Solid little car
Only 1,000 miles driven, but so far I have been very pleased. For 16K, car feels very solid, handles surprisingly well, and gets good gas mileage. Acceleration is about what would be expected. We looked at a lot of 5-dr hatches and the Astra just looked better/sportier than a lot of others and still delivers lots of space in a small package. Back seats have a fair amount of room. With mostly highway, but some stop and go city driving we have averaged 31.4 MPG the 1st 1000 miles driven. So far it has been a great little commuter.

Tight Fit
I couldnt wait for this car to come out however I am disapointed. I looked at the foor door, rides very well, handles good, plenty of pep. However I'm 6'0 and the front seat for me doesnt go back enough, I can't extend my leg all the way on the gas pedal, I would have to drive it with a crimped foot, sorry not in Jersey traffic. If you get the car make sure it's for driving up to two people, because when the front seats are all the way back they miss hitting the rear seats by inches.
Great car until
I bought the car with very few miles on it. I loved it until the end. My wife and I live just north of St. Paul in Minnesota. It was in June of 2016. We are on the way to Utah. I comment that this car really runs well and is fun to drive. I still felt that way as I set the cruise control at seventy miles an hour after getting on the interstate just outside of Sterling Colorado. One second later I hear a snap up front and the car just plain quit. After a number of phone calls the tow truck operator comes and tells me he thinks the timing belt broke. The car had less then 75000 miles on it. A few hours later I was the owner of a new used car bought in Sterling. I had owned 5 Saturns and this one up to then was the best one. GM did nothing for me. Timing belt broke and I was told since it was an interference engine it was most likely needing a total engine rebuild, or replacement. The dealer was the ford dealer in sterling. I got a focus. Over the next 6 plus months I found the car on the internet a couple of times with prices from $5000 down to $2700. They would not tell me what they did to fix it. I hope the buyer got a car that ran right. GM never did do anything to compensate me for the belt breaking and a GM will never be in my garage again. Move forward to Oct of 2020. Somebody in the neighborhood bought a saturn Astra. The car still looks good. Has many more miles on it then mine did. I still love the car. It ran good and treated me great other then the timing belt issue. I still have not gotten another GM car and NEVER will.

so many issues with this car
I purchased a 2008 saturn astra for the price of $26,000 plus warranty total for $31,000 and I have never in my life regreted something so much my first week with my car It had to have a major part replaced and i have had nothing but issues yet. all dealers close shortly after purchasing my car as i had purchased extras from that dealer they were void as they has closed down.I have never had such regret in my life there are a number of these cars around and I have had others have the same issues .When trying to purchase parts for my car they are nearly always unavailble and then i have to wait for 3-4 days if lucky If i could turn back time i would not buy this car it was not worth the $
