Too little too much
The title best describes this car, and all other rivals. It is extremely annoying to spend a couple of months test-driving different brand small SUV choices, as they are all way overpriced and extremely underpowered. The Mazda cx-3 is no exception, especially in the base sport trim. What is amusing to me, and should be to anyone else who actually wants more for their money, is that engineers continuously build underpowered cars. This is the norm for small SUV's and the CX3'S rivals. The Ford Escape, Honda CRV, Kia Sportage, Volkswagen Tiguan, Chevy Equinox, and Jeep Compass. The Mazda cx-3 is being sold fairly well mostly because of its exterior styling, which is very modern compared to others. I owned the 2016 Mazda 3 and interior quality and craftsmanship, tho way above average, was lessened by using cheap materials, and by not offering better standards. Consumers need to demand more for their money. There is no reason at all, given other engine choices that are used in different models by each brand, that the standard for small SUVs should be a 200 horsepower engine. My 2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo has 200 horsepower and achieves 33 miles per gallon on the interstate. Why then I ask you,do we HAVE TO spend upwards of $30k and more to get WHAT SHOULD BE THE STANDARD IN AN SUV?The CX3 is a great looking car,but it's insulting to me,engineers though a paltry 2 h.p bump was even an idea on the "tweets list".148 hp makes this car sound like a sewing machine, and just doesn't justify an industry average, base msrp of $21 to $23k dollars.I for one,am tired of being ripped off.You should be too.

Junk
I like nothing about the car but the gas mileage is decent! I have no room in my console area, it takes me a lot of time to get it up to speed to get on highways, and I think now a gasket is blown a 2019 and I’m having engine problems under 60,000 miles ! It’s junk and I will never leave Honda vehicles again, first time in my life I decided to try something different and never again!

So far, I love this little SUV. So much fun to drive and great gas mileage. It seems to be well made. We'll see how it handles in the snow.

The Miata of Subcompact Crossovers
After driving virtually everything in the subcompact and compact SUV class, my wife liked this the best. Found a virtually new 2019 FWD Touring in Soul Red Crystal with Sunroof/BOSE package. This is her daily, suburban driver. No kids. This is a vehicle for a single person or couple. It drives and handles great -- very maneuverable and easy to park. Peppy. It looks great and has a premium interior. Android Auto as added for $400 and windows tinted for $200 -- problems solved.

209 Mazda CX3
This car is basically a 2 seater. The Mazda dealers in my area had no incentive to deal on a 2018 model. It was nowhere close to being the car I'm driving now, a 2012 Mazda.
