My Fifth Toyota

My wife loves her Matrix. She is a school teacher and carries many school related and other types of things in it. It swallows amazing quantities of stuff for a small station wagon. She also insisted upon a manual trans, and is very happy with it. Great in the turns..like a sports car. I love how easy it is to enter and exit, and the room in the rear seat. Lots of nooks to store things.

Great Car for the money

I just bought my Matrix, and I love it. It handles great and am very satisfied with it so far. I will say that after driving both an automatic and a 5spd I would recommend that you go with a 5 spd if it doesn't bother you. It performs much bettern and is a joy to drive.

Great car for the money

This is a great car for the money. It's a combination of an SUV/Sport Sedan vehicle. Interior is very sporty (XR MODEL) and very spacious given its size. Engine has a lot of pep, its kicken 180 horses and its only a 4 cylinder. Engine is very quiet as well. As for reliability, all I can say is that "it's a Toyota.

Toyota needs to figure it out interiors.

Our family pretty much only purchases toyotas for their reliability and mpg, however, I will no longer be following this trend. Toyota really needs to figure out interior driver's legroom issues in ALL of their models. There's no reason why the front seat should not be able to move back another 4-6 inches. This vehicle will be cramped if you are over 5'7".

Unrefined Fast and Cheap

I'll start with the postitive comments: The thing is fast when you get it in the high rpm range. The suspension is pretty tight for such a high vehicle, and the 17" wheels with firehawks have a-lot of grip. otherwise, at low rpm's the thing is a dog. The 1st gear is so tall, it is hard to get it moving without either burning up the clutch or stalling. The interrior is cheap hard plastic. If you must have one, get a good price. On ebay they are going for $15k or less. They are not worth the $20k dealers are charging.
