TOYOTA QUALITY!! THE BEST REAL SUV!!!
The 4Runner is the best of the best in terms of a true off road SUV!! It has a super smooth ride and the styling is awesome. This is the best vehicle I've ever owned! I have just over 50K miles on it now and get 20+ MPG overall! Goes great in snow, sand, over large hills - and on the road! A must buy if you're looking for a great SUV!!!
Great purchase
I owned an 01 Pathfinder and was very happy with the car, but it was time to trade up. After reading as many reviews and going to as many sites as possible the only logical choice was a 4Runner. Well, after nearly two months of ownership I must say that I could not be happier. The 4Runner definitely has a better overall feel than my 01 Pathfinder and the 05 Pathfinder I looked at. The fit/finish is excellent. The material quality is high. It drives very well for a SUV (quite interior). Bumps on the road are absorbed like a sponge. I purchased the V8 and it is very quick. If you are looking into purchasing an SUV in this category the 4Runner requires serious consideration.

Car has had many repairs less than 5k mi
Bought new 2005 4Runner 12/5 drove it home and the front-end alignment was off. Has rattle nose in front-end suspension (yet to be resolved), had car back to dealer three times. Fan belts made squealing nose. Dealer said they were glazed and replaced them at 2k mi. At 4k mi. serpentine belt made loud clicking nose. Dealer replaced, said it had a cracked belt. 7k mi. transmission makes a creaking noise when shifting between drive and reverse. Dealer said the noise is normal. When parked on a hill it gets worse and sounds like grinding a 5 speed (it is an automatic transmission). This is my second 4Runner the 2002 I traded was a great car. 85k mi. The power antenna motor went. Sorry I traded it in.
Not the perfect SUV
While this was my 2nd 4Runner and vastly improved over the previous iteration I found it NOT TO BE WITHOUT PROBLEMS. The heater went down in the coldest time last winter and took two weeks for repair parts to be installed. An ongoing broken seal in the windshield reservoir had to be replaced 3 times and a recall for some other problem. The worst ongoing problem this car suffers from is if you drive with the sunroof and rear window open (the only way you can avoid severe wind buffeting) fumes from the exhaust enter the vehicle and it's disgusting to have to breath that in while you drive. Complaints to Toyota yielded no satisfaction. It's a REAL DESIGN FLAW that cannot be overcome!
The best and the most affordable SUV
I have driven quite few different SUVs. Toyota 4Runner is definitely the only SUV that offers affordability, comfort, safety, and absolute pleasure to drive. The interior is very well designed withall regularly used controls right at your reach. The trunk space is more than enough, especially with back seats folded. The exterior design is catchy and cozy so no matter whether you're a man or a woman driving you always look good in it and feel even better! As for driving performance during winter season, this car is just excellent, assuming you're a responsible and experienced driver. A very good buy -the best buy!
