I will focus on the only negatives I can find --- the dealer experience is sub par. They "lost" the 2nd key fob. A replacement is "being sent from Korea" but this was just unacceptable. Also, the check out process was a hours long wait. Emails to my salesperson (which were answered asap before I bought the car) seemed to take lower priority after I drove out of the lot. It is too bad that Kia made a car comparable to luxury vehicles (even the Porsche Panamera), but cannot deliver the dealer experience. I own an Optima (which has been an excellent car), but dread the idea of going to the dealer for maintenance, because they are just too rough around the edges. That said, the Stinger itself lives up to the hype and more. It is has amazing acceleration, handling, breaking and comfort. I get lots of admirers, with thumbs up signs from random passers by..... A couple of minor things.....Kia might consider a redesign of the Video screen which sticks up a bit awkwardly in the upper middle console. It still need to work on changing the display to emphasize the clock and radio station functions and not the GPS, but these are minor quibbles. I am also VERY happy with the Driver Assist package (which was loaded on the model I bought off the lot) and would have been something I might have skipped to save $. The blind spot detection and lane departure warnings can be customized to provide just enough sensitivity to assure protection, without annoying constant beeping for minor normal safe driving lane departures/changes. Also, I have been driving on Econ mode while sitting in traffic, and I'm fairly certain that it has enhanced my gas mileage.

Before anybody buys this car, they should know that, this is not a sports car, this is a sports sedan. This is not a luxury / premium car, this is a sports sedan. This is not a status defining car, this is just a sports sedan. And, Stinger does this job impeccably. When you shop for 50K car, you sure would have researched or test driven, audi, BMW, Merc or lexus. But you have to decide can you pass the above luxury brand dealers, and go to Kia dealer to buy this car. I did, and glad I did it. It has gorgeous looks.. Believe me, every day (yes, every day), people, either on traffic signals or in gas station or in parking lot, have asked me about this car and complemented a lot. It has Maserati look. Drive is amazing. For me, after test driving, S5, BMW 440Xi and C43 AMG, there was something in this car, I fell in love with. It is for sure, at least (if not more) 15K less than similarly equipped above brands. They have great materials in and out overall, even though there is some lack of achieving the level of above premium brands. I cannot write how much I like about this car, as it may take a lot of space. I can write little about what I don't like in it (very few, if any). I don't like the KIA label (I have always owned BMWs), fuel economy (but for this level of performance, it is acceptable) and major one being, the interior noise which can be refined a bit (I think this is common to all sports sedans like S5, AMGC43 and BMW 440Xi with M sport).

The overall design of this car is thoughtful, yet stunning and atheletic at the same time. The vevicle performs well on all road surfaces. ( I will say that the GT2 has 19" tires that roughen the ride, but find acceptable in lieu of performance) The car handles well and provides amazing accelleration even if cruising speed has been acheived, steering is responsive and the car hold the roads well. The exterior lines are awesome with few flaws. (One noticeable is the wind dams that cool the breaks accumulate sand and small rocks due to winter snow maintenace. The interior is comfortable as the front seats provided 18 adjustments. The side bolsters hug your sides. The heated seats and steering wheel work well. The cabon layout is good and controls are placed logically , with the exception of the 8" touch screen (slightly out of arms reach) and the volume control is placed low and without looking I find myself operating the passenger vent. The interior materials seem of good quality with some hard plastics. (Which should be expected at this price point. I personally feel that KIA is going in the right direction, but probably should have created an up line badging due to badge bius of shoppers. Or perhaps the manufacturer is looking to take an I told you so approach, in order to dispel past negativity of their brand overall. This is my second KIA and hope that the reliability measures up to my first one which was 80k miles with no issues at all. Unfortunately the seats are wearing out after 1 year

