I'm leaving my original review below (followed by the stars) as I still believe and stand by everything I've written about this car in the past. Now, in 2020 with 101,000 miles on the clock I've changed the upper motor mount and had the rusted exhaust hanger rods replaced and the car has been trouble free as always. I'm a little remiss in saying that I recently committed to buying a Toyota FJ and will be selling the Mazda. Finding a buyer who wants a car with a 5 speed transmission is getting harder these days, but whoever scoops it up is going to get themselves one hellova great used car. The source of the PO171 lean code was found to be one of the plastic EVAP lines that's at the front of the engine. A new replacement couldn't be found, so a judicious application of sealant was applied to the outer sealing edge to prevent air from being ingested and the code hasn't returned in over a year. The engine is still running like new, with no oil consumption or other issues causing a loss of confidence in this fine powerplant. Two years ago I changed all of the cooling hoses and thermostat as a matter of routine maintenance, but to get at the PCV valve the plastic intake manifold needed to be removed since the valve is mounted to the engine block and can't be accessed any other way-I think that's a pretty poor design that came from the Ford camp. ***I'm not quite sure if I would have been as happy with a lower level of trim, but since my concern was having a dedicated onboard GPS system as opposed to an add-on unit I found myself having to purchase my Mazda 3 with the Grand Touring option package. I thought leather seats (heated) were a waste of money until I used them for a while, then i found the material quality and heat feature to be worth the cost. The upgraded Bose audio system is superb, out performing sound systems in many costlier cars I've been in. The four cylinder engine performs flawlessly and although it isn't the most powerful plant on the market it is adequate for the size of the Mazda 3, only being taxed when climbing long inclines. My car is equipped with the standard 5 speed manual transmission so I can't speak to how the 2.3L engine performs when backed by an automatic transmission. My only complaint about the powertrain is that the hydraulic clutch is too soft for my taste. Having other manual transmission cars with conventional and cable actuated clutches presents no problems for me, but after having owned my 3 since new in 2006 I STILL occasionally stall the car when coming off the clutch from a dead stop, making me feel like a newbie (which I certainly am not). Above all, the BEST feature of this car, and another one I thought would be insignificant, are the rain sensing windshield wipers. A friend had told me that this feature on his BMW seems to think faster than he does, actuating the wipers when a truck splashed him in traffic. I didn't quite believe this until it happened to me, and I'll be damned, those wipers really DO come on at high speed just as your brain tells you to hit the switch. Having this feature in an economy classed car is fantastic, and needless to say I've been spoiled now and want these wipers in every car I own from here on. I've driven 85,000 event free miles in my Mazda 3 with only oil changes, front struts and tire replacements in those miles. The front struts needed replacement around 50k along with the lower control arms, which I thought were worn out way too early. Shortly following those repairs the car needed rear brakes, and I changed the fine wire spark plugs at that time also because I feel weird letting them go to 100,000 miles. Recently the car needed lower control arms again, and something in the rear of the car is making a clunking noise over bumps that was traced to a worn sway bar mount. The car has developed a nasty habit of randomly setting a P0171 (lean fuel trim) code that I haven't been able to track down, but the car drives and performs well otherwise. Overall this car is a solid performer, handling and braking very nicely, and returning great gas mileage when driven on the highway. As with the other Asian cars in my household I'm dismayed to find the rubber products like engine mounts and suspension components wearing too quickly, but guess this is how money is saved in the long run by car companies. Buy a Mazda 3 and enjoy ease of parking, a decent hauling capacity, and the Zoom Zoom thrill of driving excitement while your money stays in your pocket as you avoid expensive repair costs.

I bought my 2006 Mazda3 Grand Touring Hatchback new when it first came out in '05 and drove it for about 78,000 miles before a guy lost control of his car on a highway, hit the driver side of my car causing the airbags to deploy and spinning us into a ditch. Because of the high safety standards, we were all able to walk away from the accident with minor injuries, when looking at my car, we should have been on stretchers. My car saved our lives. I loved this car and will be buying a new one just as soon as I can find one. They are so great that no one wants to part with theirs. I recommend this car to everyone. Fun to drive, safe, and reliable.

