Love love love my Lexus!
This is my second Lexus SUV. Reliable. Purchased used with higher mileage. Have had no repair issues just basic maintenance like oil changes. My SUV is now 11 years old but looks new and rides like new. We get compliments frequently. Stylish and luxury at is best. Planning to buy my third Lexus SUV soon.
BUILT TO LAST
I bought a 14 year old 2003 Lexus GX 470. It had 119,000 miles. Previously I drove 2 Acura models, 2013 MDX and 2016 RDX, both wonderful vehicles. But this "older" GX has really impressed me. Upon buying it I knew I would replace "stuff." I did replace the battery after 6 or 7,000 miles. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, IT WAS THE ORIGINAL BATTERY ACCORDING TO THE DATE LEGEND ON TOP OF BATTERY. IVE PUT AN ADDITIONAL 130,000 MILES IN 2 YEARS. All of the additional servicing has been maintenance based, fluid changes, 3 brake rotors, timing belt was done at 103,000 miles. It's incredibly reliable, durable, quiet and smooth on open highway. I'd buy another model with more updated safety and entertainment features in a minute. Finally I receive compliments all the time from others. Toyota and Lexus deserve a lot of credit with this truck. Cheers from Bucks County, Pa. I just replaced both front and rear tires. The mileage for my Firestone LE Destination 2 tires was excellent, just shy of 72,000 miles. Again, no other significant maintenance and I'm confident that trend continues

Exceeded our expectations
We have only owned it for a week, but we can't get enough of it! It is by far the most quality vehicle we ever owned, and blows away the 5 SUVs we've had in the past. It is such a smooth ride, the interior amenities are great. You truly feel "different" when you drive this car. Even though it is 3 years old, it looks and feels brand new. Sorry, I have to make this quick so I can go back and drive it somewhere... anywhere.
Comfy, reliable SUV
I've driven this SUV for over 6 years and its the best car I've owned. Service is excellent (especially the Naperville dealer) and the SUV has the best fit and finish of any car I've driven (including Mercedes and Porsche). It continues to drive smoothly after 85K miles. I hope to have it for 200K+.
nice truck
No maintenance problems. No noises. (Should a "truck" be this quiet?). Refined yet functional. Superb all round performance. Very happy with it.
Still driving at nearly 501,000 miles
This car was purchased with 65,000 miles on it and I have owned it since 2009. She is the most reliable and dependable vehicle I have ever had. Drives and rides like a dream and I will keep her and drive her until her body starts falling apart. I have only had to ever repair her alternator aside from normal wear and tear. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one.

FANTASTIC TRUCK
THE ONLY IMPROVEMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE 3RD. ROW SEATS. SHOULD HAVE FOLDED OUT OF THE WAY. I GET OVER 18MPG GOING 80MPH! NOT BAD FOR A BIG V-8 ALL WHEEL DRIVE.......
The car of all years : Lexus GX 470
I got this car 2003, GX470, nearly 10 years ago. It had 64,000 miles. Now, has 200100 miles. What is so surprising is that it still runs like a new car. It is very powerful car. I just drove 1450 miles from Brownsville Texas to Chicago, Illinois. It is very comfortable to drive and it is making me think to buy a new one in future. What a great car with less mechanical problems!

