Navigation subscription! No Apple/android
I was all set to purchase the $37,000 XSE V6 Camry Until I realized the lack of phone support and, that Toyota will start subscription costs for scout navigation in 2024. I want to use Google maps or Waze. Toyota made this change in Avalon for 2019, they should reconsider the change in Camry also.

trunk open button too close to view button
1. On XLE with driver assist, the 360 view button is next to trunk opener button. I wonder if someone accidentally touching it may cause the trunk to open while driving. This is a usability flaw. 2. I would wish for the more European look of the Accord although I really like the active safety features found on Camry. 3. In California, there is no way to order driver assist pkg with navigation (integrated real navigation instead of the connected fake navigation), not even driver assist pkg with audio pkg without the panoramic roof. I see only in FL you may configure without the panoramic roof.

8speed trans problems and Toyota is tight lipped
This new 8 speed transmission is garbage and the dealers shrugged shoulders and tell you that nothing is wrong. But if you go online and Google "2018 Camry trans problems everyone is explaining the same issues I'm having. The car doesn't know what gear it wants to be in ! The RPMs flutter not knowing what gear to go in. The trans drops bad at rolling stops, acceleration is delayed at an speed rolling or stopped, when the accelerator reacts eventually your head snaps back. But to the dealers they thing this is the way it should drive..... absolutely disheartening! Garbage! Absolutely garbage! Wish I never purchased this car!

Absolutely awesome
After being a life long GM owner , I decided to give Toyota a try. I know of several people whom have Camery’s and love them. I am now too a Camry owner and absolutely love this car ! Superior handling, comfort and style. I have NO complaints. The Entune system works just fine with my IPhone XR. The apps all work as well. The headlights are a bit bright ( love that ) and have had no issues with oncoming traffic. The “ auto brights “ work flawless. The 8 speed transmission does take a bit of getting used to however, it’s great ! Fabulous gas mileage. Couldn’t be happier

Abnormal Throttle Response
The 4-cylinder in the 2018 Camry accelerates adequately, but there is a noticeable irregularity to the throttle response. To me the accelerator feel is very non-linear. If you need to accelerate lightly and press the right pedal down a minimal amount (maybe 20 percent) there is almost no engine response. However if you are not careful to continue pressing gently once you reach a certain throttle position the engine over responds and either revs too much and/or inadvertently downshifts a gear or two when you don't want it to. This is disappointing because drive-by-wire technology has been used in many mainstream vehicles for 15+ years now. Perhaps a software update could address this. Interestingly I drove a 2016 Camry rental a couple years back and did not notice this issue. I am hoping this is corrected for the 2019 model year or this may be a deal breaker for me.

GPS that goes nowhere
If you do not have a phone, some do not, you cannot get GPS. TRUE. Let me correct that, If you buy the top of the line and pay extra you can get GPS. I purchased a Hybrid. Was not told the Entune / GPS will not allow you to use the phone and GPS at the same time. Real convenient. Voice recognition is also the pits. Buy a Honda. This is my 3rd and last Toyota.

Nivagation Nightmare!
Entune constantly crashes. Keeping three apps always open on your phone to run the navigation system does not work. You still have to search by typing the address into the car unit. Scout maps can’t even get you to the closest grocery store. As the customer you are 100% responsible for making sure your phone will even work with the system. Don’t leave the dealership until they have your phone working with the unit as advertised. It will not work with an i-phone. The new transmission fails to respond in crucial lane change situations. I would not buy it based on

Gained looks, lost brains
My gf and I rented an SE in Atl for 4 days. Here are some pros and cons of this vehicle. To start, it's a sharp looking car; aggressive lines, low, and large wheels make this stand out. Further, the handling is not your typical Camry as they changed the rear suspension to double wishbone. It handles like an older E60 5 series; very well planted but supple on the highway. Speaking of highway, the mpg is ridiculous. At 75mpg I was averaging 42 to the gallon. Over the course of our trip we drove around 100 miles. To refill before returning cost me a whopping $9. Impressive. The Cons are big however. The transmission needs an office space printer style beating. The 8 speed hunts for gears like an old basset hound whose lost her smell. There's a sport mode with paddle shifters, but they may as well have been developed by Fisher Price. A long 1 second pause between shifts happens before the tranny decides to act. Especially from a dead stop, the delay is maddening. My gf's head was constantly hitting the back of the headrest from the jerkiness. If your in sport mode and you don't pull the paddle, it goes into auto immediately. Moreover, the engine is chintzy and harsh. It whines when pushed above 3k. The entertainment system left a lot to be desired as well. Developed in house, its touch interface was slow and the layout was wonky. So in summary, the new 2018 Camry is kinda like the old Pontiac Fiero. Great looks but underpowered, a terrible transmission (the same shared with the new Tacomas that drivers also hate), and cheap tech on the inside. Stay far away from this one for now.

