Great car with a lot of problems

I love this car but it's been nothing but a problem child. After 1000 miles, the AC broke. I thought it's a defective part, no worries. I saw this is pretty common in these cars. After 3300 miles, the IVT transmission broke. It's been 40 days since I gave it to service, they made it extremely complicated, hard, and were extremely rude about trying to tow/fix a transmission problem on a new car and I have heard no updates. This is absolutely the level of service you can expect and a common problem. If you like to have problems with your car and driving [non-permissible content removed] rentals for extended periods of time in the first 5 months of owning a car, BUY THE SELTOS. Otherwise, save your time and money.

Disappointed

I waited months for this car... First, it had to be ordered, and the color I wanted wasn't available with a sunroof so I had to choose a different color entirely. Then it had to be made and shipped, then it got stuck at the port and when it finally arrived I was so excited! But... then came the downside to it. The lights that go with the interior music/sound are fun, but they are only in the front which can not only be distracting for the driver but is no fun for anyone sitting in the back seat. The car doesn't have dual climate control but has heated front seats which are a nice touch. It comes with the Kia Access app which is super helpful not just with the remote start, but the other features such as gas indicator, door locks, etc.; However, after leaving the dealership with my car a few days later I learned that this app is free for the first year only and I feel rather annoyed this isn't included with the cost of the car, especially when the dealership added an extra $2k+ "dealership" fee. I don't drive too often and have put less than 3500 miles on it. I have only taken it on one major drive, 140mi each way. On the way to my destination, about 10 minutes before arriving, my check engine light came on. The code pulled was P226100, and as soon as I got to my destination I called the Kia dealership to schedule an appointment. The soonest they had was over a month away, someone was supposed to call me but no one did. I called back a few days later and am told if the check engine light isn't blinking it is safe to keep driving. Yesterday, the light is off and the code doesn't show in the history on the Kia app. The acceleration on this car is sluggish and unless you have a lead foot, you'll have to get used to slowly accelerating. The wireless charging pad is VERY finicky and you have to place the phone just so in order to get it to charge. In addition, at least with my iPhone, if I want to connect it to the car, I have to plug it into the USB and do a direct connection. The seats in the back are also a bit thin, so fitting a car seat or booster in them has to be placed on a side seat or you won't be able to have any passengers able to fit comfortably in the back seat as well, thus lowering the overall safety for that child. Overall, I am really disappointed in what I thought was going to be the best car. I waited so long for this car, even made some concessions on what I really wanted just to be let down in the end by lackluster "extras" and an underwhelming performance followed up by an error code within the first 4k miles. I only hope this is not the start of a terrible relationship with this car.

Stay away from Kia. Bought this car last year with 36 miles on it and a week in I called the dealership and informed them the car was acting weird. It was jerking and rpms randomly going up. When in idle you could hear a ticking/knocking sound from the engine. When at a red light/stop car wouldn’t go. When parked and engine turned off for a while engine would randomly turn back on by itself. I told dealership about this and they thought I was crazy so I did my own research they said it just needed a transmission computer software update. These issues continued and two transmissions updates later come to find out from other owners with similar issues the updates are just the start of a huge issue transmissions and engines are having to be replaced by the dealerships. I got rid of this car asap. Don’t buy it

Oil consumption testing and engine replacement!!!!

Hi. Bought our Seltos in August 2020 and LOVED it (yes, past tense). Got the recall notice for the faulty oil piston rings coating thing and "passed" inspection, aka the car did NOT have the problem. BUT the car was two quarts low on oil. Then on to oil consumption testing and sure enough, now the engine must be replaced however Kia "corporate" is not providing approval. TOTAL BS. The car died unexpectedly and nearly caused several fatal crashes. It is sad to write this as Kia gets an A+ for design, style, size, etc., etc. and not to mention marketing, but if the engine doesn't work NOTHING ELSE MATTERS! Beware and give this car a few more years to try to get things right.

I leased a 2022 Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD on June 10, 2022. On day 6 I experienced an instrument cluster fault. Very strange. When I engaged the navigation the entire dashboard began to turn on and off. Empty on the fuel gauge, zero on the speedometer and tachometer. I brought it in and after almost 3 weeks I have no definitive date as to when the ordered part, mew instrument cluster, will even be shipped from South Korea, much less arrive. I absolutely love this vehicle, well, a little small maybe, but a real compact beauty of an SUV... great settling... and it's a got a nice kick for such a small engine. Anyways, hoping this gets fixed asap but I heard from a mechanic that this is a known problem that has something to do with humidity getting into the cluster module. July 22,... still no word. ☹️
