Used 2015 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
Limited Platinum
Favorite things: Fully Loaded with options seen with luxury brands but much lower in cost. Top Safety Plus pick with the pre-collision safety system (only available on the limited platinum) Every one loves the panoramic sunroof! Easy to drive, great turning radius for its size. Kids love the space in the rear seats. Things that could be better: Fuel efficiency has been worse than I expected, running about 17 MPG in mixed use. Not too fond of the Entune/Navigation system. We still end up using our favorite map app on our phone instead of Toyota's version.

Ownership 4 years, 65k miles
Navigation system voice recognition is still unreliable after a Toyota software upgrade about a year ago. You can say 'black' and it recognizes 'white'. Siri on my iPhone is super reliable. Why cant Toyota do the same. Voice recognition on my 2016 Ford F-150 is great. Best thing about Toyota is longevity and reliability. Much better resale value in later years. Very seldom is there ever a reason to even visit the dealer.

Bluetooth and map issue
I loved my 2015 Toyota Highlander AWD for the most part. I have it since November 2014. It is stylish. Performance and reliability is solid. I love all the electronic safety features it has. Adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and alerts, ..etc. The brake is soft and it does take a few seconds more than I expected to accelerate when I floored the gas pedal. But that's not a deal breaker for me. How often do one have to floor the gas pedal except in an emergency situation to avoid getting hit. The car is very comfortable except for the third row seats, which I think are meant for kids with short legs. A full gowned up adult or teenager will be uncomfortable sitting in the third row seats for a long trip. I have the 7 seaters version which includes two captain seats in the 2nd row. My biggest dislike for the 2015 highlander is the audio system/navigation system. Whenever the vehicle is approaching the mileage for scheduled maintenance, the navigation system tends to freeze up. You could be driving, expecting to get the next turn by turn direction, to only realize that the map has frozen up. If you are talking on your phone via the in-car audio system through Bluetooth, expect to get disconnected often. Once again the audio/navigation systems freezes at random and you lost your connection. There are no warning. You could be talking your heart off to only realizes that the other party has been disconnected and you are having a monologue with yourself. It's very frustrating. I need to contact my local Toyota Dealership about it. I wonder if any 2015 Toyota Highlander owner experience that issue.

Kinda regret buying Toyota Highlander
Noisy, difficult handling and terrible GPS! Display looks like 100 pixels max sometimes. I didn't take a good look at the styling of the rear exterior so stuck with a monsterous looking rear-ended vehicle. There are much better electronics and ports on SUVs 10K cheaper. There are several things I just can't like about it after driving a few thousand miles.

Technology challenged!!!!!
This car has the absolutely worst interface i have ever experienced. I had numerous lexus models and never had a problem with their electronics. I realize this is not a lexus but the Toyota brand has sunk to terrible lows in putting the Head unit ( navigation and entertainment) in this car. They ruin the entire experience of ownership. A car that does a reasonable job on comfort and economy falls down terribly when the navigation and entertainment system shuts down every fifteen mins. After ten shop visits and a final escalation to Toyota HQ, the answer was the unit is not completely compatible with the Apple iPhone. Really, not compatible with the most popular phone on the planet. I didn't believe it at first but i have come to believe them. After having been stranded many times due to navigation failures i gave up and sold the car. I move back to MB and i have never been happier. I hope someone in Toyota reads this and realizes they lost a customer for ever. I would never buy another vehicle from them.