Needs bugs worked out.
I purchased a 2018 Toyota Camry new, and it was a huge mistake. I previously had a 2014 Camry and should have never got rid of it, the 2014 never gave me a problem, and was great. The 2018 Camry, the sunroof squeaks and rattles. the motor is burning anti freeze (reservoir is always low) tires can easily pop when hit a pot hole, lights come on the dash then go away. I tried trading it in, and it's worth nothing (10, 000) it sank in a few months. By far the worst car I ever own, and probably never own another Toyota after this one.

Great Car
I have owned my 2018 Camry LE for seven months and have reached the 7,000 mile mark. I wanted to wait a few months before writing a review. This is my first Toyota product. I drove Honda Accords for the past 25 years. When it came time to trade I extensively tested the 2018 Accord. I have concerns about the turbo engine. I also found the driving position to be uncomfortable for me. I realized I probably needed to make a change and tested the Camry. I was pleasantly surprised. After seven months I have come to appreciate the Camry even more. The car handles well. I like the change in suspension for 2018. I did not test previous editions, but read reviews. The Camry equals the Honda in handling. I was a little anxious about the transmission after reading multiple reviews, however I have found the transmission to be smooth and accommodating when I need to accelerate. The Camry is comfortable. I greatly appreciate the driver's seat. I have taken the car on a couple of long trips and have had no discomfort. The audio speakers are good, however the entune system leaves a lot to be desired. It is cumbersome to use and is not reliable. It crashes often. I seldom use it anymore. I have successfully used the Scout Navigation, however it too is a lot of trouble to set up. I have to connect my phone to the car. The bluetooth works well and I am able to use my ipod with the system without any trouble. Overall, I recommend the Camry. The only drawback is the infotainment, otherwise it is a great car at a great price. This is an update at 20,000 miles. The jump in miles is related to several very long rode trips over the summer. The car was extremely comfortable, quiet, and smooth during the long drives. I experienced no back pain even though I was in the car for long periods of time. This has not always been the case with other models I have owned. My highway millage was consistently at 45 mph on the highway. I used the navigation often in cities I was visiting with no problems. I purchased a higher grade cell phone at mid summer and have eliminated the crashes of the entune system. I have not had one crash since integrating a better phone. I have improved my overall rating of the car.

Don't buy or lease this car
I wish I could have something nice to say about this care but it is a lemon. Only good thing is I leased and didn't buy. The stereo system is garbage. Have to do all sorts of gyrations to get it to work most the time. From a stop to acceleration the care is jumpy. On the freeway if you are going say 45 and then need to get into a new lane quickly there is a noticeable pause before the car accelerates...this is dangerous. Toyota failed on this one.

2 Years later
Traded 2011 with 52k miles. 2018 is more solid, quieter, better acceleration and features. There is a little engine noise during acceleration but hey it sounds great! The seats are great at support and the car is vault quiet. My old 2011 was the same but man this new one is “great”! I buy Toyota’s because they perform, they last and no problems. 7 years on the 2011 and I only bought new tires! I am sure this one will not disappoint. Update...2 months later. Avg mpg 24 and that is from me punching and using sport option. 2 highway trips with upper 30’s. Quiet cruiser. Red xle and multiple comments about how beautiful the car looks. Seats adjust to anyone and JBL sounds great. Not fan of scout but use Waze....need app for that Toyota! Love the car. Update 2 years later....completed Apple CarPlay download. What a difference! Waze, etc makes the media system perfect. Only 8k miles because I retired and COVID-19 but the car has been great. My only issue....JBL woofer in rear deck went bad (buzzed for every song). Toyota replaced but buzzes still once in a while. Other than that issue smooth sailing in my 2018 Camry.

car has problem selecting the right gear. while I'm driving and i decelerate not to a complete stop and them i accelerate it take about 2 second to accelerate, the car struggle to select proper gear. and when it does accelerate the car has a rough fast start that it me the car to jump
GPS is DISAPPOINTING
Had I known I would have to plug my phone in to the car to get nothing more than a 2D GPS, I would never have bought the car. The GPS itself isn't user friendly.

UPDATED *BEST MIDSIZE SEDAN ON THE ROAD!!👍🏻👍🏻
My review didnt change! Great car! UPDATED: This is still the best midsized car on the road! I love the how u can quickly go from 0 to 60 and have a smooth luxurious ride! This car is a keeper! I will have this car for 10 years until the next best Camry comes out! FIRST REVIEW: I purchased my XSE last September. Coming from an 07 Camry SE V6. There simply is no comparison with the 301 HP and smooth drive this car has to offer; not to mention the technology it has. My car is fully loaded even has a CD player as I read a post from someone complaining about not having a CD player. The 8 generation Camry has outdone themselves 10x's over!! I can't say enough good things about this car other than you just have to drive one!!👍🏻

Sharp looking, in and out, many plastic hang on's
Really sharp looking, interior and exterior. There are way too many plastic 'air dams' front and rear, that don't work, just hung on the vehicle. Why didn't Toyota just open them up? Fast! Really quick acceleration, braking top notch, dynamic cruise control a real treat! Works better than I could have imagined. Nav okay too. Stereo super sounding, JBL system. 19" wheels very sharp in appearance and ride. Gas mileage great on the highway, not so good in the city. Think it is a bit overpriced, perhaps $5000.00 or so., but everythings high today. An addendum: After 12 months of owning this high-priced Camry, found the value has gone Down by $12,000.00. A thousand dollars a month, so, along with all that I don't care for in this vehicle, the staggering value drop is astounding.

