Reviewers seem confused on whether or not they think the Polestar 2 is beautiful. The ‘truth’ is that it’s one of the most attractive cars on the road today and will turn heads everywhere you go. The styling is unique, but does not scream, “I’m an EV!” I love the discrete badging that causes onlookers to scan the car like they’re admiring a work of art in a gallery. The interior and controls are simple and well thought out, except for the cup holder. Storage isn’t great, but it’s not terrible either. The hatchback, folding seats, and flip-up grocery organizer are as practical as it needs to get for a small car. And although the Polestar 2 is small, it’s certainly not light at ~4700 lbs. Yet it hustles its weight through turns admirably and always feels planted and nimble. Acceleration is forceful but smooth, and available instantly whenever you need it. Coming from a turbo 4 cylinder car will have you thinking you’re in a space ship. One pedal driving is perfectly executed and also adjustable. The ride is comfortable but firm and road/wind noise are not too obtrusive at highway speeds. So far range has been more than comfortable for me and the free Electrify America charging has been consistently easy and fast. My battery consumption averages 25-32 kWh/100 mi which is slightly more efficient than the EPA rating. I also charge at home on a 110V outlet which gives 25-40 miles range overnight. I plan to install a 220V outlet to fully charge the battery overnight. Some minor tech complaints involve the iPhone app disconnecting, or the Android system in the car occasionally loosing LTE connection and needing to be reset. The seat senses your weight and that’s what turns the car on, but I also wish there was a way to leave the car on without being in the seat. As for the quality of the car, I have only a few gripes with some minor rattles in the interior and the overuse of shiny black plastic and scratches easily. Still, this car feels more luxurious and better-built than my BMW, and in a delightfully different Scandinavian style.

Ok, I usually don't write reviews, but I'm also in Arizona and I saw the review regarding AC in the Polestar not being so great. I have had zero problems with the AC in my Polestar. Unfortunately, the person writing that review might have had an outlier. The car is beyond what my techy husband and I could have hoped. Some things I love about the car are the technology, the pickup, and the google assistant. It just looks slick. I get compliments on it all the time. I love this car! We purchased this car after test driving the BMW i4, which I must say was disappointing compared to the Polestar.

2022 Polestar 2 love at first sight

I was sold in about an hour of learning about this vehicle. There was a bit of influence with my well maintained 2017 330 getting serviced yet again..The simple and easy to use infotainment had me at “hello”. I already ask google questions using my google hub in the house, why not ask google questions in my car? Acceleration is more than sufficient. The one pedal drive takes a bit to find the most comfortable setting, but we are best friends now. I was concerned about the open glass roof for sun glare, I forgot that it was even a concern after the first ride home. I have yet to adjust the manual dampeners, it does ride a little stiff on the bumpy roads in my neighborhood. I was told I get one free adjustment from the service center. This car just makes sense, full electric, easy to drive, easy to enjoy the ride!

5000 trouble free miles 4 months into ownership. Love the Android OS. Great acceleration and handling. Don't need to pay attention to a center tablet with many sub-menus ala Tesla. Voice control and recognition is about flawless. Interior with Nappa leather is a great place to be. Performance pack allows you to manually adjust the Ohlins Dampers from comfort to track. Breaks on Performance pack are phenomenal, but rarely used as one peddle driving is what I use. Vivaldi browser and other apps keep coming, OTA performance upgrade will be available at a cost for those wanting a little more oomph on the dual motor. Price is good for what you get. Looks great.

Loved the car before 1 year service check

I have a polestar 2 2022 long range single battery with pilot plus bought brand new at the time. Initially I loved it the drive, the features. Until the 1 year mark the only issues I had was with the service stations. The communication with them was terrible and with customer service. I had bought warranties on everything and there was a bit of back and forth when I needed windshield and tire changed; eventually they honored my warranty. After the 1 year service I don't know what happened but we had so many issues with the IHU. We had the headlight system shut down on us, some ghost breaking, the black screen of death, our center tablet would turn off when driving. This all escalated and service center kept saying they couldn't recreate the issue. This escalated until the system didn't notify that the trunk had opened and we were reversing in our garage and the trunk dented. Polestar finallay switched out the IHU system but wouldn't repair the dent saying they couldn't recreate the issue. They sent our car back without a seatbelt latch for the passenger side seat so we drove back from the airport without a seatbelt. Since recieving it back we're having issues with a clicking noise from the front driver wheel, and the AC being on and blasted really loudly but not actually cooling. We're looking into Lemon law and buyback which is saddening because that first year I loved the car. But we've had so many issues - i think it has more to do with the service station IDK what they did. I would love to replace with another polestar that is working and has none of these issues but definately scared especially due to the safety issues. The headlight issue and ghostbreaking happened on the freeway.