Ever since this car was revealed, my interest was piqued. I previously had a WRX, and wanted a car that had a better interior, features, and more space, without sacrificing much performance and the fun to drive factor. The Stringer GT2 looks like it fit the bill. Pros - The best feature of this car is what you get for your money. The MSRP is $10-15k less than comparable Audi's and BMWs and currently the dealers seem to be giving pretty decent discounts (I got $8500 off the MSRP). The engine makes this 4000 lbs car a true rocket. It is fast off the line, but the most surprising power is when you are moving at 30-40 MPH and you put your foot down. You quickly will be rocketing toward "arrest me" speeds. The gearbox is responsive and shifts quickly. The suite of driving features leaves little want for more, especially at this price point. The interior is nicely put together with actual button controls, which is a large plus for me. The seats are very adjustable, comfortable, and low (once again, that is a plus for me). I mostly use Android Auto, and that integration is done well. The sound system is very good for a stock system. For the exterior, I find the car to be one of the most handsome on the road. It is long, low, and wide, with an aggressive appearance without being, for a lack of a better term, "Type R"ish. The lines flow to a wonderful hatch shape. The 5 year standard/10 year powertrain warranty reassures me a lot since this is a new design. Cons - Gas mileage is pretty disappointing, but somewhat expected for the weight and power of the engine. I average about 18 MPG mostly commuting to work in the inner suburbs while trying not to drive too much like a goon. No manual transmission is available for those of us who enjoy rowing our own gears. The adjustable suspension can get a little floaty around corners, even in sport mode. I wish they built in a sport+ mode that firmed up the sport mode a little more. The leather seats are prone to getting depressions if you rest something heavy on them (like seat belt imprints if you fold down the rear seats). The exterior has a few silly non-functional fake vents. I worry a bit about the resale value of the car, but I plan on keeping it for awhile to take advantage of the warranty. Conclusion - Kia built themselves a really good value GT car that has most of the features and driving experience of the more expensive luxury brands at a much lower price point. You could get roughly the same features or a more powerful engine at the same price of the Stinger from an Audi 5 series Sportback or a BMW 4 series Granturismo, but you would spend a lot more if you wanted both. If you are not a badge snob, this car should be on your short list if you wanted a powerful GT car with a lot of space and good features.

Right, first-things-first: I’m sure that a lot of "brand snobs" (sorry, but you know who you are) will turn their nose up at a Kia. No, it’s not a BMW or Mercedes, with all the ‘status’ that comes with the great German luxury brands that the Stinger is competing against. Honestly, that put me off just a bit at first. But if you can get past that – if you are truly buying a car and not a brand, I don’t why anyone would NOT want this car. I started researching cars over the winter. Wanted to move up to at-least an entry-level luxury brand e.g., Audi A5 Sportback, Infiniti Q50, etc. I started reading the great reviews for the Stinger. Took the V6 GT for a test drive and I was blown away. The power/acceleration (wow!), handling, braking, and overall performance are fantastic. The interior build quality is excellent. And hatchback/utility, and 4-passenger room of the car is a real plus. Kia snagged stalwarts from Audi and BMW to design and engineer this car, and it shows. They made a point to say they built this as a GT, and that’s what I wanted: a car to cover long distances quickly, in comfort and in luxury. My wife and I are “empty-nesters”. We take plenty of weekend getaway trips, and I use it as a daily commuter. Or, if I just want a lot of fun, put it in Sport mode, find some twisties and some open straights… it’s a blast! The car is perfect for us. And, by the way, it gets a lot of admiring looks from other drivers. Folks' first reaction might be "that's a lot of money for a Kia". Actually, I see it as a steal. Comparably equipped and powered, the comparable luxury models (think Audi S5 Sportback) would be at-least another $20k. Add the 10yr/100k warranty, and it was a no-brainer for me. I rated Reliability 4 stars, because I haven't had it long enough to really tell. So far, no problems, squeaks, or rattles. Solid. Now, there are a few things that I'm not a huge fan off: the rear view visibility is somewhat limited with the sloping lines and huge c-pillars - hence the 4-stars on Safety; there's a lot of tech... the engine auto stop/start is default-on - I wish it was default-off; the shift-by-wire in the GT2 / having to press the "P"/park button also takes awhile to get used to; and the auto-lift-hatch seems to be guessing as-to when you want it to open.

I've been a car nut for decades, having owned a turbo Volvo and BMW, supercharged MINI, Audi and Mazda, and a big block V8 as well as an Infiniti G35. The two things that drive me is (1) the car has to be fun and (2) it has to be authentic, which means that it has to represent value, in acquisition price, driving satisfaction, reliability, and maintenance cost. Keeping in character, this time I went shopping for a high performance sports sedan for around $50K. I drove a bunch: Alfa (too claustrophobic, untested reliability), BMW 340i (nice car but not much fun), Mercedes C43 (sweet car but $20K over my budget, Audi S4 (don't know why but is just didn't move me. and it was 10K over my budget). Then I stopped by my local KIA dealer and was appalled at the juvenile behavior of the sales staff. Plus, they placed a $5.000 "market adjustment" onto the Monroney. Despite that, I test drove the vehicle and loved it. I then called to other KIA dealers in the Denver area and focused on one that was a bit more professional. In the end I leased the car and then bought out the lease after 90 days. The "acrobatics" saved me a little over $8,000 off sticker. The car is great with a few minor nits (1) the driver preference template resets to "comfort" each time the car is turned off. This is also true for the auto stop/start. If you want rear visibility use the side mirrors - the rear window view is very small. The dealership is very pedestrian, but as my daddy used to say, its OK to have people fawning over you - just remember that you are paying for it one way or another. The same is true with the German auto palaces. So, I look forward to (1) a great driving experience (2) repair bills that do not look like mortgage payments (the longest warranty in the business) (3) a car brand that is low on prestige, but 5th highest on reliability. For that I can put up with the crying babies, stale popcorn, and Optima loaners. At this point I have over 12K miles on the KIA. It has been totally trouble free. Good thing, because the service writers at the dealership are total bozos. Might have something to do with the extremely tight labor market here in Denver, or maybe the dealer just puts a higher priority on selling cars, rather than maintaining them. Good thing that KIA makes a quality car. To Date: mediocre mileage - close to EPA Estimates no rattles very little road noise effortless performance tight handling - considering its weight a good thing that I bought it right, as depreciation is a bit steep. I will probably end up keeping the KIA for a longer time, just because resale is not great. I recently took it on an extended trip, mostly well traveled two lane roads. The acceleration made passing slower moving vehicles very easy. The low road noise and compliant suspension resulted in arriving at my destination without the fatigue I had experienced doing the same route in other cars. It is too big to be a sports sedan - it is truly a grand tourer.