2018 Camry XLE ANTIFREEZE SMELL
I was soo excited when I bought my brand new 2018 Camry XLE 4cly Nov 2017 for my bday. It is now March 2018 and I am having a little buyers remorse. I notice the following: Antifreeze odor after driving about 30 minutes. The drivers side windshield wiper blade does not stand up (to prevent issues in freezing weather/ice). The cheap interior paint on the console easily rubs off especially by the seat belt connector. The motor is very loud. Overall the car feels cheap/cheaply made!!!! I've been a Toyota buyer for years, but I am not satisfied with this purchase at all !!! Trade in time!!!

SE 2.5 Initial Review
I bought my new Camry on St.Paddy’s day and have since put on a 1,000 miles. First off, the vehicle is incredibly smooth and handles broken pavement very well. No issues with the transmission, as it shifts seamlessly. I know that looks are subjective, but I find the SE Camry to be a beautiful car. My overall vehicle mileage so far has been 38.4 MPG which I find to be impressive since it is not a hybrid. My wife is a SUV person, but loves to drive the car. The downside is no apple car play, but I knew that before I bought the car. I would recommend this car to anyone.

Most horrible Entertainment system and Bluetooth
I keep experiencing 2 problems regularly, which is daily. Toyota Entune system - 1. For the strangest of reasons, the songs from my USB does not play in the alphabetical order and I cannot understand its sorting order at all. I had put it in a specific order as I wanted to hear it that way. 2. Many a time, it suddenly stops playing a song and skips back to the beginning of playlist, when there is nothing wrong with the music file on the USB. If I were to come back to the song forcibly, it plays it fine. So cannot figure out why it skipped back to beginning. Bluetooth connectivity with my Phone - Almost everyday my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + fails to connect to the car on the first instance. I have to turn off and turn on the car to make it connect. I first thought it was due to cold weather this happened, though it should not be the case. But then even during warm weather, I keep seeing the "microphone is not connected" message and cannot use the calling buttons from the steering wheel or on the display. Only if I directly call from the phone, it plays it on the car audio system. I had a 2015 Toyota Sienna until last year and never had a problem at all with the bluetooth connectivity. This is most irritating and also creates problems because, I lose precious minutes in the morning when leaving to work just restarting the car and sometimes I realize this when I have traveled some distance and I have to wait to stop at a signal to restart the car. What is surprising is that I have not seen Toyota acknowledge this issue anywhere and has not made any attempt to fix the issues. I also have Chrysler Pacifica, I don't face any such problems with it

Transmission better
Bought April 1918 the Rudy flare 4 cyl ie model with the convenience . After few days the transmission was not very smooth. The gears were dancing around and down shifts were long. Went to dealer had 5k tire rotation and I notice they put 36 psi and also talk to tech about the tranny and was told I need to get used to the tranny and very gear was like a sensor and I needed to know how to adjust. Well I notice a big difference in the car and I believe that extra air in the tires really helped and started to listen to the car and started by not apply a hard pedal and going with the flow of the gears. I was going to dump this car in the beginning now it is fun to drive.

Awesome buy, Entune bad, but added CarPlay!
My car is the hybrid version. In the first 3,000 mi I have averaged 41.1 mpg, and that includes some pretty quick take-offs at times. Now that I am up to around 10,500 miles, the gas mileage I am seeing is around 39 mpg. It accelerates fairly well, not as fast as the V6, but with much better mpg. The car is comfortable and an exceptionally nice ride, wonderful inside and out. I have not driven or been a passenger in a car that rides better / more comfortable. Adaptive cruise, lane departure, 360 degree view are all exceptional. The only negative I can think of is the Entune system, Toyota has given in to market demands (forums/reviews) and added CarPlay. I am now a huge fan, other than they turned the system's home screen white (white background) which can be annoying. It is exceptionally painful to set up all of the accounts and linkages, and then have to use Scout GPS which I cannot say is bad, other than from what I found you have to enter mostly addresses rather than business names / types (e.g. gas stations). NOTE: The previous item is no longer the case, you can use CarPlay with Apple or Google maps, and no longer have to mess with Scout. You also have to have your phone plugged in to use it for CarPlay, defeating the purpose of the built-in wireless charging (this might be an Apple requirement, and not their issue). I am exceptionally happy that Toyota gave in on adding CarPlay, it turns my only negative on the car to a positive. I would most definitely buy this car again, and recommend it to my friends. I have also received more comments on this car with its beautiful black appearance that turns a sparkly blue-green in the sun than I did on my 2016 Subaru WRX STI, which is saying a lot.