I have had this car for a year and a half now and I really like it a lot. It feels like I'm driving a sports car because of the pep and the great handling. It has 90k miles on it and in the time I've had it I haven't had to do anything other than regular maintenance. It is very reliable and I don't mind that it doesn't get great gas mileage (I average 25 - 28 mpg with a mix of city/highway) because it is so fun to drive. The sporty/luxury mix is perfect. In the snow and ice, one must be careful of the pep and be easy on the gas pedal when accelerating after stopping, but other than that, I've had no problems driving it in the snow.
first newer Mazda for me not bad at all.

I bought the mazda3 from a private seller for $5100 great car get a easy 4.2 out 5 from me stock suspension is comfy, i did install coilovers obviously ride became a bit stiffer but not bad. is been great.

This is my first Mazda that I have ever owned, and words cannot express how pleased I have been with it. I bought the car with 52,000 miles on it, and now have 180,000 miles. I have only had to put on one set of tires, 1 set of front rotors and 2 sets of front brake pads. Outside of that, just oil changes. This car has been very reliable in every aspect. I can honestly say that I don't have any complaints about it at all. I drive 120 miles round trip to work, and this car has been a joy. I avg 31-32 mpg with winter gas and 33-35 mpg with summer gas. I have been doing some early searching for my next car, and a newer Mazda 3 will definitely be on my list of vehicles to consider.

I bought one of these Mazda3 Grand Tour Sedan Manual 5-speed 2.3l a few days ago. I love the car I can average out my MPG to where I'm floating at a constant of 37.2. The acceleration on this car is fabulous, it flys through gears and really makes up for what you buy. The car looks like it doesn't have any power at all but let me tell ya my 1975 302 Mustang is nothing compared to how fast this car puts you in the back of your seat. The interior is amazing!! I love the blue and red afterglow dash lights and how you can adjust the brightness of all of them. The way the dash lights are set up give a great interior look. The transmission is strong and tight the gearbox as well I can switch through gears no problem. Little to no road noise, and of course you have the sun roof too. Overall I am kinda irritated that the din is only a single din however it's extremely easy to install an AUX to your din without having to buy aftermarket audio systems. The sound system in this car is crazy, I have a Bose sound system that really sounds like 10s however it's only x4 6.5s I'm not quite sure. I honestly haven't looked at them. Climate control is great, adjust from 60 to 90 and it really heats up the whole car no problem. The heated seats are one of my favorite features, I love how the front seats are extremely small I feel tight safe and compact in this car. I have more than enough room or area to put my things in so I don't have to look around on the seat if I lost something. Great truck space, and the lights on these cars are very well put together for the 2006 year. HID, Fog lights, and honestly with my brights on I swear I could see a mile away. Now with all this great stuff I do have one downfall about the car which is my steering wheel. Once I hit about 65 to 70 mph it starts to shake which could be an alignment issue. However once you pass 74ish the wobble stops and you gain control again. I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a sporty fast car, or just a family daily commuter. This is the first Mazda I have ever owned, and I am blown away at what Mazda has done to this car. Good job.

Well, I bought this car brand new and wanted to run it until the wheels fell off. Goal could not be accomplished because someone smashed into it while it was parked. Anyways, this was a great little car. For the price, it was hard to beat. It was all the little things that made it seem so good. When I compare this to my dad's 2008 Chevrolet Impala, it is not even close. The quality of the materials, the fit of everything, the difference in how the doors and trunk sounded when used... Everything seemed so much better. The Impala had more room and power of course, but at a higher price point. As stated, I had 252k miles before losing this car, and everything about the powertrain still worked flawlessly. People are shocked when I told them the clutch and timing chain had never been replaced. I did have to change out the Front Control Arms, Wheel Bearings, a Thermostat, and had a bad wire that affected the ignition system. One negative about this car is that it seemed to eat headlight bulbs. I had to replace about four sets during my ownership and they are not easy to get to. It could be lack of skill on my part, but I never had much luck driving this in the snow. Might have been combination of bad tires and short wheelbase? Who knows. I'm writing this review Feb 2017, and if anybody is considering this generation of Mazda3, I give it a good recommendation. I am sad to lose it.