I have been leasing cars every two years for the past 10 years. I am very happy with this car. I think Korean cars will be the benchmark of cars in the future. it is a great balance among price, performance, and reliability. in every location that I parked, somebody says " I le your car" It has an Italian style and in terms of performance for 42K you can beat an Audi A7 which is similar a hatchback priced at 70K. Also is giving me 21.5 MPG in City and 26 in Highway which is great for that engine. IT is hard to find a car that for 42k gets you from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. I Am leasing it now and I am thinking of buying it after two years of depreciation. It worth it.

For the past 12 years...had my heart set on a Mercedes. At a point where I could actually afford one...I chose to test drive the Stinger GT2....and that's all it took. One press of the pedal to the floor put a smile on my face I've not had from driving in a very long time. Handling...comfort...and have you seen this car? She is stunning! The Stinger ad with Steven Tyler hit the nail on the head...Feel Something Again. Indeed.

This is a very special vehicle. A lot of engineering and driver comfort and safety features were paramount in regards to making the new Stinger GT2. It is fun to drive, has many safety features, a 0-60 acceleration in 4.7 seconds with it’s 365 hp twin turbo engine. The interior is luxuriously appointed, with easy to read displays, a great stereo system, and large GPS display. Kia has knocked it out of the park with its new model.

I replaced my GTI with a Stinger...and no regrets!

I had a perfectly fine 2016 GTI but test drove the Stinger because I loved the styling, and fell in lust with it's driving dynamics as well. It took me 3 months to pull the trigger and purchase, and with the VW falling out of warranty, the timing was right (life has taught me to always ditch the Euro brands I've purchased over the years(VW, Audi, and BMW) right when the warranty ends, because they then become money pits with the repair costs). I was leery about getting a larger car (I'm a single guy with no real need for all the room) but the Stinger drives so well that you don't notice its size. I got the GT1 with AWD (a must here in Colorado) and the power and handling is phenomenal. I just broke it in with a Cannonball run from Denver to Santa Fe and back. On the way down, I had clear skies and dry pavement and it proved to be an excellent cruiser. I was concerned about it being a gas guzzler (and it IS driving around town), so I left the car in Eco mode and achieved 28 avg mpg, which was good even with all of the elevation changes. On my way back to Denver I spent most of the drive in sub-freezing temps and wet/icy/snowy roads. No issues whatsoever, it was a stable Mable haha. The heated seats and steering wheel were perfect, and the AWD had me feeling truly confident. I never truly though of myself as a brand snob, and drove German cars because of their driving dynamics and style. But alas, I was tired of paying for that German goodness by way of expensive repair bills once they all were over 40,000 miles (like clockwork). This Kia combines that German feel, far more exciting style, content, and best of all, reliability, at a fraction of the price. Plus the dealerships are GIVING these things away to move them. Here in Denver I've only seen two, so you also get an air of exclusivity until the masses get hip to this amazing car. Again, overall, no buyer's remorse-the power, the styling. The styling (again haha), the features-the driver's assist tech all works grand, and the Harmon Kardon stereo sounds truly awesome-The Eagles and Fela Kuti never sounded so good! Please don't let badge snobbery keep you from test driving (and buying) this car.