2018 Camry is better, but not much
Our 2014 Camry SE got totaled, so we opted for a new Camry because of excellent financing. Overall, I'm quite happy with it. The main areas of improvement are the fuel economy and ride quality. It's much more composed over small bumps. The headlights are also much brighter (LEDs are great), and the adaptive cruise control is actually useful. Weak points to me are the transmission and infotainment system. The car is very sluggish to take off from stopped. After it gets going, downshifts are much better and acceleration is good. But it feels like there is a delay between pressing the gas and getting the car moving. Infotainment is incredibly weak, and this will be the reason Honda surpasses Toyota in sales. The apps are literally useless. Entune is floundering. The GPS feels like it's from 2006, and none of the other apps are anything I want to use. Overall, a great car hobbled by its in dash system and a sluggish torque converter off the line. Update: I have never once used any apps from Entune since purchasing the Camry. Toyota has removed Pandora which was the only potentially useful app, so I just use bluetooth to play Spotify which is fine. Other than that, the car has been great and we have had no issues. I removed a star for value since I have since compared to other new vehicles at a similar price point with more technology and features.

Camry's infotainment leaves much to be desired
Don't buy this car if you enjoy satellite radio. It is difficult and distracting from driving to use the radio, Entune system. Honda has a much simpler and user friendly interface. MPG is not what they say either. Addendum-if you listen to satellite radio, or use GPS, get the infotainment system that has Satellite radio capability, and GPS built in. Entune/Scout is an inferior product compared to Apple Car Play, and takes much effort to start, or switch stations. The quality of sound with the added satellite radio added is perfectly fine however, it just is distracting from driving using it. The car itself is comfortable and rides nicely. 2019 has Apple Car Play built in, and those purchasers will be much happier.

Love the New Design
I went to 6 Toyota Dealerships and finally found a Dealership who had the 2018 Camry LE that I wanted. I priced the 2018 Honda Accords and the features were not as sporty as the newly designed 2018 Camry. The Camry has, like a Honda Accord, a great reliability track record and are similar in many ways. I'm a creature of habit, owning 5 Camry's in the past, and decided to buy another Camry. I know I'll be in that car for many years to come and excited about the many safety features the new Camry has included in the price. My car insurance rates were a little lower because of the safety features. If the car drifts into another lane, the car monitor will beep and the the car gets back into its lane automatically. If I get too close to the car in front of me, the monitor will flash BRAKE and the car will automatically stop to avoid a collision. The ride is smoother than my trade in 2016 Camry LE. You can't go wrong buying a Camry....one of the most reliable cars on the road.

Wish I had waited for 2019 AppleCarplay
The radio controls were removed from the steering wheel to account for adaptive cruise control. Silly design. I use the radio constantly. I rarely use cruise. The USB ports are unreliable. The worst part about any Toyota is Entune and I really wish it wasn't forced on us. If Toyota doesn't want to provide a functional app suite, then why bother. We need a class action suit to get Toyota to give buyers the option to reject a nonworking system. Sad Toyota hasn't updated 2018 cars that have entune 3.0 premium and plus. I feel ripped off about the so-called entertainment system that doesn't function.
Don't bother. Buy a 2017 instead
The technology (PCS, LDA) is not ready for prime time. I've experienced LDA and had to shut it off permanently when an ambulance tried to get by - I went into another lane, and the car was pulling me back. PCS doesn't work when you want it to (eg. snowstorms) and more importantly, PCS can activate when you DON'T want it to. The manual lists three pages of when PCS doesn't work properly - 23 points alone as to when it will activate and it shouldn't. That's DANGEROUS. Secondly, the flashes on the dashboard to brake in a tight situation are very distracting when YOU are trying to control the vehicle to prevent a collision. Car is for teenagers/driver's ed newbies. Icy roads sign comes on at 37 degrees - not freezing. In the north, this flashing/beeping sign is on 5 months of the year. PCS can be temporarily disabled - but comes back on everytime you turn on the car. This is irritating if you do errands or have frequent stops in the car in a day. Dealer can't permanently disable PCS properly without dashboard telling you something is wrong with the computer. Driver beware.