GREAT VEHICLE
This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. I am now hooked on Lexus quality. Vehicle is luxurious and is a great ride for such a large vehicle.
Nice, but could be better
Traded a Honda Pilot for the GX. Looks bigger than the Pilot, but its not on the inside, especially the 3rd row seat. Build quality is great. More like a truck than the Pilot, which I like-better 4 wheel drive system. Overall, very nice vehicle and I will buy a Lexus again.
First GX 470!
Purchased my first Lexus from my BFF; GX is 5 years old with 35K miles; interior is in excellent shape, has held up well to 2 kids. Love the comfort selection option, comfort- sport. I have yet to find anything I don't love about this vehicle. There is very little road noise; feature options are excellent; and the sunroof doesn't leak (like in other vehicles we've owned). The rumble seats take getting used to - but easy to pop-up or put-down.
A Near Perfect SUV
I love this truck!!! When I 1st saw the GX I was like I have to check this car out. I wasn't sold on the size at first because I wanted a large SUV, like an Escalade, Navigator or Yukon, but I couldn't resist the GX. It has the larger Suv's beat in Luxuary. IUt rides excellant, although it could have more horse power, come on Lexus designers, this SUV should not lag in that dept while beating the competition is other areas. Overall I love this truck, but my biggest complaint is that it can get pricy.
Another Lexus in the Family
Got this Lexus loaded with every option except the Lexus Link - heard there were problems with that!!! We hope to own this as long as we still own our LS which is a 93. I know Lexus can make cars that get good fuel economy - why does this only get 15 city and 18 highway.
Don't Believe The J.D. Power Report
This is the best SUV I had drive, I've test drive the MDX, ML320, FX45, before buying the GX470. This SUV is very smooth, quiet, and powerful, and the quality is the best compare to other SUV's company. Recently, I have checked the J.D. Power wed site about the GX470 rating, and I believe they have made a big mistake in rating this automobile or the people that do the evaulation did do it right! So, don't believe every thing you read or see.
Safety?
Got this GX-470 2003 back on 04/2003, fully loaded. Since then visited dealer once for turning signal light bulb (got replaced for free even after warranty expiration). Other than that - only scheduled maintenance. Never drove anything better than this (including x5/3.0-2007) before or after. Few days ago my daughter got hit by Civic into passenger side on a street (35 mph, at the time of impact even slower for both cars). My GX fell on driver's side, total loss. My girl landed on asphalt through drivers window under my GX, covered by broken glass, cut her left arm and elbow. Her passenger bumped her head. All bags in my GX are intact. WHAT IS SAFETY?
The TANK
I bought a 2003 Lexus GX 470 in 2016 that already had 215000 miles on it. I had all of the gaskets replaced, along with the front brakes, and this beauty is super smooth and safe. Its AWD and 4WD, though I just leave it in AWD. Smooth as silk ride and still has a glossy finish to the paint. Gorgeous Sand Gold color. I have taken it up hills on dirt roads where trucks had to go into 4 wheel drive, but I did not. Reliable, safe, and like a tank it just keeps going. I just watched the odometer turn 272000 miles today. I did have to put new tires on it last week. Love it. Update. At 291000 miles, I have had to replace the power steering box and shocks. The original estimate for the power steering works package was 2,800$, but I down-graded to a refurbished box for 1600$. New shocks were 1300$. Most of the expense was labor and taxes. Total was right near 3000$, but when you do not have a car payment, you do expect repair costs. Had to replace the original alternator at 298,000 miles at a cost of 400$. I just passed 300,000 miles about 2 weeks ago. I have now put over 85,000 miles on this vehicle in 8 years. I have a total of about 5000$ in repairs, which is not bad considering I only paid 2500$ for the car. Still rides, runs and looks great.

Not for sale - couldn’t be happier
2003 GX470 approaching 20 years and 400k miles. Bought new. Best of cars. We’ll maintained and costs about 2 car payments per year. Looking for new rear shocks to replace old. Happy camper!

Great vehicle to tow behind our motorhome
We purchased this vehicle specifically for a 4-wheel drive vehicle that we could tow 4-wheels down behind our diesel pusher. I had a drive-shaft disconnect installed usng an RVI2 brake system which have performed admirably for me after I got them "fixed" from what the original installer did. It is easy to tow and fairly quick to (un)hook up. The major problems I have had are with the connection from the coach wiring to that of the Lexus. As far as drivability is concerned it has been a great vehicle & I do admit I have put some money in it occasionally, nothing I have done was unreasonable in my estimation. For a 13 year old vehicle it is still reliable & a good drive.

Best of 3
I previously had a Navigator and a 2003 Range Rover. After major expensive problems with the RR, I wanted a SUV that was reliable and with the same luxury as the RR. I decided on the GX470 because I am previously a Lexus owner. So I know the quality and the performance of the Lexus. It's not as big as the full size SUV but it is not as small either. It was perfect for what I was looking for.
Best suv ever drive
Love it so much looks better the x5bmw or q5 audi and i came fron bmw fun club. Start to love lexus at the moment