Positives: Acceleration, Trim package with leather, handling all really nice . The car feel like a rocket on air . It is truly a superb driving car. Negatives : compartment space. It is a little spartan with little room to store stuff inside. It takes some getting used to. The iPad has some minor glitches. The two year battery America is nice if you can find a station with working chargers. And once that app is working it is a great bargain to charge there . The dealership was great and charge America customer service is also great .

Fun to drive but …

The app to unlock and set the environmental controls is glitchy, and works for me on average about half the time. More annoying however is the android system for radio/internet/phone/gps. The sirius xm stations display incorrectly. I might have the hits station tuned, but it displays 70s on 7 and names the song being played on “the blend”. It has been happening for the entire 3 weeks I’ve owned the car, with temporary fixes after a hard reset (requiring a completely new setup entering passwords again for google, polestar, spotify, etcetera). Shortly thereafter it goes back to it’s old broken ways. Today the gps couldn’t find the location. The polestar “space” (sort of like the storefront dealership similar to the tesla model) gave me the number to the local volvo dealer who put a polestar repair specialist on the line. My call apparently interrupted something way more important, as he seemed annoyed that he was asked to take my call. He said to just call the people on the “on call” service in the car. This connected me with several very nice representatives who were unable to help me. There were several because the calls kept cutting out. They were unable to help because the technique to reset the system didn’t work and they said the service rep at macdonald volvo, the one who had more important things to do, should have been the one to help me. This is a new car and it absolutely does not work as advertised. I would advise anyone to stay away until both the biugs and the customer service issues are fixed.

Handling is good, acceleration is great. Interior with Nappa Leather is nice. Google Android Automotive infotainment works well with Google Maps, Vivaldi Browser, Spotify, and voice commands. Good looking car. Range not bad, charging time not bad. Using around 35ish kWh/100 miles on average over 7000ish miles, including winter. Put Michelin X-Ice snow tires on for winter and it is the best snow car I have ever driven. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. A Tesla may look better on paper but I highly suggest test driving a 2 if you can...

We bought our 2021 Polestar 2 in summer of 2023 with 8000 miles on it. Its performed wonderfully and is a lot of fun to drive. Good tight turning radius with 360 viewing for grocery store parking lots. Low center of gravity for fun on mountain curves and on ramps. Silent and quick acceleration is deceptive, you thought you hit 65 but its actually 80. Energy cost is crazy cheap, 78 kwh battery but allowing for some slack at the ends you charge it with about 60kwh. At $.10/kwh thats $6 for 170 miles. All is not roses though, insurance is about 25% higher and the Harmon Kardon radio basically delivers music only through the dash speaker. Still its a keeper!

I have had my 2023 P2 for about a month now. I am coming from a 4 cylinder VW, so this is a bit of a change. I love driving this car. It reminds me of driving a BMW M3. This acceleration is so gratifying. I keep my steering on firm and I feel that it handles so gracefully. I choose the P2 over the competition because it’s styling as well as it’s beautiful interior. I charge at home with a 220 charger that I had installed and I am very satisfied with it

Acceleration is great. People turn heads. Electric is roughly half the cost of gas with home charging 90% of the time. Although at some point the battery has to be replaced. Have over three thousand miles and no problems. Not a lot of room in the back seat. Rear seats fold down lots of room for hauling stuff. App is not up and running yet.