I prefer a standard shift, and so I really enjoy this car. It is the best car I have ever owned, considering it cost me $17k as an "economy car." Great value. Cargo capacity is impressive, comfort is very reasonable, although over time, chintzy interior materials and high maintenance bills disappoint. She eats tires and her tires are expensive; third set within 100k miles at $750 a set. Expensive also was the turn-signal switch replacement with "stealership" labor pricing, as well as a broken motor mount, and failed fuel injector. Downside is, maintenance adds up pretty substantially, IMO. You do pay for the sporty performance eventually. Great fun, versatile and reasonably practical.

Great pick up for a 2.0 engine Just love the standard transmission feature (have auto transmission). Handles great and the ride is reasonably comfortable. Am getting good gas mileage - almost always 27 - 31 combo city and hwy - 30+ hwy only. Roomy for a little sedan.

I needed a small hatchback, and of the ones I compared, liked this one the best (and the price was right). But after driving it a bit, we both were troubled by the blind spots; The window dividers make it difficult to see whats next to you or coming up. We've not had that problem with other cars. We are getting used to it, but its something for others to consider when purchasing this car.

I flip cars as a side job and have driven almost every car brand out there. last year I bought a 2006 mazda3 grand touring sedan for really cheap with the intention to sell it. After driving it home I decided to keep this car for myself. For an older 4cyl this car has impressive acceleration especially in 2nd and 3rd gear. I've put about 30,000 miles on this car in the last year and a half and have only had to do routine maintenance with the exception of the TCM (transmission control module), which is a common issue for the automatic version of this car. However this is a relatively easy repair and if you purchase a rebuilt tcm and do the repair yourself it will only cost around 300. The interior of this car is level with that of a luxury vehicle. The leather seats are good quality, mine have no rips or tears, the plastics seem to be good quality they don't break or fall apart like many other cars, all the buttons and electronics still work flawlessly, and it even has automatic windshield wipers. The speakers aren't the best and the navigation system is pretty outdated but thats to be expected from a 12 year old car. For its size the interior is pretty roomy. The car can comfortably hold 4 adults, and the trunk has plenty of storage. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable vehicle with a luxury interior that won't break the bank. You will not find anything like this car for this price. My only real complaints about this car are: the gas mileage ( I get about 25-27 combined) which I feel should be higher considering the size of the vehicle and the traction when driving in the rain or snow

Bought M3 back in May after trading 03 Civic EX Coupe. This is definitely the best compact out there due to the refined interior, impressive acceleration, and nimble handling. No other compact I've driven in this price range has the ability to "wow" me like the Mazda. My 5-speed Touring has leather, sunroof, 6-disc changer, and Sirius with an MSRP right at $20k. I've heard the factory tires do not last too long, but considering the way this car makes me want to drive, I can see why they do not last. Sure, the rear seat is small, but it is a compact. All in all, no regrets!

Recently bought the 2006 BMW 325 and was racking too many miles on it so I decided to get a little run around car. The goal was to get something fun to drive, cheap and good on gas. I test drove the new Civic, Mazda3 and the Corolla and the Mazda won hands down in style (Civic came close), handling and acceleration. It is by no means a cheap compact car. It has a solid feel and great build quality. The controls are very nicely laid out and the interior and exterior looks great and very sporty. I called this baby a Japanese version of the BMW 3 series. I am very pleased with it and glad that I got this over the Civic and the Corolla. And the warranty is better with 4 years/50K.