XLE Black Leather dry dusty look, poor Lumbar adju
2018 XLE Camry Ruby Red, Black Leather. $28,077.13 out the door price. I rate the 2018 Camry engine noise/engine sound some where between a Flivver and a Chitty-Chitry-Bang-Bang. You can see the hood quivering at stop signs while at idle. I am satisfied with the power and acceleration of the car despite the noise. Transmission could be smoother, but is quiet and can not be heard, maybe because of engine and uncalled for road noise. The exterior metal is thin. Looking down the sides of the car you can see the metal change/ripples as it approaches the seems/joints. Shutting the Camry’s drivers side door you can see the panel vibrate/flex and I was worried about cracks forming in the paint, but the Toyota Service department told be it was thin for milage and the paint would be OK. And it does get good Milage in the central Florida area. driving in the Tampa Bay area I get about 33 mpg verified by calculations from the Optometer and the gas pump. And have gotten 42 mpg driving to St. Augustine including the drive through the Orlando area. If you like technology, you will NOT be very happy about the Entune system. I knew the Scout GPS was unreliable from all the reports I read before buying the car, so I bought a GPS with a bean bag that sits in the hole in front of the shifter and below the dash board. I haven’t even tried the Scout connected system, in fact I do not want to connect my iPhone usb to the Entune system. I do use the Blue tooth for Phone and Text using the Siri part of Entune. Phone seems to work all the time, text most of the time. I did find 3 apps that work marginally most the time with the Entune - They are Weather, Yelp, and Gas Prices. The Entune sound quality NOT impressive. The sound quality is somewhat better when you play Mp3s on a usb thumb drive, poor sound quality by blue tooth off the iPhone. (same music files on both) The Car will drop the grace note art when you put the Camry in gear, making you read text instead of briefly glancing at the Grace note icon. It may be an attempt to let you try out the collision Prevention system instead of looking at the road. Along with the numerous warning boxes that pop up on the screen, anything from ”you will be using your phone data plan” - to - “ when Safe and Legal to do so….” this Entune system is Toyotas attempt to maim and kill by distraction. Entune, controls do NOT function when the car is moving. Car parked: finding a folder, Album, Song no problem. Once the car is moving, pushing any of the screen buttons will take you to folder 1, track 1 on the usb thumb drive. The dealer upgraded the system but problem remains, finding a song, artist, or folder by voice is probably at best 50% effective. (even after doing the voice recognition) The automatic high beams works perfect. The “Auto” headlight setting and headlight controls are not up to the technology available. All sorts of alarms when headlights are on and engine off, other systems shut the lights off. Fortunately they let you turn the day running lights off on settings. The running lights, turn signals, and headlights are tacked on like they bought them at different times from e bay. The lighting scheme on the front of the car are disjointed and just plain ugly. Gigantic grey plastic grill with no option of fog lights, just a clump of unrelated lights stuck on each side above the grill. The Cruise controls works great with the exception it accelerates to fast when the only car in front leaves your lane -It makes you look like a jerk when there is someone signaling they want to enter your lane and and the Camry is nose up in acceleration, otherwise, when it has a preceding car radar locked onto it behaves well with cars entering/leaving your lane. On occasion the blind spot warning indicates ghost cars in the lane to the left. There are NO cars, but the light will come on, and sometimes stay on for miles. The dealer could not find any problems. Lane Keep Assist (LKA)- Florida lane makings are very thick layers of paint, sometimes with embedded rumble strips on them. The Lane Keep Assist will alarm at the same moment the tires are rumbling on the lane divider . This means the door panels, mirrors, etc. are well into the next lane, then the steering assist kicks in and oversteers putting the car on a quick trip across and into the opposite lane. I keep this off most of the time unless on wide interstate lanes - I don’t want to be surprised. The dealer could not find anything wrong with this or the settings either. LKA seems to be more of a cheap gimmick than a safety feature. I wonder how this is different that the advertised “keeps car centered in lane” as offered by other makers. fic. use it frequently, wish it would stay on after restarting the car. When I bought the car I put the car transmission button in the “Eco” mode, then wondered why the car A/C could not handle the Florida heat, noted that the system would not automatically turn on the A/C...

I want to like it but...
I am leasing a 2018 Toyota Camry SE w/2.5L 4-cyl. The sticker tag states fuel economy of 28 City & 39 Highway. The average is stated as 32. I am not a lead foot but this thing has not got any MPG above 28. In fact, it's more like 26-27 average. I am beyond disappointed with this vehicle. I will call the dealer up and try to change it. The main reason I got this was for the MPG. Not cool, Toyota.

Marcy Review
Poor transmission. Extremely slow acceleration. Very high RPM at low speeds.
SLOW RESPONSE-HORRIBLE BRAKINGS
I have the new 2018 Camry LE, 1200 miles in and the throttle response is horrible. You have to really press down on it to even get it going. The shifts are horrible and jerks a lot. Cruise control at 80mph and will jerk like crazy after 10 minutes, the 8 speed transmission might be to blame. The entertainment system is trash, Bluetooth will disconnect every 10 seconds, I was told this is due to Toyota pushing out the new 2018 too fast and not updating the intune system. The brake dust is crazy on this thing, 1 day of simple driving will create a huge brake dust mess. Brakes are ehhh ok but nothing like my 2017 Corolla. Wish I woul have waited for the 2019 Camry. Now I am stuck with this POS.