Never thought I could *LOVE* an SUV!
I'm a confirmed sedan gal, so imagine my surprise at how much I LOVE this SUV!It's quiet (more quiet than my previous E320 sedan),luxurious, and great looking.I don't have the ML stereo or navigation system and don't miss either. It's not without weak points: the way the 3rd row seats fold and stow looks amateurish compared to integrated ones in the Expedition, and the "gate" door has taken some getting used to (especially since it opens away from the curb).Yes, it's expensive, however; Lexus reliability is a given and the service is 2nd to NONE.You can't say that about many car makers. You definitely get what you pay for with this vehicle.
Will buy another one
I love my Lexus and cannot think of owning any other vehicle. Toyota has a convert.
Love my first SUV
I moved from a Mercedes E class to an SUV. Bought this after looking at other mid-size SUVs (wanted a 3rd row). Came down to this and the Acura MDX. No comparison in the comfort, despite Acura's very high reviews. This drives more like a truck, but it is smooth as a Lincoln in there and VERY comfortable. Nearly silent on the hwy. Note: when the rear seats are folded up, there are definite blind spots, as they block the rear side windows, so be cautious.
First time Lexus buyer
My other vehicle is a Ford Explorer. There is absolutely no comparison at any level. This is the smoothest riding, most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven in and since it's a Toyota, reliability is key. I will never own any else.
Very Satisfied, Especially with SERVICE
Very Satisfied with this truck. Dealership service is better than anyone has the right to expect, although I've heard all Lexus dealerships not that great. Bought mine from McGrath Lexus- Westmont. Build quality top notch. I will always be a Lexus brand buyer from now on!
Love it!!!
I traded in my RX300, because I needed more room, and a third row seat...I really liked my RX, and thought it drove very well...I never expected to like the GX 470 as much as I do...it is head and shoulders better than the RX, I love driving it, and get lots of second looks, have caught more people than I can count peering in, and commenting how nice it was. Drives like a dream...can't think of any other SUV on the road that I would prefer...Love the LX, and this is just a smaller version.
Luxury Ute
Talk about a luxury vehicle! This is the first Lexus I've owned and I'm very impressed. I like the fact that there was only 3 main options to this and everything else was standard. It made shopping for this so much easier.
Superb Vehicle
I just love this truck! It rides so smooth my husband calls it the airplane. No turbulence of course! The design is beautiful. It handles the road like a vehicle should. The V8 engine is great. The take off is fast and smooth.
Lexus BX470
I LOVE IT! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT AND IT SITS NICE AND HIGH, SO YOU CAN SEE ALL AROUND
Review of Lexux 2003 GX 470
Excellent all the way around. Test drove every other competitor. including Avaitor, Sequoia, Escalade, Yukon, MDX, Mercedes, BMW & Volvo. Lexux wins hands down. Comfort, luxury, fit & finish, and most importantly, my wife loves it! She loves the driver's visibility, and the fact that it drives like a car. I can change the setting to "sport" ride, and enjoy driving it my way too. What a great compromise. She hated the clunkiness of the Escalade & Yukon, and loves the smooth shifting & total confidence of the safethy features & driveability. We will treasure this vehicle for years to come. Finally, an SUV we both love.
impressed
everything about the car is great. except that the size of the gas tank is too small so you often have to go to the gas station to fill up. it only averages 300 miles on a full tank. also, it lacks power. car is very smooth and rides nice but it does not have enough acceleration for 4.7 liter 8 cyliner vehicle. other than this, everything is great and i enjoy driving the car.
Boring SUV
Very boring SUV. Its quiet and smooth and reliable but not for people who like to drive. And its good offroad! And without KDSS (additional option) the truck isn't very stable. And to top it off it loses a lot of market value.
awesome
Of all the cars and SUV's I have ever had in the 32 years I have been driving, this car is the ultimate. I have had no trouble whatsover with it. It is fast off the line and rides wonderful! I love the exterior design and the original rear end design, looks so sporty! To think the BMW suv is 15,000.00 more that this!
A Great Experience
I just got rid of my Acura MDX Touring. Paid over MSRP for it in 2001. The GX's interior is far superior to the MDX. The GX includes full sized lighted running boards, a full sized spare Bridgestone Dueller tires. Wood and leather steering wheel is std. The Dealer was very fair, and gave a nice discount. Purchased a std model with a rear spoiler, two seat for $3.5 K more than an MDX. This is a great SUV, but don't try to follow me off-road in your MDX, you wouldn't make it.
Lexus 470 GX