I have been in love the mazda 3 for years. So when I had my son, I decided to get rid of my trusty toyota pickup and buy an 06 mazda 3. I must say I am simple amazed still to this day 3 months later, It drives perfect, looks perfect, I just love this car, oh and the fuel economy is wonderful! I live in phoenix and go to LA quite often and I don't even have to fill up once - that's over 400 miles on one tank of gas... AWESOME!
I would buy another one!

After owning this car for 1 year here are my thoughts: 1)Fun to drive everyday 2)Not as much cargo room as you think 3)Breaks a lot! (been in the shop multiple times for bad shocks, replace belts, power steering pump, and many more parts) 4)Good gas mileage but could be better 5)That zoom zoom factor is addicting Simply put, every time I drive this car I fall in love with it a little bit more even though it has it flaws.

Excellent vehicle. Well built, reasonable room for four adults, reliable, economical, very responsive steering and excellent acceleration in a four cylinder auto (2.3L). Just plain fun to drive. Will buy another if it's possible to wear out this one. Zoom-Zoom!

Out of college was on a budget of 15k. Bought a 2006 Mazda 3 with 45k miles on it for 12k, 14k after financing and taxes. Bought the 2.3 version, and it has been an excellent car. Great pick up for a 4 cyl. Handling is amazing, easily equals the maxima i had to trade in. Gas mileage leaves something to be desired (i average about 25). leather is fake feeling, but hey, heated leather for a 14k car isn't bad. on board GPS is ok but outdated. Bose sound system is nice but not as good as i expected (again 14k). sun roof is a nice touch. lacks torque to put you back in your seat. if you are a looking for a great, reliable, go-kart like car to drive for under 16k, look for used mazda3.

We have torn two under guards off because of the low clearance on this vehicle. As a consequence we have gone with out this under guard and now see some pulleys & belts with wear & tear. My wife and 16 yr old really like it, me? I'm on the fence.

Entry level sport sedan that has all the options of BMW or Lexus, without the price or maintenance issues. Handles like a true sports car. Average 25 mpg with 30 hwy. Road noise is an issue but with proper tire choice you can reduce the noise. Super smooth gear box and clutch with outstanding disc brakes on all corners. The grand touring is a must as it has all options and is inexpensive. I don't believe in buying strip models as they are a dime a dozen and resale is poor. Mine is a 06 grand touring with 18,000 original miles. I paid 13.500 in n. California. Research your vehicle and then buy a lot of car for cheap.

I bought my Mazda 3 S Touring about 6 months ago and have the best driving experience since. By far the best looking interior of any car I looked at (including the Honda Civic and the Dodge Caliber). The 5 speed manual is very smooth. I don't think I have touched the radio once thanks to the steering wheel mounted radio buttons. If you are thinking about this car, just take it for a test drive and all questions will be answered. Zoom Zoom!

The exterior look of the car is about average for an economy car. I think its a tad nicer looking than the civic and corolla. I test drove all three, and walked away with Mazda as the clear front runner. I would imagine that a Civic will typically be more reliable way down the road than the 3, but we will find out. The 3 feels sturdy (corolla did not) and it has more get-go than the civic had. I was in a car accident(vs a Trailer truck) last winter and the car appears to have recovered nicely and I'm alive to talk about it. If you are looking for an economy car, give the 3 a shot.

Replaced my VW GTI with a MZ3 S hatchback. Was stunned by the test drive. MZ3 handled better than the GTI and was nearly as quick. Very nice interior for the money and a a real back seat with plenty of trunk space to spare. Mileage is also pretty good to unless you really bury your foot in the gas - which is easy to do with the 2.3 motor. Variable valve timing kicks in quickly and the car really takes off when you want it to. I can't imagine doing better with any other car in the $17K range. Fit and finish are exceptional and I suppose only time will tell as to reliability but the car has a great rep and it is built in Japan.