My Wheels bent easily when hitting a pothole
I have a 2019 Camry I just bought like 3 weeks ago. I was driving hit a pothole and it bent and cracked my rim so easy. I have hit potholes before with previous cars and never has this happened. Anyhow, I took it to the dealer and had to pay $680 to have it fixed. Makes me wonder what cheap material they using on our wheels! The Navigation is terrible! I hate that there are so many apps you need like CarPlay and Entune then scout OMG! It’s confusing.. The transmission lags big time! Don’t try to get in front of a fast car or you can end up in a wreck.. I really wish I can return it..

I have only owned my new Camry for about a week and have never gotten over 26 mpg whether driving in the city or the highway.
se ride toyota
The car doesn't handle bumps or depressions on the road. the fact that the car no longer has a cd player is a big issue and will prevent future purchase. No spare regular tire

Poor Car Stereo (JBL) and Blue Tooth
After owning 5 Camry's this one is a let down. CarMax could not fix any original issues (which I will discuss shortly) and delivered the vehicle without having the major recalls completed* So CarMax service is a separate issue. After three software up-dates and the safety correction for fuel lines this car still experiences two major issues. The JBL sound system rear speakers sound like they are blown. The 2nd dealer replaced the Navigation head and the problem remains. During normal use (radio) at 1/4~1/3 volume the rear speakers rattle and can not handle any bass. So we turned the bass down and they still rattle,. almost like the cones are blown. The Bluetooth function is terrible. Several iphones were tried and when connected get so much feedback it is impossible to talk with anyone hands free.

Toyota went overboard on the "sporty" design
The update (11/15/2019) first: The pre-collision system (PCS) activated three times during the first 1.5 years of ownership for no apparent reason. In one case it occurred on the freeway at 70 mph. The car went back to the dealer for repair, but they could find nothing. Toyota got involved, but in the end they decided to do nothing because they could not locate the problem. My feeling is that they at least could have replaced the sensors. I am very unhappy with their response to this potentially dangerous problem, and likely will not purchase a Toyota again. The original review shortly after purchase in July, 2018: Although a bit slow on acceleration, the car handles superbly. As usual, the Camry has the tightest turning radius in its class. City mileage is so-so, around 23-24 mpg, but the highway mileage is spectacular. Using cruise control at around 70 mph on the freeway, my mileage is around 50 mpg. (This is not based only on the control panel readout, but also on subsequent fill-ups at the gas station.) The main downside is Toyota's attempt to be sporty. It is a little difficult getting in and out of the car, and the driver's seat sits low relative to the hood. It also would be nice to have more headroom, as I come within 2 inches of the roof when I am sitting sufficiently high up to see most of the hood in front of me. The left and right sides of the front seats also curve up to sharply, especially if one's butt is not as narrow as one would like. I feel more comfortable in the front seats of my wife's 2017 Corolla than in my 2018 Camry.

Great car but with a hint of unpredictability....
I've owned this car since April 2018. Didn't test drive because I was in such a rush to buy it. Started out great until I noticed that transmission had issues. Traffic on freeways really emphasizes the issue. If I'm going at a steady speed and let go of the gas I can feel each downshift. Passing by cars on the streets is like a game with life and death. You're either going to go so fast you might hit the car in front of you, or the car refuses to accelerate (which I solve with a quick tap on the brake, then hit the gas). I almost rear ended someone once, but was able to hit the brakes just in time, and for some reason the Pre Collision Warning did not go off at all. When turning the corners and hitting the gas, there is a noticeable delay (~2 seconds) until the car realizes that you want it to speed up. ALSO as a warning to other owners and drivers --> if there ever is a time where the Camry's automatic braking system kicks in and brakes for you to avoid a crash, look out for any rattling sounds you hear after. This happened to mine, and when I gently tapped on the gas it literally sounded like the car was scraping the ground, inching so slowly. I was so scared I crawled the rest of the way home on the freeway (thank goodness there was traffic, otherwise I would have been pulled over). I'm taking mine to Longo to see if they can help me fix this, if not I'll consider trading this in even though it is being financed. I'm not down for playing games with my life. Every dealership I go to seems to not have heard of the three active recalls for this vehicle right now. My VIN is not included but I feel like it is. If you're skeptical of my experience go to the NHTSA website and look up this car. Some individuals actually got hurt because of the unanticipated acceleration and absence of airbag inflation! Aside from that I'm in love with the interior, simple and sleek. Road noise is not deafening, and manages most potholes great.