I test drove Ford’s Mach-e, Polestar 2, and VW’s ID.4 - each twice. Was waiting for Volvo’s C40 to become available for test drive, but anticipated arrival kept being pushed back. Same with the AWD version of ID.4 (some find it preferable). Chose to lease the Polestar with intention to purchase unless some tech breakthrough occurs. Driving it 1 1/2 years now and it’s a great car for me! Both commuting and road-trips are brand new and fun. I continue with conditional plans to purchase the perfect pre-owned car. We’ve sailed north to Montreal and down to South Carolina (plus many regional adventures. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend. Especially fun to drive with assertive fun for me, then use considerately conservative operation for my wonderful wife. Never need more cargo room than the fold-down seats allow. 🙂

Acceleration and driving dynamics are great. It is a very engaging sport sedan. It feels more refined than a S60. Interior is fine. It looks good, but wish for nicer cloth seats option, like the Volvo wool fabric. The biggest issue is quirky software and lack of reliability. Do your research. The car has significant bugs and the car will leave you stranded. It is happening way too frequently with OTA and TCAM issues,

Just got my Polestar 2 on New Years Day and I gotta say it’s really impressive. The handling is super smooth and the range is excellent. I’m new to EV and I like the simplicity of the control panel and dashboard. If I had to find a fault (which is hard) I’d say getting in and out of the car seats is a little hard but once in you feel like you’re in a cocoon.

Performance package is great, and the new software download added noticeable addition to mileage per charge. Fit and finish is way better than Tesla, and it looks a lot better as well. If you want to buy a car that doesn't look like all the rest, I would suggest a Polestar.

This is a driver’s car. The acceleration is a game changer, the steering and cornering is precise, the ride is silent, and the technology, while it had a bumpy start a couple of years ago is solidly ironed out and engaging now. I’ll admit, I did take a bit to adjust, and there are clear flaws like the cup holder and large intrusive center console - but they are far outweighed by the blinding bright spors

I’ve had my Polestar2 Performance for exactly 30 days now. I love the car, love the speed, love that nobody on the road knows what it is yet. What I don’t love is that my $70,000 vehicle doesn’t have leather. Sure the vinyl they used is interesting and durable, but in south Florida it doesn’t cool down as fast as leather, and the only way to get the ventilated seats was via the 4000$ leather option. Other than that, everything feels super tight, very modern. Tech works great, and the car is fast as hell! The second up front cup holder is in a stupid place and there is no center console storage, but none of it was a deal breaker. Very happy with my purchase.

It has less range than a long range Tesla M3 but better driving performance. It has a far nicer interior, but the screen is smaller and the software leaves something to be desired. Overall you’re really getting this car because it looks way nicer than a Tesla and doesn’t give Elon Musk any money.