I've had a bushel of mazda's over the years and this is the best hatchback yet. So much fun to drive. Never been to the shop for more than tires. Plenty of power, better than 30 mpg average, a ton of room, wicked reliable.

This car is very fun to drive and has a lot of power to give when you need it. With its automatic transmission there's no worry, but also offers a "Slap stick" which allows you to choose gears for those quick 0-60 runs. The gauge clusters sharp looks, controls at your finger tips, and the feel of driving it is sure to please all drivers. Over all I give it a 10 out of 10, this car is sure not to disappoint. ZOOM- ZOOM.

I bought this car in January 2015 so I have now owned it for 2 years and feel it deserves a good review. I paid $3800 for it when it had 128000 miles. Now I have 154000 miles and haven't had many repairs at all. I had a transmission sensor that needed to be replaced which was only $40 and an o2 sensor that was only $20. Also had a strut mount break (aluminum which is known for breaking), which was partly my fault for going over railroad tracks too fast. It runs great and shifts good and has plenty of get up and go when you need it. Front row is very comfortable, rear seats are good once you get in, getting in and out of the back can be somewhat difficult. Overall great car and highly recommended!!

Bought this in July 06 to replace a gas guzzling Pathfinder. We had 1 Mazda before, an older Protege 5. This does not get the mileage the Pro 5 got (31/35), but that was also underpowered and the M3 has the bigger engine. We have the manual with the moonroof. I put an iPod module in it, and to my surprise you can run the iPod off the steering wheel. We drive a lot, and it's very comfortable on long rides. No road noise, handles great in good and bad weather (Good in New England snow too). If you're worried about safetly don't be. My wife has been hit 3 times and this car is rock solid, surprising for a small car. All in all, very very dependable sporty car. Buy one!

I bought my 3 Memorial Day Weekend and I couldn't be happier! I traded in an '03 Civic LX coupe and was looking for a 4 door that had that "sporty" look. I didn't like the look of the Civic sedan or the redesigned Jetta. I had a '97 626 and was already impressed with Mazda as a manufacturer. In my opinion the 3 will probably replace the Jetta as a sporty, powerful compact sedan. Quality parts, smooth, quick pickup in the 2.3, very attractive inside and out. The sport automatic is a great plus for moving in/out of traffic. I wanted a red car but did NOT want a light interior so the black w/red detail in the seats was another plus. The only con to consider is the rear leg room (tight for long legs).

I used to flip cars very often, had many faster cars. But i always looked up for economy also. This car comes with nice compromise for both. It's sporty, good on gas, has practical hatch and looks good. The main thing is that is very reliable. I'm getting close to 150k miles on this car and has been trouble free. Just tires, brakes, plugs and runs still strong. Have improved radio with navigation system and headlights with HID.
No regrets! Love this car!

After much research, I bought a Mazda3 hatch, LOVE it, decided to write a review since reviews helped me pick the 3. Comfortable ride, though can hear/feel road more than in some cars. 28mpg mixed driving, 36mpg highway on a recent 1,300 mile trip. Engine labored a bit going thru mountains, cruise control liked to rev 5mph at top of hils. Cruise control and audio controls on the steering wheel are great! Some reviews complain about the A/C--comfortable for the front seat, airflow to rear not as good but tolerable. (Change cabin air filter since this keeps the A/C at peak performance.) Nice hatch for extra cargo. Super 'compromise' for a racecar--sporty performance/handling, fun to drive!
Easily the best compact for the money

I fell in love with the car when it first came out, replacing the interesting Protege 5 with a more substantial car with a much beefier engine. The Mazda3 5-door brings fun, quality, and style to the compact market without sacrificing price and fuel economy too much. I tend to get 23-27MPG in the city with fairly aggressive acceleration. The seats in the 5-doors are a high quality cloth, with a great look and feel. I am tall at 6'2", and I fit comfortably in the driver seat. I even have it forward a click, and if I do not recline my seat too much, I can get a 6 foot person behind me. Much more room than my friend's 04 Jetta. Overall, it is a great car with features and quality to boot.