Very smooth and quiet ride for an SUV. Perhaps the most sylish SUV on the road to date. Audio system is superb in this vehicle. Navigation system is very helpful especially in unfamiliar urban setteings.
lexus gx 470- this female loves it!
The smooth comfort of the ride , especially for its size, is a huge reason I'm driving this SUV. It's comfortable, luxorious and versatile. It's everything we want in a family vehichle for the four of us, 3 of whom are big, tall guys who often are transporting sports gear.
so far so good
Well our family just picked up the new GX470. so far i can say it is excellent. the ride is very smooth and the rear air suspension leveling system is fun to play with. we got it almost fully loaded, everything but the rear entertainment system. the dvd based navigation system is touch screen and makes it even more user friendly. the third row seat is a bit small for someone tall like me (6ft) but okay for small children riding. i really only have one problem with the car and that is that it is not offered with HID(High Intensity Discharge) lights. it would have made the car look even better.
Great LUV
Lexus GX 470 is a NICE Luxury Sports Utility. I have found no faults with it. Sure I got a few options I didn't need, but the resal value will be there for someone who does need them. Fantastic LUV!
I Love This Vehicle
This SUV is the best! The NAV system is awesome. Interior and exterior are flawless. I am so happy with my purchase!
Lexus GX470
Beautiful car, easy and comfortable to drive. Should have put in the back up camera and given additional color selections. I am sold on Lexus and if I traded it in, it would only to get anything new they add to the newer models. It is a beautiful vehicle.
Excellent Luxury SUV
This car has it all, and with Lexus great leasing program the cost is kept down. The only downside is the on board computer system, which requires a couple of hours of studying the manual to learn.
Great Car Overall
Almost bought a ML500, glad we didn't! Dealership experience was good -- no high pressure, only professional salesmanship. Car is REALLY comfortable fun to drive! Killer navi system -- voice input and touch screen features are awesome compare to ML500's little joy stick thingy. Not too cracy about the swing-out back door at first, but actually like it now since we only use the 3rd roll seat for 1 person (my teenage kid) and he uses the back door for access so that he doesn't have to mess with the 2nd roll seat.
great suv sport vehicile
Other than a little less space in the rear of vehicile, you get Lexus like comfort , power, and smoothness.A great value for the price and luxury the vehicile delivers.
An Excellent Vehicle
Our family just bought a brand new black GX 470 - fully loaded. We love it. The comfort is more than we could have ever asked for and the ride....you might as well be on a plane, it feels like you are flying.
Awesome
I had the RX300 before this, and to believe that the GX470 is twice the car is an understatement. It is truely an amazing car.
Great vehicle, good value.
Bought the GX after looking at the Cayenne and the BMW. Better deal for the money; quality is better. Ride is stiff over heavy bumps in the rear, but the ride and cabin quiet is typical Lexus excellent quality. Engine is adequate for the vehicle; interior appointments are high quality. The rear door looks goofy and is impractical, particularly when towing our trailer. Stereo is excellent, and the nav system is very well-designed and easy to use. I like the size of the shifter, but there should be more of a gate between D and 4. Overall it's a great vehicle; great size, good power, great quality.
GX 470 is awsome
I just purchased the GX and LOVE it. It is a mini LX with all the luxury and more. We purchased the fully loaded package with navigation and dvd, they are both wonderful! The car drives like a dream and you can actually park in a real parking spot with out a problem. LEXUS is one nice ride! It handles great. I don't know why anyone would choose the LX or any other luxury SUV. I tried to give the LX a shot, I just couldn't justify the 10K price difference for the same SUV that is only "inches" different. I also tried every other new and improved SUV on the market, the GX blows them all away....unless, of course, you don't need the luxury...then go for a truck.
Got A Good One
Worried about vibration problem, but test drive before taking delivery eliminated as an issue. First time Lexus buyer; currently own 2 BMWs. Almost bought X5, but quality issues steered me away. Glad I chose the GX470 - head and shoulders better than X5.
I made the right decision.
I love my GX. I reluctantly traded in my RX (which also was a great car) because I wanted a little larger vehicle. I am so glad I did. It drives like a dream. I highly recomend this vehicle.
Rock Solid
I've only had the vehicle one week but love it already. Build quality beyond excellent. Small features like lighted door handles (inside) everywhere are a great touch. Nav and integrated electronics very very good.