Run Away
Do not buy or lease this car if you are looking for reliable technology. I have a 2018 XLE Camry. The infotainment system is worse than a 1995 Garmin. Seriously, do not buy or lease this car if you expect reliable navigation or Bluetooth connectivity. You are forced to use Scout navigation. I have a note 9, previously had an S7 Edge. The navigation utilizes your phone by using an application called scout GPS. This app takes your phone over by always popping to the front if connected to the car. This is highly irritating if your are trying to start another app to play music or operate the phone in any way even if the car is stopped. It crashes and drains your battery as well. Not to mention, it will disconnect during your trips which can cause you to miss exits or streets. The Bluetooth is spotty too. There are times it will go into an infinite drop and connect loop until you either restart your phone or turn the car off and on. Also, I have issues where if someone accidentally dials you then hangs up immediately, but the car screen still registers the call, it can sometimes get stuck in a forever ringing noise that you cannot answer or decline. Even if you disconnect Bluetooth and remove your phone from the equation it will still continue to ring until the car is shut off and back on again. Good luck with restarting your car while your in the number one lane on the freeway or in a spot that isn't safe to pull over. The ring volume cannot be adjusted. This also prevents all other sounds or sources from working while stuck in infinite ring mode. Due to these issues, I will never purchase another Toyota. I've spoken with executives at Toyota and they were somewhat responsive but overall there isn't anything they can do. There is no plan to update the Entune system on previous models to use Android auto or apple play. You literally have to purchase a newer model car to get new technology. This is beyond frustrating as the software in this car is completely upgradeable by design. They are also aware of how terrible the Entune system is and admitted that most people don't like it. If you want better technology go buy a used 2005 Civic. It will operate with muss less frustration.

Ride in Style
I have seen some reviews about acceleration concerns with this vehicle. I have not had any issues with this car. Off the line in sport mode and using the paddle shifters, this car moves to the front of the line. Torque steer is noticeable especially if you turn off the traction control but it allows the transmission to work better. Very comfortable interior and for a Camry, it's definitely an upgrade for the midsize segment. I test drove a Accord 2.0 touring and did not get the same response as I got from the Camry. Not to mention that the fuel economy are identical in both and with a proven engine and drivetrain, the Camry was the obvious choice for me.

Very surprised and bought
I work at dealership that has Honda, Hyundai, NIssan and Toyota. I work in service at one of our stores which not Toyota. I was given this car a year ago to take home over a holiday weekend, and ended up purchasing it. I drive 80 miles a day to and from work an in a year have over 30k miles. I love this car, I have the SE with a sunroof. Drive me crazy I don’t have heated mirrors and the Entune system is not the best. I’m not a tech person and I see all the issues with CarPlay etc in the brand I work with. This car is fun to drive for what it is, handles and brakes well. I’m not looking to drive a computer, I wanted something that looked good and was fun while comfortable... I really have no complaints understanding what I bought.

Etunes avoid
Avoid Etunes radio in the car it sucks. If you live in a mountainous area or around a lot of trees takes almost 15 mins to download and loses reception constantly. Every time you turn the car off I have to download the radio and that is stupid. The way to go is Satellite radio I wish I won't have listened to the Salesperson saying how great it is. For the price I paid for the car it is the worst radio I have ever had. Has of July 2020 my opinion as not changed Etunes SUCKS!!!!

Totally Satisfied
I have the SE model with the upgraded package. Great car! Still getting compliments on it and it's been almost a year since purchase. I hate the Scout gps navigation app system and I miss having fog lamps and a CD player. Other than that ... no real complaints so far. It drives great. Part of me wishes I got the XSE model but I saved 5k on my SE so hey.

Camry XLE
My wife’s car as she’s smaller and shorter than myself. Gas mileage was an impressive 40mpg on a long trip. Heated seats and separated heaters are a plus. All sensors take time to use but we’re helpful. 10,000 mile oil changes and service by Toyota I am looking forward to. Reliability and value are the best attributes. Resale should be good but will probality never sell. Cons! Edmunds should mention a couple of items I would disagree with more. Getting into the car is not easy like dropping into a gocart. The front seats are NOT DESIGNED for any one tall with long legs. The leg support leaves a lot to be desired on a trip more than 2 hours. The Buick’s I’ve owned are much more comfortable and supportive when driving. When closing the door it sounds tinny and I understand there making them lighter but a Lacrosse is solid in comparison. The drivers wheel is too far away from your arms if you’re taller and have the seat is back farther. I’m only 5’-11”. The front wheel drive is not adequate for winter driving and AWD should have been an option earlier then 2019. The cruise control has a cancel button and it should be on and off as the cruise switches require too many steps and distraction while driving in my opinion. I’ve purchased 4 Camrys, 5 Buick's, a Previa, 5 GMC trucks, a Taurus the last 30 years. Most vehicles I handed down and have had over 200,000 miles that I maintained as my point of reference. Problems with uneven tire wear Tires cupping at 10,000 miles. Purchased new tires at 25,000 but all tires Rotated, balanced and alignment was perfect. Toyota and Bridgestone disavowed any responsibility. Road noise is noticeable. The body and suspension are minimally designed for weight which makes it a problem for noise and alignments. Not quiet the solid feel like a Buick. Toyota making cheaper cars with less warranty. The automatic high beams are a pleasure. The gas mileage in the winter is 33mpg. Goodyear Wealth-ready helped in the winter for driving but this is not a winter car unless you have AWD I believe. The retractable sky light has had several problems and would not get unless you want to pay for repairs every time you use it.

