I've had two mark VIII's in my life. I haven't had a big problem with either car. I had a 97 Lsc and a 94. My 94 i picked up for a 1000 and i literally have not had to replace anything besides brakes and tires.

The car is an absolute pleasure to drive, The engine packs a large punch when you step on the accelerator. With its 280-290 hoursepower it accelarates faster than a new Mustang GT. Many people look at is as an old man's car but when you drive it it's anything but=)

This is my first Mark that I have purchased. I would suggest this car to anyone looking for performance, value, and sporty. There are some issues to contend with such as the terrible headlights that burn the reflective material inside the lights, and the cracking of the buttons on the climate control. The only other complaint is finding parts for this car. (Thanks eBay) Other than those issues, this car has been reliable, fun to drive, and depending on your driving habits can be quite fuel efficient. (I have seen 30 mpg on a long highway ride!) The air suspension makes this car ride like a foreign car, and the power is just incredible.

The Mark VIII is definitely not without flaws, however it is a really great car. It has never left me stranded, repairs and maintenance are very affordable and fuel mileage is reasonable for a RWD V-8 coupe. Update 7/4/16: I have ran into some needed repairs as of late, but that is to be expected on a 22 year old car. Still a great, reliable, comfortable car. Update 1/7/17: I have parted ways with the Lincoln because the repairs needed outweighed the use left in the vehicle. It served me well for 2 1/2 years. The reality of these cars is they are a luxury car and they are now old, as such things will start to break. If you are keeping one long term I recommend changing over to a coilover suspension as the air ride is very expensive to keep up. I also recommend the J mod for the transmission which will improve the life of the transmission as well as shift points. Also I recommend joining the Lincoln Vs. Cadillac forum and the Lincoln Mark VIII enthusiast community on facebook as they will provide much needed advice and point you towards parts which grow more and more scarce. I loved my Mark VIII and I continue to search for another.

This was the Hot Rod of it day! Designed to compete with Lexus & Cadillac!! The Mark VIII is the best Lincoln made from 1993 thru 1998. It also has the 4 cam v8 which most police & State Patrol use! Great Car !!! Lincoln Should redesign & reproduce this auto!! Still getting 19+ mpg. A six speed tranny would help over the 4 speed! I wish I had a dozen of them!!

I purchased my Mark "off" lease with 36k miles on it and currently have 111k on the odometer. Before my 50k mile warranty expired I had the steering rack replaced, a right pwr. window motor replaced, a left door hinge, the fuel tank insulated, and the timing chains replaced! This baby cost LM some money! Since then the only problem (s) has been 2 alternators and a throttle body replaced. I also had the 1-2 tranny upgrade @ 75k and installed a "chip" at 106k! This is one of the best values around once you get over the quirks...I really use the power of the Mark here in Southern California.

Have had this auto. for 20+ years (15 in storage) have been driving daily - Runs - Rides great - Looks great - Maintenance Cost is somewhat hard to come by as is parts - seems like these cars are still increasing in value (dealer/private) if you can find one - vehicle running great - If you get one that is not ragged out and had PM the Mark VIII will run as per normal will be good to you - 22 year old car with 116,000 miles

Great Cars - Bring them back

I bought mine in pretty rough shape from a freind at work. Tranny bad, brakes pulled severly to right, a few interior quarks. But the price was right $1k. I put about $2k into it to make it right. It has been extremely reliable. Exceptionally comforable. Very safe with it's weight and dual airbags. Power is excellent. handling is great. All in all both my wife and I both fight over who's going to drive the Mark each day. It's 12 years old and we have 2 new cars to drive. We just love it! In fact, I recently bought a 93 so that we can each have our own. There are quarks in the Mark, but what car does not have quartks? I was never a Ford or Lincoln fan but now converted.

I bought this car when it was 4 years old. It was the first car that the men in my life had no influence over. My husband thought I loved small cars, boy was he wrong. I love, love this car! When I first bought it, everyone gave it double takes and now after all this time, guys stop in the parking lots asking if I am interested in selling it. 2 years ago I spent $2200 and had a beauty of a new paint job put on it because the orginal was peeling. It drives like a dream and really has great speed and turns on a dime.

I paid $1,900 for my MkVIII with 168k miles and its still very strong in all aspects. Had to repair the power windows ($40 in parts) Needs paint due to flaking clear coat, Needs a Water Pump but otherwise perfect. I cannot imagine why the retail is so low on this fantastic muscle car but Im thankful, which means I can buy another just for drag racing. I have made some mods to the exhaust which really makes it sound as powerful as it really is. This car is SOO MUCH FUN that I still grin and giggle every time I mash that gas pedal down and get sent back in my seat. What else can you buy car wise for under $2,000 that is soo much fun.

