Great SUV with the 3rd Row
We just got the RX 350L and could not be happier with it. The ride and comfort and quality are outstanding. We drove the Audi, Infinity, Accura and BMW over the past week and this was easily our favorite of the group and it came in lower than most when comparing similar packages. I also like the look a bit more than the RX 350 with the less slope backend. The base sound system also was a real pleasant surprise ... with some slight adjustments to the balance and bass it was really surprisingly great and I love good sound. The ride is very smooth and quiet with very comfortable seats and easy to use controls including the great safety technology package. To be fair, as another reviewer wrote, the 3rd row is tight, but we did not feel anywhere near as bad as the reviewer described. My wife 5'4" tried it out on our ride and said it was comfortable with the mid row seats still in a reasonable position. This would work for our needs of 2 hour or less drives with an extra ability to fit 1 or 2 more kids or shorter adults avoiding the need for a second vehicle on the trips. There is still nice storage behind the 3rd row too. For us, this was a great choice and we're really happy with nearly every aspect of the car and would recommend it to friends or family.

Love driving this SUV
Update after one year: I still LOVE driving this car. I’ve curbed” the right side wheels a couple of times and not sure why I’ve done this, my husband said maybe due to the extra length? I don’t know. I have had zero problems with my car. I do believe my next Lexus will be the larger GX since the granddaughters will be that much bigger. Other than wanting a third row of seats that a real person could sit in, I’d never sell this one. It’s a dream to drive. (Original Post) This is my 5th Lexus, 3rd RX, first RXL. We got the extended model and looked forward to being able to put our 5 year old twin granddaughters in the 3rd row when going for a short ride with the 7 of us for dinner. Nothing but complaints from the little ones in that 3rd seat. It’s fairly useless. Having said that, we are impressed with the extended cargo room and will be happy with having extra room that this model allows. So, that’s says it all regarding the third row. The rest of this vehicle is A number one tops in every other way. The handling is supurb. Comfortable on a long (12 hour) drive and comfortable and easy for short trips around town. The automatic braking has startled me 2 times now in parking lots when navigating into a space and the car detected a person or car and abruptedly stopped. I’ll take that on occasion as a trade off from accidentally bumping something and causing damage, but it will startle you. The visibility in this model seems better than my 2014 RX. I like the lane departure (vibrating) steering wheel, the rear cross traffic warning, the rear view camera and ADORE having the auto diming headlights! I did not know what a pain it was to dim lights until I did not have to do it any more. I’m spoiled. I compared the RLX to the GX. The GX was bigger and I loved the interior room better, but it felt more like driving a truck. The LX was the largest in the line and the cream of the crop, but alas, can not see spending nearly 100K fully loaded and not getting decent mileage at that. So, loving this RXL for now. Should I need that third row, I’ll either trade for a pre owned LX or step up to the GX in the future.

My first Lexus -- very happy
I've owned Toyotas for ten years now, but decided to trade my 2016 HIghlander for this Lexus 350L with the Premium Package. First off, let's get the touchy subject of the info/navigation display out of the way. Working your way through this thing is far from intuitive, and there is no touch screen -- you use a mouse-type device mounted on the console, right where your hand normally rests. But I have to say that, after taking a few days to get used to it, I actually prefer it. It's much easier, and safer, than reaching to fumble with a touchscreen while driving. In fact, you really don't have to take your eyes off the road. Ride is superb, I've had absolutely no problems with anything on the vehicle, and performance is more than adequate. The Sport Mode give you a little more response with a quicker transmission kick down when accelerating, probably at the cost of 1 MPG or so. I don't like the touch on-off with the interior light, which is right next to the sunglass holder on the overhead console. While getting or putting away my glasses I almost always inadvertently touch the light and it comes on -- don't even notice it in the daytime. I much prefer the conventional click on-off on the Toyota. Also, the front end has a "glass jaw" with no bumper protection. The plastic grill just sticks out there in front of everything. I managed to tap a pole in a parking lot and gave the grill a minor crack. I shudder to think what that will cost. And the analog clock is difficult to read in low light -- needs more contrast between the hands and face. But overall, the 350L is an excellent, well-engineered, well-built vehicle. After 3,500 miles I'm getting 23.5 MPG combined city/hwy. I would definitely buy again. UPDATE AFTER 28K MILES: I've gotten used to the lack of a touch screen and mouse-type control on the console. I haven't gotten used to the balky acceleration when the transmission is in the "normal" mode, but it does fine in the "sport" mode. You just can't lock it in, as every time you restart the car it resets to the "normal" mode. Not a single warranty issue. Vehicle looks awesome, and rides great. UPDATE TWO YEARS LATER at 35k miles: Vehicle hasn't had a single problem, and I now prefer the mouse control over the touch screen on my wife's Avalon.. As for my fears about front end protection, I managed to rear-end a BMW X3 at about 7 MPH. Impact occurred well above the BMW's "bumper" and into the tailgate, due to the Lexus' goofy front end design. But surprisingly there was more damage to the BMW than to my Lexus. Front end protection on the Lexus, though, is still designed more for looks than for practicality.

3rd row seat sucks
Do not buy if you're looking for a spacious 3rd row seat. there's barely any leg room, not even for a young toddler. even if you wanted to make space for the thrid row, the 2nd wouldn't have enough room... its just horrible how they did it..everything else is great!
Good car not impressive
The Lexus sales guy called it top luxury vehicle better than my Acura MDX I was trading in but the fact is the Acura was better. I should have known that Lexus cut corners with the cramp third row and lack of heated back seats along with the dated enform navigation.. not sure why Kia has appple play and Lexus doesn’t??? Gas mileage is bad 14 city 22 highway .. handling is ok. Ride is smooth and I kept me safe in a crash so it’s not all bad but don’t pay a premium for this one
