Fun smaller SUV
This is my first Mercedes and it’s fabulous. The GLB has spunk and all the bells and whistles. It rides well, good pick up, and super manageable size.

GLtripleB (Boxy Baby Benz)
The vehicle offers the fuel efficiency that I was looking for, though with a TriStar badge. It is fully utilitarian and spacious for my family of 4 for simply transportation and equipment. I'm digging the looks as it is a 'mini me' of our GLS 450. It has near the acoutremont of the 'BigBenz.' It does not have the heft nor occupies most of the parking space as does the BigBenz, which maskes it a pint sized zippy SportUtilityVagen.

Mercedes-like
When a Honda CRV Hybrid cost $42k suddenly the Mercedes GLB becomes a bit of a value. Don't expect an S class here, but it's still very nice. Some complain about a cheap interior but honestly, its not. Materials are above average and has nice fit and finish. You are best to find a low miles CPO (mine had 6k) for the best value because once you crest $50k, GLB is no longer worth the price. Best to look at GLC's at that point. People complain about the transmission but I really think the complainers never lived with a dual clutch before so it feels a lot different than a torque converted auto. It performs perfectly BTW in most situations. The only real gripe is the engine noise. It is unusually loud, similar to a diesel but more so from outside the car. Much of the noise is isolated from the cabin. Still, it makes good power, smooth and you can achieve mid 30mpgs on mixed daily drive. There is also excessive wind noise from the A-Pillar/Mirror area. Not sure if its just mine or if they are all like that. GLB handles exceptionally well and feels planted at highway speeds. The magic of this SUV is the large interior especially in the back seat. This vehicle is the perfect size, not to big and not to small. Is it built like an S class or even a C class? No, but its still worthy of the badge in my opinion. Overall, from looks, paint quality, performance, utility, GLB is exceptionally nice. Just stay in the low to mid $40s if you can. So far with 16k miles, its's been reliable with no issues.

Not Perfect
We've owned a Mercedes for the last 20 years and when we take our older C-240 in for service, the dealer comments that the newer models don't really compare to the older ones. I agree with him 100%. The 2021 GLB 250 is a nice vehicle, but the quality isn't quite as good as we've come to expect from Mercedes, and some of the comments about engine dependability are worrisome. The engine is noisy, and you can definitely hear the vehicle coming. Some of this might be due to the fact that there's no sound proofing on the engine hood. Just the same, our granddaughter's inexpensive Ford Escape is much quieter. The only problem we've had is with the engine noise and the dealer replaced the belt tensioner which really didn't make an improvement. Gas mileage is great, and the only other valid complaint we have about the vehicle is with the run flat tires. We hate them, and I'm sure the GLB would have a much better ride without them. Overall it's a decent vehicle, but people who rave about it, and think it's the best thing since apple pie, don't have much experience with Mercedes.
