Stinger GT2 AWD on the first road trip

I will start by saying I have been with MOPAR (Chrysler / Dodge / Ram) for the last 15 years. I was extremely reluctant to test drive or even look at another brand. I started by reading everything I could get my hands on and watching as many reviews as I could find about or on the Kia Stinger. I knew about the paint / coil and rattle issues prior to test driving. The Folks at Ancira Kia were ok but the Sales guy Andrew knew his brand and answered every question I had, he is by far one of the best Sales guys I have worked with. I am 6'4" and 225 and was a little worried if I would fit comfortably so we test drove the GT2 AWD and I was sold. That easy. Plenty of leg room and easily adjustable seats / wheel set up. This car continues to make me smile and drives exactly how I want it too. I just finished an 11 hr road trip from San Antonio to Wichita Falls and back. Going up I averaged 29mpg on eco mode and coming back I averaged 25 on comfort. Zero issues with the little bit of rain we ran into and zero issues with on ramps or passing traffic. I am used to the cushy ride of my Ram 1500 and this car did not disappoint with the ride. Yes it rides a little rough over some of the larger bumps, and yes I did get a lot of road noise on portions of highway 281 but it is a sports sedan so I expected some of that (no difference from my challenger or charger I have owned in the past). I have back injuries from several years ago and the lumbar support was great. Its been a long time since I have been able to get out of a vehicle after a road trip and not have my body feel beat up. I can say I was really looking to find something wrong with the Kia, I cant. I did not want it to be this good, it is. I thought for sure I would be turning it in and heading back to dodge for another scat pack, nope. I am sold. And as a fun fact I ran my stinger on San Antonio raceway (1/4 mile) and ran a 13.4, not bad, now this is not a mustang beater and by no means will it be near as fast as my scat pack, but it really is an everyday car that I can really get into a lot of trouble with. GO TEST DRIVE THIS CAR! You wont be disappointed.

The 255 horsepower twin scroll turbo offers strong performance (oh sure it’s not 3.3 365 horsepower performance) great for everyday driving! Lots of features found in the GT models. Storage is phenomenal! I am impressed with the ride and comfort. Transmission is smooth and unlike many other cars it does not seem to search of gears. Styling is strong, but not overstated! I now have over 36,000 miles on the Stinger and I continue to enjoy it! No issues, no problems! Did have to replace tires. Went with Michelin Cross-Climate tires. Somewhat expensive, but fantastic grip. Stinger is really a nicer ride now! Last year of production for Stingers will be 2023, but don’t let that stop you from buying a new Stinger. This has been an excellent car and who knows, it may be a future collector car!?

Update : after over 20,000 miles this is still the most amazing car. I live how it looks, how it rides, how it turns heads, and how it moves. I drive spirited and still average over 22 mpg. An absolutely amazing car! Beautiful, comfortable, handles very well, fast!, smooth, quiet, and tons of space. I'll simply echo what others have said, for the money, this is the best value compared to it's competition. I NEVER thought I'd own a Kia, now I am thrilled I do!

In love with this car

I am really impressed with this car after owning it for a week. It looks beautiful inside and out, and has every tech gadget I could possibly want. Great price too. Kia was offering great deals this month on leases. I have owned lots of nice cars before and this car is a perfect balance of fun and comfort. The ride is very composed and yes, a little harsh with a 19 inch wheels, but the acceleration and sound of the engine more than make up for it. The stereo is awesome, front seats are great. Lots of car for the money. German luxury makers should watch out.

My 2018 Stinger Review

So, I read reviews, watched videos and was impressed with how KIA continues to improve their vehicles; however, to get real quality, you need to purchase the higher end vehicles. I would suppose that is true with all car manufacturers. The Stinger is a very nice introduction of a car that has great performance with abundance of extra features. The overall performance of this vehicle matches all other manufacturers in this class and is slightly less expensive, yet is still pricey though. I traded in a 2016 high end, SXL, Sorento, which the dealership didn’t want to give me the full value. I walked away and they then agreed. My husband had been a Lexus believer but when I came home with the GT2 Stinger to which he HAD to drive, he then bought one for himself!!