My first impression was very similar to most people's. It looked nice, was fast, and handled well. But that's it. That's the only positives I can give this car. The range sucks, and during the winter it's even worse. I maybe got 100 miles of range during the winter. The interior sucks. Whatever this eco-friendly vegan fabric crap was made from is awful. The seats are comfortable, but gross to the touch. The dash is like a fine sandpaper, and everything else is super basic looking. I don't like to touch anything in my car that isn't a smooth surface, which is everything but the steering wheel, plastic around the shifter, and the center touchscreen. If leather was available at the time I was picking out a car, I would've taken it, but I couldn't wait for one to be ordered. The Harman Kardon speaker system is just lacking. It under performs. I have to turn my radio up to 70% or more to get the desired quality of sound. The visibility in this car is absolutely terrible. Whatever idiot that designed this car should be fired for thinking such a small back window was ok. The infotainment system is abysmal. It's one of the worst parts about this car, but not THE worst. Honestly, I can't stand it. The Bluetooth connection is CONSTANTLY messing up! It'll connect, but audio will not come out. I'll have to disconnect my music connection and reconnect multiple times before it starts playing audio. I'll have to press the center play/pause button multiple times for it to register and start playing music as well. The apps (waze in particular) constantly glitch and go out, sometimes even refusing to work. The system is constantly glitching, is ALWAYS lagging and slow to respond. The back-up camera constantly lags and messes up, even randomly shutting off and refusing to come back on with a message saying, "The rear camera isn't available at the moment." MULTIPLE times while driving, the entire infotainment system will just freeze up and not respond to anything at all. You're screwed at that point. The screen will also freeze upon first entering the car and refuse to display any graphics. This will require me to TAP THE SCREEN rapidly for about 30 seconds as the POLESTAR 2 logo slowly begins to appear. Once the logo fully displays, the screen will work as if nothing just happened. And it's not a game of patience. I've sat there and waited before. The screen stayed black until I tapped it a few times. I noticed a very dim POLESTAR 2 starting to appear and grow in brightness. I would wait, and nothing would happen. Tap, and the logo got brighter. So I continued to tap until the screen finally came on, and this has since been the only way to get the screen to display when this happens. The Digital Key is bad. For the longest time I kept having to reconnect it. It constantly just stops connecting to the car and won't allow me to remote start the AC. I've had to delete and redownload the app a few times due to this constant issue. It's not as bad as the other complaints, but still annoying enough to merit a complaint. The AC sucks as well. I'll get into the car in the middle of the day, and obviously it's a sauna in there. I'll try and crank the AC to full blast, but it takes the AC 30 seconds to a full minute to actually start blowing air. The ghost breaking I've seen people talk about is VERY REAL! I'll be driving down an empty street and my emergency breaking alert will randomly sound off. You'll feel the quickest break and release ever. This has also happened while at highspeed on the interstate with no one around. The absolute worst thing about this car is its VALUE. My Polestar 2 long range dual motor with Performance and plus packs came out to be around $65k after tax, tags, and title. Only a few months after my lease started I learned the cars depreciated by almost 50%. Look at the market now, and you'll see 2022 Polestar 2's with under 10k miles going for under $30k. What's my lease payoff after over 2 years (28 months)? It's over $45k. My Polestar 2 is valued at $27,000. Thank God I did not buy this vehicle. If I could get out of my lease without a penalty right now, I absolutely would. However, we know that's not the case, and I'm stuck in it for another 8 months, and that alone sucks REALLY bad. Talking about the cost of everything, let's talk about how BS the leasing process with Polestar Financial is. The one positive was they weren't marking the prices up for no reason when a lot of dealerships were doing this. That's nice, but the pay wasn't negotiable either. The justification was because since they weren't adjusting the price, neither could I. Right before signing the agreement, I learned I would not be able to claim the EV tax credit, because I legally did not own the car. However, even though I legally did not own the car, I would be forced to pay for the property tax on the car I legally did not own. So they take the tax credit for owning the car, but refuse the property tax for owning the car. That's BS to me. If I'm going to pay the property tax, I deserve the EV tax credit. But, at the time I needed the vehicle, and they weren't slapping on thousands of dollars of unnecessary mark-ups, so I thought, "What the hell? I'm gonna love this car! It's my first EV!" Boy was I wrong... ***Edmunds wanted an update to see if I have any different opinion on my Polestar 2*** 02/22/2025 - The answer is no... My Lease is up next month and I'm glad. The car is fast and handles well, and that's where all compliments end. The dealership tried to fix the infotainment screen by replacing it entirely. This only partially worked. My screen doesn't randomly reboot anymore, or require me to tap it rapidly to come on, but it still lags, it barely ever has signal, the Bluetooth connection is still garbage and has to be turned off and on multiple times to get audio, the AC is still really slow to start, and the Waze app is still pretty crappy. However, even though I barely have signal in the car, they FINALLY gave me android auto. Now I can plug my phone in (because they still can't do wireless android auto for some reason) and use my phone's Waze app flawlessly. Maybe the 2025 PS2 is better, but I'm not sticking around to find out.

This efficient machine is a delight to own and drive. It picks up and goes when you need it to do so. The car tablet offers a variety of apps so you are able to conveniently design your home and other screens. Charging is easy whether at home with a Level 2 or on the road and searching for Level 3 chargers. It is easy to attach charging cables and even easier to disconnect them with the button right next to the cable. The car has little room in the back seat; hence, I keep the back seat folded down, but the sleek design gets frequent comments from admirers.