Stinger GT2 AWD on the first road trip

Chris, 10/07/2018

8 of 8 people found this review helpful

I will start by saying I have been with MOPAR (Chrysler / Dodge / Ram) for the last 15 years. I was extremely reluctant to test drive or even look at another brand. I started by reading everything I could get my hands on and watching as many reviews as I could find about or on the Kia Stinger. I knew about the paint / coil and rattle issues prior to test driving. The Folks at Ancira Kia were ok but the Sales guy Andrew knew his brand and answered every question I had, he is by far one of the best Sales guys I have worked with. I am 6'4" and 225 and was a little worried if I would fit comfortably so we test drove the GT2 AWD and I was sold. That easy. Plenty of leg room and easily adjustable seats / wheel set up. This car continues to make me smile and drives exactly how I want it too. I just finished an 11 hr road trip from San Antonio to Wichita Falls and back. Going up I averaged 29mpg on eco mode and coming back I averaged 25 on comfort. Zero issues with the little bit of rain we ran into and zero issues with on ramps or passing traffic. I am used to the cushy ride of my Ram 1500 and this car did not disappoint with the ride. Yes it rides a little rough over some of the larger bumps, and yes I did get a lot of road noise on portions of highway 281 but it is a sports sedan so I expected some of that (no difference from my challenger or charger I have owned in the past). I have back injuries from several years ago and the lumbar support was great. Its been a long time since I have been able to get out of a vehicle after a road trip and not have my body feel beat up. I can say I was really looking to find something wrong with the Kia, I cant. I did not want it to be this good, it is. I thought for sure I would be turning it in and heading back to dodge for another scat pack, nope. I am sold. And as a fun fact I ran my stinger on San Antonio raceway (1/4 mile) and ran a 13.4, not bad, now this is not a mustang beater and by no means will it be near as fast as my scat pack, but it really is an everyday car that I can really get into a lot of trouble with. GO TEST DRIVE THIS CAR! You wont be disappointed.

Update : after over 20,000 miles this is still the most amazing car. I live how it looks, how it rides, how it turns heads, and how it moves. I drive spirited and still average over 22 mpg. An absolutely amazing car! Beautiful, comfortable, handles very well, fast!, smooth, quiet, and tons of space. I'll simply echo what others have said, for the money, this is the best value compared to it's competition. I NEVER thought I'd own a Kia, now I am thrilled I do!

Twin Scroll turbo Four Stinger

The 255 horsepower twin scroll turbo offers strong performance (oh sure it’s not 3.3 365 horsepower performance) great for everyday driving! Lots of features found in the GT models. Storage is phenomenal! I am impressed with the ride and comfort. Transmission is smooth and unlike many other cars it does not seem to search of gears. Styling is strong, but not overstated! I now have over 36,000 miles on the Stinger and I continue to enjoy it! No issues, no problems! Did have to replace tires. Went with Michelin Cross-Climate tires. Somewhat expensive, but fantastic grip. Stinger is really a nicer ride now! Last year of production for Stingers will be 2023, but don’t let that stop you from buying a new Stinger. This has been an excellent car and who knows, it may be a future collector car!?

I am really impressed with this car after owning it for a week. It looks beautiful inside and out, and has every tech gadget I could possibly want. Great price too. Kia was offering great deals this month on leases. I have owned lots of nice cars before and this car is a perfect balance of fun and comfort. The ride is very composed and yes, a little harsh with a 19 inch wheels, but the acceleration and sound of the engine more than make up for it. The stereo is awesome, front seats are great. Lots of car for the money. German luxury makers should watch out.

My 2018 Stinger Review

So, I read reviews, watched videos and was impressed with how KIA continues to improve their vehicles; however, to get real quality, you need to purchase the higher end vehicles. I would suppose that is true with all car manufacturers. The Stinger is a very nice introduction of a car that has great performance with abundance of extra features. The overall performance of this vehicle matches all other manufacturers in this class and is slightly less expensive, yet is still pricey though. I traded in a 2016 high end, SXL, Sorento, which the dealership didn’t want to give me the full value. I walked away and they then agreed. My husband had been a Lexus believer but when I came home with the GT2 Stinger to which he HAD to drive, he then bought one for himself!!

There are only a few cars that are close in appearance! This car looks like it was designed from a Tesla, Maserati Ghibli, and Jaguar! The only cars that compare are the Infiniti Q60 especially the Sedan, the BMW 4 series, Audi A5, or the Lexus IS300 or RC 350. If your hung up on status names go throw the extra $10K to 20K down the drain! This is a quality Sports Sedan. There is plenty of cargo space enough to take home my new lawn mower! The interior is spacious. so far the only criticism is the driver seat is a little stiff and older drivers more than 60 might have to get used to. That might be all in my head!! if I did it again i look more closely at the base model which can be leased around $400 per month!! I saw the review by a so called expert and he said that because its a KIA it will wont be popular!! So far in two months i have only seen 2 Stingers!! You see loads of Maximas, Honda Accord Sports Q60 coupes but you feel kind of special with this car. I say this car is an incredible value and you will save $10,000 for a comparable vehicle!

