menards parking lot last Friday. Toyota has a problem. I called Deerys on Tuesday because I saw there was a recall on the ball joints and mine was replaced and I told the nice person they needed replaced or looked at again. I got no response. I am hoping a class action lawsuit will be made and Toyota owns up to this terrible design. Sorry Toyota after years of bragging about your vehicles I am now one who is very disappointed by your cars and trucks. Thank you and I hope no one gets killed driving your vehicles.