Purchased 7/06, someone hit me turning left in front of me 1 week ago. The complete front end was totaled. Luckily I made it out alive, and felt very lucky. I think this car saved my life. It wasn't a head on collision, but it was close enough that the air bags should've deployed (I thought). Maybe the severity of the crash controls them? One more thing. Going from a Camry to this car, I feel like I'm always having to fill up my tank, so it's hard for me to tell if I'm really getting good gas mileage. Adding the numbers at each fill up, I got about 3 miles under what manufacturer reports in city and 2 miles under on the hwy. Overall, I enjoyed it.

I purchased my new 06 Mazda3 i Touring in late May. I get roughly 28 miles per gallon with country driving to work few stop signs not many lights. The vehicle I have purchased is "fully loaded" with an automatic transmission. I believe the interior is nice along with the sporty look of the exterior. When I was in the market I wanted to purchase the s model which had most the options I wanted standard along with the 5 speed automatic; with the 3 i Touring model it has a 4 speed so not as good get up nor as good fuel economy but there were none in the area. The vehicle I bought was fully loaded with the same options I was looking for but you can tell the change from the 4 to 5 speed transmission.

I bought this car back in 2006 and the only real problem I have had is the tires.

After driving several of its competitors, the Mazda 3 easily stood out for me as the best. Suspension is tight, engine is smooth and loves to rev, auto transmission is quick and well-programmed, brakes are strong, and the interior is the best I've ever seen. Ergonomics are excellent; the driver can really feel like he or she is part of the car. Gorgeous styling, and the exhaust note is great. Gas mileage in the city could be better, but highway mileage is right up there with other compact sedans. Excellent build quality -- the 3 is built in Japan, and it shows. A very well-thought-out, fun, affordable sports compact.

I have had a very bad experience with my vehicle. I am only getting about 14- 18 miles per gallon ( supposed to be in the 24-36 range). I was given the run around and basically told that there was no problem with my vehicle.

A great small car. Fun to drive, always reliable. Totaled. Replaced by 2013 Mazda3 details of new car below. Still love the car.

With 12000 miles on our new Mazda, the engine locked up which sent us on a one month "Mazda doesn't want to sell us another car" misery. We found out that Ford builds the engine for our car. We also learned that the problem our car was having was a mystery for Mazda and Mazda engineering would direct our dealer as to what to do next and when. After one month of experimenting with our car and several threats from us that we would not accept the car unless the engine were replaced, Mazda replaced the head and gave us a 100000 mile engine/drive train warranty. If Mazda had been concerned about keeping us happy customers, they woulds have replaced the engine and had our car back to us in a week.

I do have to admit that this car, exceeded my expectations. I came from a 2003 Honda Accord and the Accord does not compare to this Mazda. The driving, handling, styling and fun factor for this car has been done well by Mazda. I've got 11,000 miles on this car, so I felt that now would be a decent time to put down a review. Among other compacts I would go with this vehicle. It also the best pick vehicle in its category. This rating is for a S-Grand Touring with Navigation model. I'm also getting 25-28 MPG, which is better than expected. Plus the paint does not chip like Honda and unlike Honda, I have had no squeaks or rattles. The interior's fit/finish is well done.

I bought my Mazda 3s in April 2006. About 3 months after I bought it, the brakes started squeaking, then about 5 months after I had it, the cd/time/temp display went out and I had to have it replaced, which took forever because they had to order the part; however it was under warranty. Also, be prepared to spend extra money for an oil change because it takes a special filter and oil that is an extra $20. The car does not handle well in snow or in hard rain. I really do like how the car drives and the way it looks, but I hope in the long run it will be a better car than it was this pass year.

I have 4000 miles now on my Mazda. The suspension or something creaks really bad and my brakes are very noisy. The A/C is very weak for Texas heat; takes forever to cool. It is a fun car but I need all the moans and groans checked out.