I GOT THE LEMON!

Stung, 10/22/2019

Bought my 2018 Stinger with 9 miles on the odometer last year. It's stayed in the shop more than on the road. I've had nothing but problems out of it. Before reaching 1300 miles on the odometer the entire fueling system went out. The dealership had my car for almost 2 months because they didn't have a tech that knew how to work on it so they had to bring someone in from the factory, order parts and still couldn't figure it out. Mind you I'm still making my payments on time without having my car and was told Kia doesn't offer courtesy vehicles. Finally got my car back and had a flat rear tire. Of course no one has the tires in stock so I wait another week. Dealership ordered wrong tire so I'm stuck for an additional week with no car. Still making payments...I get my car back. 2 weeks later another flat tire! Gotta love those low profile! A month passes and there's a recall. Not 1 but 3! Take it back and there goes another week without my car. Another month passes and the low tire pressure sensor comes on. Had my car towed because there was nothing wrong with the pressure. Just didn't want to chance it. Seems it was a faulty sensor. Replaced it. Now all of the paint is coming off the strips on top of the car and rust is appearing on the back passenger chrome pieces and passenger back quarter panel!!! Took it to the dealer once again just to be told the whole car has to be repainted and new parts ordered. Rest assured people, I bought the LEMON! This car is going to make me lose my religion! I've asked for Kia to buy it back and release me from the responsibility. I'm waiting on a response now...so we'll see. Good luck with your Stingers! They're beautiful cars but it's not worth the hassle.

Noisier than its competition. I have zero complaints one month in. Even sporting around I am still getting 24mpg average! Kia has really done a great job on this car. Only complaints are the somewhat louder noise and the badging of the US version should be the same as the Korean version. Also why they chose to omit the Qi charging from the US version makes no sense.

Like many of the reviews on here, I went from driving German Luxury cars for the last 20 years to.....it's hard for me to say it....KIA! Obviously a very very special Kia. For those who do not know, it was designed and tuned by Germans, the ex chief engineer for M division-BMW, and Audi A7 designer. Needless to say, those 2 made a beautiful baby. There are more than enough articles written on how great this car is, but just be prepared, if you're coming out of a German car, the dealer experience, maintenance, service will be very different than what you're used to. It all came together, when I was buying the stinger, and my lovely salesman offered me coffee from the coffee bar, and it was Dunkin coffee- no judgment, in contrast to my BMW dealership which had a starbucks inside of it. And yes, every day I get up excited to drive my stinger.

After 20 months I have two complaints, otherwise the car is great and actually is a little faster than you imagine. 1. It sits low, almost too low, it's hard to get in and out, especially for a first time passenger. 2. The visibility for the driver is bad, the B pillar blocks your peripheral vision, the fast back design, large headrests, and large outside rear view mirrors all take away part of the driver's sight line. The car has all the electronic safety warnings, probably more than you think, but when you drive one you'll learn the term "limited visibility" doesn't mean just foggy conditions. The KIA Stinger was built in Korea but certainly has "German parents". It was designed with Audi influence and because of BMW (M) influence it will perform better than you're anticipating. The many safety, handling, and performance adjustments available permit the driver to personalize almost every function on the car from driving in "econ" mode when going to the library or to 'custom" (your choice on everything) when the BMW, Audi or Mercedes pulls next to you. UPDATED REVIEW: I bought the car at the end of the lease (about $27K) and I did purchase the extended warranty (mainly because of the electronics) and am still extremely pleased with the Stinger. My two original complaints (sitting low and rear visibility) are no longer issues, I've adapted and everything is good. The strong rumor is that KIA will stop production of the Stinger with the 2022 model year because of low/slow sales. I would prefer that KIA re-imagine the Stinger as all electric performance vehicle rather than stop production. I still have people asking what kind of car is that and when I tell them KIA, the response usually is something negative about KIA. Having owned BMW's "M3 and M5", my 2 cents is, before you purchase a German sedan, go drive a Stinger and use "Sport Mode", then decide. Update: I have had the Stinger for 4 years/36,000 miles and the car is still great, nothing has gone wrong, broken or required adjustment although I did add a tuner kit to give the car a little more "juice", it's noticeable I might add. The tech who installed the tuner kit said the car may have been built in Korea, but underneath it's German influence for sure. Again I say, before you drop 50K-75K on a German sedan just go drive a Stinger in Sport mode. The car now has 60,000 miles and the car is still great, no issues with anything. The car is 6 years old and people still comment on the car’s looks. A used Stinger V6 twin turbo would be a nice addition to anyone’s garage. I will predict unless you currently drive some tricked up daily driver the Stinger will probably become your daily driver.