I have found that the ride and the handling are as good as it gets when it comes to suspensions. The engine is as much power as you can stand and the transmission will go into a performance mode and will chirp the tires at full throttle. I have not found any setbacks in this fine automobile, even the stereo is of the highest quality in sound. When Linclon built the Mark 8 they did there homework. I give it a 10 all accross the board.

It's a great car, I'm a 18 year old male and while I could ask for more, I wouldn't really expect to get it. This car is great, power, interior design (did I menition that the cup holder is deep and if the cup fits, you can actually go around a corner?), exterior design, power, and the looks on those punks in their mustang GT's as you wax them at the strip(you know, the "WTF?!?!? A Lincoln just killed me? that can't be right, it's a Lincoln and I have a sports car..." look). The one issue is the headlamps, quite frankly they are worthless. Fortunately, stock HID units from the 96 LSC are a direct replacement.

I've had my mark since it was 6 months old. It has been flawless in dependability. This car looks great and has and powerful 4.6l 32 valve V8 under the hood. This car really moves when you put the petal to the metal. Plus, if you are light on the gas petal it gets 20 + mpg riding around in town.

I LOVE MY LINCOLN , I LOVE THE SPORTY LOOKS AND THE SPORTY GRAWL OF THE ENGINE WHEN I'M PASSING OTHER CARS. THE CAR IS NINE YEARS OLD NOW AND IT WAS NOT GARAGED KEPT BUT AFTER A BATH SHE STILLS SHINES AND LOOKS GREAT. ONE THING I DON'T LIKE ABOUT IT IS , IF SOMETHING BREAKS DOWN ON IT , IT'S NOT CHEEP TO FIX.

What a car! Bought this dream vehicle this past week. Dark red with gray leather interior. Rides like a dream, and has plenty of punch when you step on the gas! Total power at your finger tips! And a sun roof to boot! What a gem! Plan to get a lot of Summer "ROAD TRIPS" in my new ride!

I bought this car when it was 2 years old and had 30K miles on it. This is my second Mark. Had a VII before this. The ergonomics of the car are fantastic. And I thought the VII was fast. Doesn't hold a candle to the VII. In my estimation, as long as these cars are maintained properly (mine has been maintained by the dealer since new) they will last a long time. Mine is garage kept and just turned over 90K. Burns NO oil. Only draw back of the car is the interior size. Not really a comfortable 4-seater. The road feel of the car is great. I can hit a dime on the road and tell whether it's heads or tails.

I purchased my 94 Mark VIII after I had totalled my Camaro back in Sept. I must say that I am very happy with the power of the 4.6L DOHC motor under the hood. Its a Cobra Mustang in sheeps clothing :) So far everything has gone well except for brakes (but that is expected).

Owning this Mark viii now is fun, seeing all the extras it has compared to today’s technology shows a lot of great work 24 years ago. As it becomes older, it will be even more appreciated. My young daughter loves being out on Sunday drives in it, already calling it “ our back in the day car “ .

Have always loved Lincoln Marks, owned 2 MK IV's ('73 &'74) and since 2003, 2 Mk VIII's ('94 &'97), so obviously like them enough to keep for the past 18 years!!! The '94 is in near mint condition with only 59k miles and the '97 with 176k. I have ALWAYS had American rear drive, V8 coupes and these have been the very best of them with a classic '71 Buick Riviera being a close 2nd. My '94 is so cool that I'm almost afraid to park it for fear of door dings. It's beautiful, fast and still has that "new car smell" after 27 years. I do drive the '97 a lot though and it runs great after all these years. I can afford newer cars but can't bring myself to part with either of them or think of anything else that would give me much more satisfaction for the dollar. Guess I'm just "Old School" in a lot of ways.....fun cars!! Update 9/1/21: Still have my mint '94 and it;s just now nearing 60k. Finally parted with the '97 after 17+ yrs. of excellent service and still running great. It was my daily "driver" while I kept the '94 pristine and the miles low. I was always a fan of Mark Vlll's and wish they continued the line..... love these cars!!! Update 9/1/22: STILL have the '94, I'll probably keep it for life. Not much better bang for the buck out there. This is my old school "fun to drive" car. Just turning 61k mi. and in near mint condition.....win/win!
