Great Car
Bought used as third car but drive it the most. Love the power, handling and reliability. Built for a guy. I'm 6'2"/ 240 lbs but have no problem getting in and out. Innovative features like cup holder folding down from dashboard. A smaller car with relatively big engine means it doesn't have to work too hard and has therefore held up well. Great value in used car market which is also a problem- probably have to drive into the ground because can't sell for anything- too bad great car.
1994 Pontiac Grand Am SE
The car is very odd to drive in general. The power steering preforms well, but does not, by any means, give you a one finger driving experience. The car is considered a compact vehicular, however, I find that it tends to corner as if it were a heavy, mid-size vehicular instead. The V6 model has the power to get up and go, that's for sure! But to tell you the truth, I would have bought the Grand Am Quad Four if I had a choice about it.
great auto
Give a good ride still,very comfordable seat,give a good ride,alot power still.
Laurens Grand AM
My Grand Am was perfect when I bought it. But then the speakers started squeaking, and the transmission had to be redone. Now, I need a new exhaust system, new struts because they leak, the serpentine belt is cracking and the gas tank has a huge leak in it. I've put almost the same amount into the car as what I paid for it.
Very reliable and peppy
This has been a very reliable car to date with mostly routine maintenance at expected times/mileage. Of note were the need to replace the EGR valve (sticking) at 40,000 mi, the flywheel (apparently coming apart) at 35,000 mi and the head gasket (leaking oil) at 50,000 mi. This car has the getup and go to pass big trucks on two-lane roads in short order. It handles very well (sport suspension package) and is comfortable for the long haul. The battry saver feature has saved me from a dead battery on several occasions. It is currently running very well and I have no complaints.
The horror
AltThough it's been over 3 years since I owned this car I had to warn others of its horrors. This was the worst, most unreliable car I have ever owned. I bought this car in 5/99 with 45k on it. I desperately needed a 2d car. I traded the car in in 10/99. In the 5 mos. I owned the car I put about 3k miles (mostly, it was in the shop) and $2500 worth of work into it before I decided to cut my losses. 1st, motor mounts went (not broken when I bought the car). 2d a/c went during the hottest summer in 10 years). Then power windows broke. Then a/c went again. Then the seats. Then the power steering. Then I traded it. Next up was the tranny.
A pretty darn good car
I bought this car with 27000 miles, now has over 100,000. Overall, it has been a good car and has been surprisingly reliable (of course regular preventive maintenance helps).

Reliable until it isnt
This was my 1st car and I went out of my way to baby it. Bought it at 55k and had no problems until about 75k. The biggest issue I had was that the clamp that keeps the battery charged while driving would loosen and my car would die when you I would come to a stop. This happened about 10 times and I took it to several mechanics that never could seem to figure it out, so the dealer charged $2k and got it done. Traded this thing in for $500 and felt like I ripped the dealer off.