I am very satisfied that I opted for the Kia Stinger Premium. 255 hp is totally adequate for my needs. The fuel mileage is excellent! I average about 29mpg. Wish the fuel tank was a bit larger (like the Optima). The car is loaded with so many technical marvels that it took weeks of ownership to discover and appreciate all of them. And the best part, I paid only $33,600 out the door. That is incredible value!

Okay. So I have been waiting for this car to arrive for almost 1 year. I test drove the GT1 and really liked it. This is a really nice sports sedan. I compared the features and performance to the A5 sport-back (the other car I am considering). This car far exceeds the Audi. The only item I preferred that the Audi has is a full digital instrument cluster. But that is really not a deal breaker for me. Even though the car just came out, the dealership I was working with was fine in selling me the car at $750 over their cost. I will be looking to purchase the car on Jan 2, 2018.

Not only will this car blow the doors off of almost anything but it's sleek, stylish, comfortable and is a head turner. I added aftermarket front and rear spoilers, canards and diffuser in the rear. I replaced the Kia badges with the Korean badges that are a stylized "E". Guess what? Nobody knows what it is, they ask me if it cost $100,000. I'm not afraid to tell them it's a Kia but I like to keep them guessing. Pull into a convenience store and people will start stopping and staring. It's a beautifully designed and crafted car. I've owned a bunch of cars but never one that performs as good as it looks, like this one does.

Our 2018 Kia Stinger GT 2 AWD is an excellent car--period! It drives very similar to a German car but cost $15-20K less! We traded in our 2014 Audi A8L 4.0L for it and have not regretted it as our Audi warranty was running out at over 50K miles. Audi dealership gave us poor $ for Audi trade-ins and nothing for Audi loyalty. Kia tried harder and succeeded in earning our purchase. Kia warranty and services are longer and better. We have owned Audi S4, S5, Q7, A8, BMW 435i, Mercedes-Benz 300, & 550. But we couldn't be happier with the Stinger in terms of a fun drive & ride with a lot of thoughtful & convenient features and safety features. Acceleration is instantaneous and powerful! Steering and feel is excellent! Yes, Kia has some minor cheap parts in it, but so do Audi and BMW. The main thing is that this Stinger is the complete package that will put a smile on your face every time you drive. We were looking to buy a used Audi S5, S7, BMW 650iX--but couldn't be happier with a brand 'new' Kia Stinger GT2 that is just fully loaded and of the right size! Once you get over the Kia badge and realized that 2 Germans from BMW and VW came over to Kia to design and create this amazing 'sleeper' of a Grand Tour 4-dr coupe, it's nothing but a pure satisfaction of owning one of the most fun and functional vehicles that is of great value! We love our Stinger more and more as we drive it. No regrets here! And the Kia staff at sales and services departments are most excellent at Kia Safford of Fredericksburg, VA.

I have had this car for over 3 years years and I absolutely love it! It has power, handling and looks. I have owned BMW M cars, Porsches, Mercedes E class cars and prefer my Stinger to all of them. This is a lot of car for the money. I cross shopped against the Alfa Gulia, Audi S5 and base model Porsche Panamera. I landed on the Kia not due to price, although that helped, but due to it's handling and the feel of the interior. This is a great halo car for the Korean automaker to prove itself with and they have done just that. Hiring the top German engineers and designers in their field has really paid of for Hyundai-Kia! I strongly urge anyone in the market for a fun sports sedan to give this car a shot! You won't be disappointed! After three plus years of ownership, every time I drive this car I love it more. No issues at all with the car since the repaint. Great performance, great quality, fantastic bang for your buck! The only thing I have done in 26k miles is upgrade the brake rotors and pads for more spirited driving in the dragon US129. Love this car as much today as the day I bought it!

Why buy a soulless throat lozenge like every crossover of there? But a Stinger and get power, style, handling and still be able to carry loads of stuff in the hatch. This thing still turns heads 2 years later and hauls more groceries than most compact SUVs.