Traded my 2014 Lexus IS for a 2018 Camty Xle
I decided my Lexus IS was not a very practical for my current needs. I was planning on getting a Camry XSE V6 to replace the IS. After driving the XSE, I felt the ride was a little too harsh, so I drove the XLE V6. It rode great, and was very quick, but the dealer suggested that I try the 4 as well. I was very greatful that he suggested that, because although the 4 is not nearly as quick as the 6, it was actually .2 seconds faster 0 to 60 than the IS I was replacing. I currently have just over 33,000 miles on the Camry, and we are very happy with the car. We drove to Colorado from Wisconsin and got over 34mpg even though a lot of the trip has speed limits of 70 or 75 mph. It also has a lot of room for anything we need to take along on our road trips. The Camry is smooth, quiet, and very comfortable, and the back seat is very roomy. We have taken many road trips and enjoy having complete confidence and total comfort. I tend to trade cars every 3 or 4 years and at this point I am planning on replacing my 2015 with a new 2018 Camry this fall. The 2018 has been totally redesigned, and it looks great.

Toyota Camry SE by Dirtman
I had may new vehicle's over year's more than I have need Ford's chevy dodge on the dodge I learned real fast is that if you want to get Ram,ed buy two dodge 3500 HD trucks. So I owned five Camrys over the years and this is the best one I have ever had 42 miles per gallon, smooth ride and easy to drive and many safety features But if the most important thing in your life is your smart phone then the car is not for you. In my case phone's are not. So the best all round car ever.

Scout GPS
Be sure not to buy the scout GPS system, Needs a cell phone and eats data . Entire Scout GPS system and radio system suck. My vehicle is a 2018. Nothing has changed since my last review, the GPS system is still terrible. Other than the vehicle is outstanding. Also this is a 2018 Camry, not a 2017, please correct your information.

What a Disappointment the 2018 Camry has been
Where to start.....window stops going up after hitting a speed bump during rainy days. Think this might be due to moisture in the front doors. Squeaky doors now. Big knock in transmission when put in reverse. Transmission problems when accelerating and during cruise control. Entune... junk. That's all I have on that. I use my phone now and the FM radio if I'm lucky it works. Saw another post about noise at 40mph. I got that problem too. Squeaky breaks just started about a month ago. Dealership is no help. Door edge guards come off. Dealership tries to fix it but now I have paint chips on the edge of my doors. Mind you this is a 2018, 1 year old car. Toyota has cut so many corners they now produce a horrible product. Dont buy it!

Very Disappointing!
I was very disappointed when I test drove the 2018 Camry. I cannot believe there was no CD player! I would never buy another Camry again if they do not have cd players. I currently have a 2014 Camry XLE with a cd player and navigation and really like it. I see the 2018 as a huge downgrade from my 2014. In addition to the lack of a cd player the leather seats are very disappointing. The 2014 has nice soft real leather, the 2018 seats feel like cheap plastic. The 2014 navigation system is easy to use, the 2018 has to be paired with some stupid phone app. I do not understand how Toyota has fallen so far so fast. I would NEVER EVER buy a car without a cd player. I just read that the Altima has cd player in all its 2018 models. I guess its goodbye Toyota for me after 20 years of owning Toyotas!

Who’s surprised so many whiners today?
I’ve been driving 25 years anything and everything with wheels. I’ve had Honda Mitsubishi Chevys Fords Dodge etc.. all different makes and models. This 2018 Camry Se is hands down the nicest vehicle I’ve owned and driven to date. It handles tightly and smoothly. It has amazing safety features, and they all have been tested and actually work ! I’ve read online about the 8 speed trans having shifting problems. I’ve had 0 issues with it. ... 0... and have had 0 “shiftshock” issues it shifts the way it’s designed, to give the driver MAXIMUM gas mileage in city and traffic conditions. You can take it out of Eco mode if you want and it won’t search for the gears to keep fuel consumption low but make no mistake it’s doing it’s designed job.. to keep fuel consumption low by keeping the RPM’s low. I drive mainly rural and highway and it glides and has more than enough pep to get out of its own way, and pass other vehicles quickly. It’s like sitting in a cockpit of an airplane. Beautiful car and ride. Very happy with It. The infotainment is fine for me The biggest complaint I have on the interior is no heated seats in it. Atleast the 2018 Se model doesn’t . The car warms up so fast though it’s not even an issue really. There’s some road noise on certain types of pavement I’ve noticed subtle differences on occasion but I think it’s mainly New Jersey roads rather than the cars design. The trunk is very large and opens automatically when you hit the button which is nice when your hands are full. I love the auto headlights that switch to high and low beams on their own it’s an awesome feature. There’s no CD player and really who cares with the way we stream music through our phones now. Maybe if you want a CD player you would want a record player and 8 track deck along with a trailer to tow your dinosaur. 😂! It’s a great reliable good looking fun car. I recommend it. Happy hunting !