Not suitable for Arizona

The AC in this car really sucks, so if you live in a hot climate, you will be disappointed. I have tried to have it serviced but was told there was a 3 week wait for parts and a 3 week wait for a loaner car. So I commute in 110 degree heat. I called Polestar customer support and got NO assistance whatsoever. So at least in Arizona, I would NOT buy this car. And I must say that their customer support sucks as well.

The car rides and handles well enough. Sadly, the cabin is seriously cramped for a tall driver. The center console is stupidly wide, the steering wheel doesn't have enough adjustment range, the seat back is a pain to get adjusted, the lumbar support isn't very comfortable... the entire time I have the cruise control on, I have to hover my foot above the pedal, which kind of defeats the purpose, because there literally is not enough room between the steering wheel and the center console to fit my leg. For the amount of money that this thing costs, I would expect so much more. Fortunately, it was only a rental for me. I put about 10 hours of driving in over the course of a day, and I couldn't wait to give it back. Maybe it just doesn't work for me because of my size, so if you're tiny, perhaps the story is different.

Lackluster and unnecessarily complicated

The car drives nice. The app does not work compared to Tesla. The car seat is incomfortable. The electronics in this Electric car clunky at best, and though everything is laid out simple it is unnecessarily complicated. The car the electronics and set up are not intuitive. You can use your phone as a key. But there is no way you can rely on your phone exclusively as a key. Half the time it doesn’t work and you are left not being able to trust or rely on its features . The app is clunky and ineffective and very disappointing. It has Apple CarPlay so that’s a good thing.

I drive the AWD version of the 2 with Nappa leather interior and 20" wheels. I love the acceleration, how it handles, and how comfortable the cabin is. The navigation on the instrument panel is superior in every way to having to look over to a center screen. One-pedal driving is well-engineered. Adaptive cruise control has none of the jerkiness I've experienced with other brands. Have had no issues finding fast chargers on trips to the beach and the mountains from my home in central NC. My wife and I enjoyed my vehicle so much, we bought her a RWD version that has also served us well. Looking forward to checking out the Polestar 3 and hoping that the brand can evolve beyond being the best-kept secret in EV's.

I have really thinking about getting one of these so I rented one on a business trip. The first car in the Hertz lot had an issue where the emergency break wouldn’t release. The gave me another one which seemed to work fine, although i could hear a weird clicking noise. Google Maps then wouldn’t work for 2 days until the system seem to reset itself. The key only opens the door half the time when I am standing right next to the car and trying to open the door. The apple car play requires a cord. The seat has a manual title option which is weird since there are seat memory buttons. The interiors seems to pick up dirt and stains really easily. There is an odd dark spot in the. Middle of the headlights like they aren’t aligned properly. THe back seat leg room is just ok and there is a hump on the back floor which is usually unnecessary for an electric car. The door sounds plastic when you close it and the door locking mechanism sounds cheep. How is this thing getting good reviews. I am really happy I didn’t order one as Tesla and Hyundai products are so much better! I have been wondering if Hertz now has a bunch of these because Polestar is dumping them on the market?

I just got my dual motor polestar 2 AWD two weeks ago. I really love the handling of my car and it is comparable to my former Legacy Spec B. I lease the car at the moment but will try to keep it after.

I had my polestar 2 foe 3 months now and I find the car very fun to drive! Make the mileage to 300 and it would be an amazing car to drive. I would definitely buy the vehicle again and recommend it to others!

I rented a Polestar 2 at SeaTac. Had it for 4 days and it was a horrible experience. The infotainment system is Google based, but there is no Android Auto. While you can connect your phone, the media player doesn't load your library so you have to always use your phone, while driving, to change songs. Several times I got in the car and it refused to sync with the key FOB, and one time while driving the mirrors wouldn't deploy. Lastly, the vehicle charger find app is woeful and directs you to nonexistent stations. Heat a horrible experience all around. Stay away from this car if you want an EV

Tesla model 2 is more spacious than the Polestar 2. Cabin offers limited space, specially for rear passengers. Harman Kardan sound offers poor sound quality. Polestar website is a disaster from ordering to delivery, and the dealership experience itself fell way short of what you expect from a luxury EV company. Infotainment system relies on Google and takes several touches to access desired functions. Lack of accessories such as the roof liner to reduce sunshine and heat.