Stinga is a head turner

I wanted and all purpose car that checked all the boxes. For the price point this car did just that-what amazing value. This car is incredibly versatile because it is beautiful looking, sporty, comfortable, all wheel drive, spacious and stocked with amenities. I wanted a sedan that was exciting like a sports car, but still had the functionality to haul family and items around. The Stinga as we affectionately call it is everything you want in a car with a badge known for reliability and economy. Kia did it again they built a$100k car at half the price. I passed on other luxury vehicles and just came out of a Lexus because every article and video affirmed the greatness of this vehicle. When I drove it I was floored. Some things I did realize quickly when buying it. First if you drive it hard and get addicted to that roar and ridiculous speed you will be at the pump a whole lot. However I just completed a 150 mile drive averaging 28.1 mpg!-I didn’t even know I could get better then 25 mpg. Second it is not a small sports car even thought it performs really well on curves this is a big sedan that I would best categorize as a highway monster. On the highway in this semi autonomous driving car it is smooth. Pop it into cruise and keep a hand on the wheel and this GT will do the work. Passing anyone is a piece of cake and few will challenge you knowing the immense power of the Stingers twin turbo 6. My last reveal was the poor turn radius. So my u-turns take longer-eh so what. My favorite features include the 365 horses, the hatch, the wheel/rims/brembos, Apple CarPlay, AWD and the coupe like deign is pure art work. I even like the side marker everyone complains about. Original, like me. What else do I love about this vehicle, is everything else. Usually when I buy a car I start my research for my next car almost immediately but not with the Stinga. I want to enjoy this car fully. Great job Kia!

I’ve owned my certified used 2018 Stinger Premium with a 3 year dealer maintenance service agreement for 9 months. The Silky Silver (outstanding quality - dirt rolls off it) with Black interior car is a great look. The 4-Cylinder engine is quite responsive. I can easily achieve 32 mpg at 75 mph on a 3 hour drive using cruise control in ECO mode. The Harmon Kardon sound system pumps out all the base your chest can take. The rear seat egress does not decapitate you like in European badges. Six foot adults can easily sit in the rear with a six foot driver at the helm. Compared to similar European brands the legroom is much better. The overall styling of the vehicle seemed to pull elements from Masarati and Porche. In order for Kia to meet their vehicle material cost budget and reduce vehicle weight, Kia relied heavily on the use of plastic. The rear lift back has plastic at the license plate area which made it impossible to attach a team spirit magnet. The car is spec’d for 87 but it hits another octave on 93. Twice per month folks ask me what kind of car is that with the “Sigma” badge and twice per month they leave impressed that it is a Kia. Thanks Kia for buying European design talent to create a wonderful machine. Side Note: the only design defect that I experienced are the two 1-inch wide roof clear plastic sleeves over the painted plastic rails began to become brittle. Warranty item. Minor recall in the making. Side Note 2: Offer inter-cooled front seat option. Side Note 3: For women, the car offers excellent security. Once you put the car in drive, all doors and lift back stay locked until you use your remote control to open.

First the PROS.. The Stinger GT2 AWS was definitely an impulse buy for me. I was out shopping for something else that day and then I saw this beauty across the street and 2 hours later it was mine. In my opinion the red just stands out among other colors. I went for the GT2 AWD because I wanted absolutely everything this gem had to offer. I use the Stinger for my every day driving around town and since we're not a tall family (everyone's under 5'9") even with all 5 of us in the car on longer trips we have plenty of fun. I love the power plant in this car. It's fun under any driving conditions. Various driving modes actually do change the overall dynamics significantly. Napa leather seats are heated and cooled! Love that being in AZ. The sportback design with its hatch provides for plenty of cargo capacity for daily shopping as well as long trips. Infotainment and navigation is more intuitive and simpler to use than most competition, and the sound system is awesome! HUD is great to have in normal as well as spirited driving situations. Safety features like lane keep and adaptive cruise actually work very well. Adaptive cruise will bring the car to a full stop and then resume in stop-n-go traffic. And the LOOKS! I have never gotten this many compliments on looks of any of the 20+ cars I owned, some of which cost significantly more than the Stinger, in the past 28 years. At every store, gas station, rest stop, traffic light, just hundreds of turned heads and even after a year and a half it's still happening almost daily. It's packed with just the right features and options that I enjoy to the fullest. I still look forward to driving the stinger daily. And yes, I love the fake hood vents!!! Now the CONS.... and this really saddens me as a proud owner.... DEALER EXPERIENCE... or lack of thereof :( I've had nothing but horrible experience with the dealers in Phoenix area. From buying (paperwork issues and refunds / corrections needed) to servicing the vehicle on ongoing basis, I dread every visit to the dealer. Having spent $55k on a luxury performance vehicle I (and my car) still get treated like the grandma that bought that Kia Soul for $14k. I caught the service department in several lies.. skipped service, dishonest responses. I've personally worked on cars for 20+ years so I can't afford the level of ignorance that would slide with these folks. They told me they've changed oil when they haven't, rotated tires when they didn't... etc. At every appointment I have to actually tell the service department what they need to do at given mileage / interval. And that's with an actual pre-paid maintenance plan in place - total waste of my $. When put on the spot the service manager just comes up with excuses or further lies. With 2018 model still still a fresh concept, the vehicle had couple of issues in the first few months. The infotainment system screen had to be swapped out as sound/fade issues kept resetting to full rear position without any input. The front brakes kept squealing and had to be replaced. The Engine auto start / stop feature, which is completely misplaced on this vehicle and is the most annoying and dangerous feature ever installed in a performance sedan, didn't work correctly. I absolutely hate the fact that it cannot be disabled permanently but rather has to be clicked off every time you start your engine. Madness! Put it in as a check-mark in settings or give me a toggle switch. This thing still scares me when it auto shuts off the engine while I wait for traffic to clear in a left turn. This awesome idea - the Stinger model, at the very least should have been a Genesis!!! But for now, it's a great car with absolutely no proper service or support to back you up as a proud buyer/owner. Right car - Wrong company!