I bought a Mazda 3 in Winning Blue straight out of the showroom...all I can say is wow! It is a very "rich" looking car, but doesn't kill your wallet. I purchased mine for $21,000, tax and title included. It now has 15,000 miles on it and its been nothing but happy days. Just look around and you'll see that the Mazda 3 is at the head of its class in almost every category. What amazed me was that insurance was cheaper for my 06 Mazda than for a 06 Honda Civic, 05 VW Jetta, and a 06 Honda Accord. If you're looking for a sporty, sophisticated, and fun car the Mazda 3 is it!

I bought this car to keep the miles off my truck and save on gas. I'm really happy with my purchase. The car is nice to drive, handles well, and has pretty good performance for a four cylinder.

The Mazda 3 is a wonderful car. I was looking to purchase either the Mazda 3 or a Honda Civic. After testing both, there was no comparison. I got a 2006 Mazda 3 S Touring edition with 5 speed automatic transmission. I also decided to get the moon-roof/CD package which is well worth the extra dollars if you can afford it. The gas mileage has been great. I'm averaging right around 30 miles per gallon. This car is so much fun to drive no matter if you are on back-roads with no traffic, on the highway, or sitting in gridlock. The response time is very quick and the suspension is superb. It's neat to see other people turning their heads to look at my car.

I purchased a 3s Touring 4 door manual sedan, with leather and sunroof in winning blue. I absolutely love it; it handles better than any other car I test drove (Corolla, Civic, Jetta). The interior styling is far above average, due to the use of higher quality plastics and attention to composition/arrangement of controls. The car feels very sporty, looks sporty, and drives it too. The harder than usual suspension might be too rough for some, but no doubt is crucial to its better handling. I have no doubt that given its competition and price range, it is the best car in its class - superior handling, styling, and performance; I've heard it called the BMW of the compact class.

This is one sweet car. Well priced. Grand touring package comes with heated seats, xenon lights, sunroof, leather, etc.; basically everything. The transmission in the '06 was bumped up to 5 speed. Fit and finish are almost perfect. Styling in and out matches the great performance of the car. The 168hp engine is just fast enough to be fun but not unsafe. It is quick off the line and the smooth shifting make it both a pleasure and fun to drive.

This car is great in just about every aspect. I bought the car in Oct. of last year and I put on a a lot of miles. Around 100 miles a month. Since most of my driving is freeway miles, I get around 32mpg. On one tank of gas I average 420 miles for two days of driving. The car hugs the road like a true sports car and rounds corners as if on rails. I changed out the standard tires with Hankook low profiles. I actually get better gas mileage and improved performance. The interior space is about what I expected from a compact car. Interior design is very well laid out, spacious, and very nice. The sound system can rock the music with no problems. Large glovebox and trunk. I like the fold down seats.

The car is an amazing piece of machinery. I recently took a defensive driving course; the participants were other economy sedans. Out of all of them the Mazda3 performed the best. It stops on a dime and handles extremely well. I was the only driver that went through the entire four hour course without knocking over any cones. Best car I have ever owned.

This car has it all! It looks like an expensive European car. It is really fun to drive. The upholstery fabric, interior, and dashboard look great. I love the dashboard lights at night. Storage spaces are functional. Sound system great. It makes climbing hills a breeze. I did my homework purchasing this car. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

I cannot stop smiling. I drive from Lake Arrowhead down the hill 5 days a week and have never had so much fun doing so. Like many of my neighbors I bought a Subaru WRX (fast & good in the snow, but mediocre handling.) Test driving the Mazda3 pretty much sold me. My salesman took me on a 12 mile back road course with tons of turns to demo the cars ability and even left the A/C on so I could see how well it could take a hill. All in all I am highly impressed. I drove the Civic, GTI, RSX & TSX, TC, G6, Ion and none even came close to this thing. I'm hooked.