Kia Stinger has two flaws.

Kia should have gone with a design that doesn’t mimic the Cadenza,Optima and K900. They should have made a Coupe available. The leg room for tall drivers isn’t good. Front legroom is 42.6” but in the Optima it’s 45.5”. My Optima is very comfortable for my 6’2” frame. I was very uncomfortable in the Stinger. This is surprising since the Stinger and Optima are almost the same length.

Stinger delivers

Bought the Premium silver exterior black leather interior. I have it for only two weeks so I cannot comment on dependability. I bought the safety package which has blindspot warning and lane departure warning. It also has front and rear warning if you are too close, and a rear camera. It is a nice car but it is not a BMW or Audi. Its a KIA and it does not have the prestige of a German vehicle. One think I did not realize when I bought it is does not have a CD player. I wish I knew because I do not have music on my phone. The car drives nicely and is fast enough for me. It handles well and accelerates well. While the rear hatch has a large window there is limited visibility when looking through the rear mirror. There is also no rear wiper which would have been nice. One of the safety features is the car keeps itself in your lane. You literally can take your hands off the wheel for about 10-15 seconds. The problem is the after warning you to hold the wheel it turns this feature off and the car will go into another lane if you do not grab the wheel. Good head and leg room.

KIA made a nice car, but, they need more professional sales people and marketing tactics. They did a nice job copying the exterior of an Audi A5 Sportback with the interior of a Mercedes. The materials and fit are still subpar. For example, the push button is hidden behind the steering wheel. The temperature gauge feels like cheaper silver plastic, too. For some reason KIA won’t let you buy the GT with a sunroof, and the roof materials are dark making it a bit too claustrophobic for me. A lighter roof color would be better. Also, most of the GT1 and GT2 colors come only in red leather. To me, the gray Nappa is best but only comes in blue and few dealers carry it. Lots of red, black, and whites. The dealers experience was such a turn off I began looking at the Audi instead. It’s about the same price without all the bling, including the cheap plastic airports on the hood that serve no function.

No doubt, this is an awesome looking car, it's fast, and has lots of latest technology. I own a Lexus and Porsche, and never owned a KIA. I went to the KIA dealer, and, I was immediately reminded that KIA dealers are no Lexus dealer. The car is beautiful, but, I noticed the seat and arm rest are not very soft and on the hard side. I sometimes take long trips and wondered how I'd feel. The interior is well designed and has nice materials but I am used to seeing a little wood in a sedan. I sat in the back seat, and, at 6 ft, it is very cramped and my hairs touched the roof. The dealer only offered me $800 off of list of $52,000. As much as I liked this car, I could not justify spending more than my Lexus for a KIA. I like going to my Lexus dealer for an occasional oil change and the KIA dealership just felt cheap. If KIA wants to sell $50k cars, they need to better understand and give the customer the full experience.

Current 2015 Optima owner (which I’m happy with) wanted to test drive for potential future purchase. Test drove base 32k model, great acceleration premium look and feel and great stereo. Wasn’t a fan of the visibility out the rear window - but I’m sure I would adjust. Amazing value at the suggested price.

Although I leased and got pretty much locked into the limited options on the GT AWD model you could probably find a good buy price if researched properly. I am in a three year lease and right now after driving the car for 6+ months couldn't be happier. The car performs well in all driving conditions. The acceleration is great and the ride is smooth, the different settings give you power options. Leased it from my local dealer in upstate NY , where I had originally leased two KIA Optima SX Turbo's prior to the current Stinger. No repairs or reported problems so far.

This car is awesome except for the paint on the hood chips extremely easy. I have owned five black cars and have never experienced the problem of chipping paint like the KIA stinger does. I actually had to take the car to a paint shop to have the chips repaired then had them put three coats of clear coat to help with this problem
